  1. Every team fights through injuries at some point during the grind of the season. Eagleville’s battle just happened at tournament time. Arguably their best two players were severely hobbled by ankle injuries heading into this week. Their Senior setter and Junior OS. I heard/read that they had an 8th grader, 2 freshmen, and a sophomore setter in their main rotation during the Region and sectional games. I watched the East Rob stream and will say that East Rob played very well especially defensively. They earned their trip to Mirfreesboro.
  2. Sale Creek has to be the favorite in A right now. I suspect the usual suspects will be in the ‘boro come tournament time and strange things happen but I don’t see anyone beating them at this juncture.
  3. I think I saw where Eagleville was down your way. The post said they went 3-0 but don’t have a clue who they played.
  4. Didn’t McMurtry resign from Tullahoma during a Christmas tournament? He did do a great job at Tullahoma during his tenure though.
  5. Coach Lynch always seems to have them ready come tournament time. I saw where Huntland has handled them pretty easily in their two previous matchups, what do you think the outcome will be?
  6. All home teams win. Richland/Eagleville will be only competitive game of the night.
  7. As long as games are being played at Huntland.... Huntland wins it.
  8. I think Fayetteville City wins this one.
  9. I think coaching is pretty good from top to bottom in the district. Lynch, Edmondson, and Horton are all very solid in my opinion. F City has also shown a lot of growth and development with their coach the past couple of years as well.
  10. Huntland is too good at home.
  11. 10 for Huntland is the clear MVP. 24 from Eagleville is good. 25 from Huntland is good on both sides of the ball. Robinson from Fayetteville. Moore has a couple of guards and a post that are probably in the conversation. Not sure the top end talent in the district is as good as it’s been in the past.
  12. I think Huntland at home could beat Pickett/Clay. They are guard heavy and like to play at a high tempo. Their best player can guard 1-5 on the defensive end. Don’t think anyone has much for Clarkrange especially if they have to travel there. It’s basically a 3 hour trip to Huntland. I think hosting that game is such an advantage. Just look at Eagleville the past two years. They knock off a Clay Co. team that was loaded and take Pickett to overtime. They were heavy underdogs in both matchups. No travel, refs from different associations, and large home crowds can lead to crazy things happening.
  13. If Moore and Eagleville tie at 7-3, what is the tiebreaker? Does Eagleville get second since they beat Huntland?
  14. I’ve thought all year that if anyone other than Huntland won this district/region it would be a huge surprise. I don’t see anyone going there and beating them in a tourney game until a Substate game.
  15. Eagleville is playing like a team who plays a bunch of Freshmen. I think they may start 3 of them. Can they limp to the finish line and still finish second and get that region bye?
  16. I don’t see Eagleville going to Huntland and winning. I believe they also have to go to Fayetteville. Another tough trip. My prediction is: Huntland 9-1 Eagleville 8-2(Possibly 7-3) Moore 6-4(Possibly 7-3) Fayetteville 5-5 Cascade 2-8 Cornersville 0-10
  17. I heard it was over midway through the second quarter.
  18. It looks like it could be a year full of tie breakers for seeding. I think the top four teams will split a bunch of matchups. Who can avoid dropping one to Cascade or Cornersville?
  19. Might be wrong about Moore. They scored 27 points against a previously 2 win Eagleville team.
  20. If Huntland finishes anywhere but first in the regular season and tournament, that would be quite the disappointment with the amount of talent they have back. No other team outside of maybe Moore County should be able to play with them. Moore is maybe more balanced with their combo of post and guard play but still aren’t nearly as deep or talented. Of course in the year of COVID and contact tracing who knows who will be full strength on any given night.
  21. Pretty sure Eagleville has PG and #24 back next year. Only graduate 3. But they were starters.
  22. Pickett struggled, by their standards, against Trousdale twice late in the year and almost got beat by Eagleville. The common denominator is they both played predominantly 2-3 zone. Outside of #11, they didn’t show the ability to consistently stretch the floor against the zone. #24 struggled against the length of Eagleville’s post players at times and was reluctant to shoot it outside of 15 feet, although she did hit 1 long jumper. Eagleville only turned it over 10ish times and was able to keep the game largely in the half court. I think the key is limiting turnovers against Pickett’s pressure that turn into transition buckets and trying to contain their tempo. I do think this game will be really entertaining. Two really good coaches and two really good teams playing with a lot on the line.
  23. That looks like a great draw to me. Should be a tournament.
  24. I think Eagleville graduates 3. Don’t think anyone else graduates many. Huntland’s season ended earlier than some expected but I believe they have almost all of their major pieces back.
