  1. Semantics,.. the fact that district teams have to travel 2 hours to play a team 15 miles away is dumb. There should always be exceptions to a rule and the flexibility to do what’s best for kids.
  2. I hope they win. WV was up by 10 at start of 4th qtr and Coffee County showed heart and resilience to battle back and win. WV was the better team in that instance as well, so it does prove what heart and determination can do.
  3. Are you posting in the right thread? We can have 100 classes for all I care. I just think decisions need to be logical and in the best interest of the kids. When two teams from the same district are playing each other, it makes 0 sense for them to travel 2 hours away to play. TSSAA needs to do better.
  4. Yes, I am aware. However, when two teams are playing from the same district, they should be allowed to play locally. Teams hosting regionals should absolutely get a cut of the gate in cases like the McMinn vs Walker game. Unfortunately, there was maybe 300 people there to watch. Had the game been played at Walker Valley (or on a neutral floor) there would have been 2k people maybe more. TSSAA would have have made a lot more money that night. It’s about the kids. It’s sad that kids had to play in front of a small crowd and it be a playoff game. I have no issue with traveling when both teams are from different districts. Jmho
  5. And I am confident, that Coffee County (team hosting) would profit more from a split of the gate (all while doing nothing). I bet there would be over 1,500 people at the game if played locally. I’m betting they have 200 at most now that it’s 2 hours away. Kids deserve to play in front of large crowds. Not to mention they all have school the next day.
  6. Walker Valley and McMinn have to drive 2 hours to play each other on Tuesday. The schools are 15 miles apart. Makes zero sense to me. TSSAA would get a huge gate if they allowed situations like this to play at the higher seed. Instead, the only crowd they will get is the parents of the players and cheerleaders. Not good for kids, not good for parents, and a dumb business model. Can anyone explain the logic behind this?
  7. WV’s best player, Seth Sausville (and probably best in the region), is likely out for the year. WV will play hard for sure, but they are small and will definitely miss Sausville’s scoring and defense.
  8. Yes, the official a yrd away called nothing, yet the head official 20 yards did. When you slow the video down, it’s clear that 9 took two steps into Lay. Also, I was referring to the last offensive play where Lay was closelined straight to his helmet. It decleated him. Same ref… nothing. I posted both videos. Really not wanting to argue about it. It’s over. That being said, Rhea will dominate Karns. It won’t be close. Rhea by two tds at minimum.
  9. Probably am. I even said I’m bitter. My senior son and his friends will never get to play high school football again. All because of one ref (the head official). Neutral or not,…. he 1000% cost us the game. Yes, I’m whining, bitter and all the above. But I’m also right and will get over it.
  10. Rhea will have no problem handling Karns. None, unless the same head ref is doing their game as last week Yes, I’m still bitter, but seriously,… I’ll be shocked if Karns scores more than a TD. Rhea and Powell is going to be a good game.
  11. Here it is…. https://m.imgur.com/a/o4hPYCC I see nothing worth throwing a flag on. Lay clearly stand up and is trying to get away from 9. If anything, 9 stepped toward Lay, but even his actions would not warrant a flag imo. To big of a moment. It literally cost WV the game. By the way this play immediately followed. …..yet nothing was called.. https://m.imgur.com/a/uFKs1W9
  12. No doubt about it, which is why this one is absurd. Literally nothing to warrant a flag. If any it would need to be on 9 for stepping into him. I just want to post the video so people can see how bogus this was…. Not looking to argue with a Karns homer.
  13. Tell me how to post a video. Let everyone decide. Number 9 clearly steps into Lay as he’s getting up. Lay looks at him and turns to run back to play. He did not “get in his face”. Regardless, the refs held their flags all night and then throw one that changed the outcome of the game.
  14. It was a horrendous call by the refs. Watched the video numerous times. There was zero reason to throw the flag. I’d post it I knew how.
  15. Then you can’t really say talent is the average. It’s not (in regards to WV history). WV has a ton of speed. And let’s not get carried away. None of this is personal. Just because I feel we need to run the ball more doesn’t mean WV folk want Akins gone. I just believe running the ball will help QB play as Lay is currently always facing 5 dbs. The program as a whole is definitely a lot better thanks to the admin, coaches, and parents… no doubt about it! Pope was special and was coached by his brother from peewee through high school. Great kid and family. Lay is a great athlete. He is a first year varsity starter at QB, and I just feel he’s being asked to do too much. Also great kid and family. As far as Jackson is concerned. We are in agreement. I think they moved him to wr to get him the ball more in space. He touched the ball 4 times last night on offense.
  16. Making a change by running power, jet sweep, etc 20 times a game instead of 4? Yes, make that change asap. You can not win consistently in football if you don’t run the ball. Putting that much pressure on a first year QB is taxing and it shows. Akins can still be pass heavy, but you have to be able to keep defenses honest. JMO.
  17. It’s frustrating to watch WV struggle lately because WV has talent. Injuries? Yes, but they still have a bunch of talent. Akins refuses to run the ball and that is the problem. He doesn’t even try. During the three game losing stretch Akins has ran the ball less than five times a game. They used to run power, heavy package, etc; however, since Carter, he stopped. The QB may be struggling, but when you face 5-6 DB and every single play (like last night), the numbers are against you. They practiced motion, jet sweep and other plays designed to get their playmakers the ball during their bye week and this week, but he never called any of the plays. Their defense is still really good. They caused 4-5 turnovers last night. Akins needs to get his play calling together and start running the ball as it will open up the passing lanes.
  18. Rhea coaches already know, man. I’m not that stupid.
  19. We are missing our stud wr, lb, center, and h back. Good news is that we get them all back before playoffs. The WV by 100 was totally a joke. I was just messing with my Cleveland buddies who lurk on here and know who I am. While it’s a rivalry, those kids go to church together and genuinely like each other. Destun is good friends with my boy.
