why doesn't oak ridge and Anderson Co scehdule a series? They are darn near neighbors and this could make for a good gate for a few years. With AC being who they are lately. Oak Ridge and AC in 2017 would have been a classic.

I remember the last time the Greene team went up to Anderson Co. I was there and it was not pretty for the home team. What was it 28 to 0 at the end of 1

You don't want that smoke Mavs, nothing has changed, they are just sitting back and chilling right now, giving you a little bit of a confidence boost until the Greene Machine strike, they will be ready come round 2

I thought Marivul was the big boys, Marivul and his little brother Alcoee. Marivul is just the bigger of the 2

I think Farragut comes out strong but soon there after warm ups, I think the only positive they have out of this game is showing up and it being 0 to 0 at kickoff. Marivul 42 Farragut 10

I know that much, Catholic was just a public school 2 years ago and Marivul still beat the brakes off of them. I just think Marivul if they played up sometimes might would fair well. But we will never know cause like you said "it'll never happen"

I'm just saying in general. Its more like a compliment. Maryville could prob compete on a regular basis against the privates but winning a title wouldn't be a given. I think it would be fun to see how they faired in a higher division

Just take Marivul out of the equation all together, they belong up there with the Catholics and Brentwood Academys

Oh yes, I remember those classics. See Alcoa and Oak Ridge of old are in the same vote. They can beat up on Marivul and stay right there with them, but they also wear you down in a tight 4qtr ball game to where a couple players take a play or 2 off exhausted and hit a big play or 2 and thats the difference. A tired rb fumbles. A tired qb throws a pick 6 uncharacteristically. Marivul RBs and QBs don't play both ways or at least dont have to. And come 4th qtr those fresh legs pay dividends

I wish Oak Ridge was still a top 3 team in 5a/6a. In reality this makes NET football so much better. And Oak Ridge has alot to do with why other teams got better. Teams used to want to be like Oak Ridge. They were on top of their game for many of years. Even back in the early 2010s, Oak Ridge wasn't too far off from Marivul and thats saying something being in a classification below. Marivul never really ran away in those games

Not going to jump off the charts and predict an upset, but I think McMinn can challenge some teams this year. Last year was a unpredicted 8 and 0 run for them but this year another year under the belt, I think this team may be scary come playoff time. Week 8 we shall see how much chemistry and progress has been made, but thats just a game to see how much you have gained on the big brothers instead of being 100 percent ready to go upset Marivul. The kids will go in there to win, but everyone knows its highly unlikely

I actually remember it now, I was overlooking them. Cause they beat Bearden pretty handily in the regular season and then laid an egg in the playoffs. But Bearden always starts slow and by playoffs. They are a 1 loss team with a 6-4 record. Glad to see McMinn actually being on the uprise. Maybe WB can be the next to follow

Yeah, and to think not that long ago you had Tee Higgins torching teams and still probably had to matchup against a Catholic team that was surely not a 5a program. But you are right about that, these other teams have all the shiny things that attract kids to come play for the wrong reasons, they take them away from childhood friends, teammates. Playing for their hometown school. Risk it all to maybe get playing time just to get a gold ring. The old days are behind us but those were definitely the good days. More evenly matched teams, each week in the playoffs you had to bring your A game or a william blount might knock you out

Whats so important about Oak Ridge that they get their own 38 page thread? They used to be the cream of the crop, what happened?

I was surprised to see how lopsided their victories have been so far this year. It looks like they can flat out run the field and score at will. Competition matters though, is why I asked

McMinn Co will come into the game undefeated and prob finish 2nd in the district, are they that much improved or are other teams down? Did they get a new offensive coord?
