  1. Yep what some coaches down here say “publicly” and what they insinuate to their players don’t come close to matching up
  2. I think it’s great that basketball players also play football. Some coaches frown upon the multi sport athlete—always worried about them getting hurt. But I spoke with a D1 athlete, old school Lady Rebel and her son has been just a basketball player but this year is also playing football. She said she was amazed at how much better he was when he played in a 3 on 3 tournament after not having picked up a basketball in a while. I firmly believe a kid can benefit from playing different sports and working different muscle groups and continuing to work on footwork or body positioning. Especially at a small rural school, coaches need to share the athletes and support the kids’ physical developments.
  3. All true but we could also look at it this way: HV beats CD 14-6 HV beats Hampton 14-8 So based on this could we assume Hampton is just a tiny bit better than CD??? I would say not. Fact is these are teenage boys struggling with consistency. That’s why games are played. Rivalries or conference games or just blowouts, the kids are trying to execute at a high level. Sometimes they do; sometimes they don’t. Maybe you do have an edge on SG. Hampton continues to improve, and we are still floundering trying to figure out how to play defense. Based on film, CD did play better against us than they did at JC, Cosby, or SN.
  4. Another conference game—South Greene needs a win but Cosby is hungry. It’s homecoming on Rebel Hill. Distractions? How does this one go?
  5. Thanks. Wasn’t pretty. We didn’t play well. But a win is a win.
  6. You couldn’t have said it any better. UGLY.
  7. Agree but maybe a little less emphasis on fun and a bit more on winning
  8. Lol just meant I don’t think we really hate each other. We just want to beat each other.
  9. “Hate” is an awfully strong word. Its funny now that I’ve been out of hs for a couple of decades+ some of my favorite people are from CD. I did say “some”.
  10. Not taking anything away from Hampton. I’m sure you are ready for this game, but wasn’t JC dealing with the loss of Coach Smith the week they played WG? Even if you think you can handle that type of adversity and come out pumped, you are sometimes still in an emotional fog. I don’t care who you are, that’s tough to shake. So, I wouldn’t expect this to be a cake walk—JC will play hard. I think Hampton has too many weapons though.
  11. Both play Qb but Levi is the 4 yr starting Qb
  12. Yes this will indeed be a good game. This Reb ain’t assuming anything!!! Lots of respect for Hampton.
  13. And I hope Massey is right on the nose but I still say it will be harder than that. Man I hope I’m wrong.
  14. Sure hope so but CD is a good team. Our offense will have to be clicking on all cylinders and defense able to contain hard-nosed runners Cutshaw and Murvin.
  15. That’s a lot of candles, better have buckets of water nearby
