  1. Considering the forecast, you forgot the most important item you're not allowed to bring in... an umbrella! I saw someone at the Oak Ridge game that got turned away for trying to bring one in.
  2. Tuesday, November 19 Greeneville 62, Daniel Boone 60 Thursday, November 21 David Crockett at Claiborne Tennessee High vs. Sullivan South Volunteer vs. Johnson County Saturday, November 23 Cherokee at North Greene Cherokee vs. Chuckey-Doak (at North Greene) Daniel Boone vs. University High David Crockett at Morristown East David Crockett vs. Knox Central (at Morristown East) Dobyns-Bennett vs. Maryville (at Greeneville) Dobyns-Bennett vs. Powell (at Greeneville) Tennessee High vs. South Greene I have no idea what to expect this year from the district race. There was a jamboree last week at Sullivan East between the District 1-AAA teams and District 1-AA teams, but I didn't get to go to that. Looking forward to heading down to Greeneville Saturday to catch the two D-B games.
  3. Tuesday, November 19 Daniel Boone 54, Greeneville 38 Dobyns-Bennett 43, Sullivan East 40 Thursday, November 21 David Crockett at Claiborne Science Hill vs. Jefferson County Tennessee High vs. Sullivan South Volunteer vs. Johnson County Saturday, November 23 Cherokee at North Greene Cherokee vs. Chuckey-Doak (at North Greene) University High at Daniel Boone David Crockett at Morristown East David Crockett vs. Knox Central (at Morristown East) Dobyns-Bennett vs. Mountain Heritage (NC) (at Science Hill) Science Hill vs. Elizabethton Tennessee High vs. Greeneville Went and watched the D-B and East game last night and though D-B won, they struggled. At one point in the first half D-B had 8 fouls to East's none. As for the rest of the conference, I figure Boone or the Hill would be the favorites. Tennessee High, Volunteer and Crockett should be improved. Cherokee and D-B both lost their key star.
  4. Just reading through the thread... as far as eats go, I highly recommend Sloopy's. Within close proximity to J. Fred and the chili cheeseburger is to die for.
  5. Can the basketball scenario from last season rear its ugly head again on the gridiron this season? For those unaware, Tennessee High was in the driver's seat to win District 1-AAA in basketball last year until getting waxed by 20+ by a not very good Cherokee team on their own court. Over the years, it seems as if Tennessee High always loses to someone they shouldn't. Maybe this is the week in football. If so, Region 1-AAA will be in turmoil regardless of who wins between Crockett and Boone.
  6. This game is the WCYB TV 5 game of the week, so it can be streamed via their Facebook live if you're not in the WCYB TV area.
  7. I believe Tennessee High may be the only team over .500 D-B has played and defeated. Oak Ridge is right at .500 I believe.
  8. It's a Region game, so it's important, but D-B should be heavily favored in this one. Mo West comes in with only one win over crosstown Mo East. Will the Tribe be looking ahead to Science Hill? I doubt this coaching staff allows that. I think the Tribe pitch another shutout and break 50 in the process. I'll go D-B 55, Mo West 0.
  9. Both have played Oak Ridge. D-B waxed Oak Ridge while Farragut lost to them. I know both of those games were earlier in the season, but still, I think D-B should be favored heavily in this one.
  10. Wished I could be in two places at once Friday night, but alas the school I cover in southwest Virginia also has a huge game Friday night and my duties lie there. I will be checking ScoreStream on my phone intently on Friday night checking updates on this one. #RollTribe
  11. Sorry about that. When they announced the games on their Facebook Live the other day, that's what they called it, so that's how I typed it. I'm not familiar with any of the teams outside of upper east Tennessee, so I didn't know myself.
  12. Yes. They stream all their games on their Facebook page as well.
  13. WCYB out of Bristol is broadcasting 11 high school football games this fall on their CW network, here is the lineup they announced last night: August 22 -- Greeneville at Knox Powell (Thursday night) August 23 -- Tennessee High at Dobyns Bennett August 30 -- Science Hill at David Crockett September 6 -- Virginia High at John Battle September 13 -- Greeneville at Science Hill September 20 -- Volunteer at Cherokee September 27 -- John Battle at Patrick Henry October 4 -- Chilhowie at Virginia High October 11 -- Ridgeview at Union October 18 -- Greeneville at Elizabethton October 25 -- David Crockett at Daniel Boone Wasn't sure where to post this since there are multiple classifications involved with the Tennessee schools. TSSAA games are in bold.
  14. So, this starts Monday apparently. Science Hill (1 seed) and Tennessee High (2 seed) were the survivors of District 1. It looks like Sevier County and Jefferson County are the two who got out of District 2? Me being the newbie that I am... Is the tournament double elimination? Where is the tournament being held at? Only one team advances from Region?
  15. You were right on your prediction. I'll get you to handicap games for me next time I go to the casino. Lol. Science Hill wins the tournament over Tennessee High. D-B, the regular season champ, was eliminated by Tennessee High on Tuesday.
  16. I know that Tennessee High is normally pretty stout. This is actually the first year I'll be following the Tennessee side on the gridiron. So, what would your predictions be? Just what little I know, I was thinking 5-5 looking at the schedule: Wins: Hardin Valley, Daniel Boone, Jefferson County, Morristown West, Science Hill Losses: Tennessee High, Oak Ridge, Bearden, Farragut, Alcoa
  17. I'm not so certain that Tennessee High is an easy win. The other three, I would agree with you though.
  18. This is true. It will hurt DB both in football and basketball. I can't place blame on a kid though for trying to better his college recruiting resume. He's been a great role model to young children in the city of Kingsport. I hate to see him go, but I also wish him all the luck in the world moving forward.
  19. Exactly. What he said. I made the drive down last night expecting to get blown out of the gym, but Poore went with the strategy he thought could win him the game and almost did. It's not the tempo DB is used to playing by a long shot, but they made it work to near perfection last night.
  20. DB may have come up short vs. Bearden, but the Dawgs knew the Tribe were in the house. What a game. The Bearden students are fantastic. DB actually led 30-29 midway through the fourth and Bearden finally woke up scoring 7 points in a matter of seconds to go up 36-30 to provide the breathing room the boys from Knoxville needed. Absolutely loved the game and coach Poore's strategy of slowing the game down and playing stall ball almost worked to perfection. Good luck to the Dawgs moving forward and look forward to coming back this fall for football.
  21. Look forward to making the drive down to Oak Ridge Saturday, and especially excited to see Guinn play. So, I think I saw someone mention on another thread not to use the GPS location for the school and that the gym was around back of the school? Does anyone have the exact address? Also, how close proximity is Big Ed's Pizza to the school?
  22. I like how you think... but I don't think the same way. Lol. Sevier County is going to be a tough tough matchup in my opinion. And the way they just dominated Science Hill was amazing to watch. I was shocked Tennessee High played them to a 2 point game at their place after seeing them last night. The DB and East game was one of the best high school basketball games I have ever had the privilege to watch. Great atmosphere and just a classic high level game with a lot on the line.
  23. I don't know much about either team, but looking at their records, my gut instinct is telling me no. Lol.
  24. You got one out of two... Dobyns Bennett defeated Sevier County and Science Hill beat Daniel Boone. Neither game was particularly close. Science Hill should have no problem winning the region on Wednesday night, so to the Maryville posters, should I expect to be travelling to your place or Oak Ridge on Saturday?
