  1. Exactly! Consolidation would put them still smaller than the schools listed. Carthage competes against them already so the only change would be gville. School would be bigger but it would still have that small town feel to it. No matter how you look at it, it’s still Smith County, everyone knows everyone and these kids grow up playing sports together and winning together. Football is the only sport they’re ever truly separated from pee-wee up.
  2. My issue with the illegal procedure penalty was if the H2O tackle was lined up too deep then the Trousdale right guard was as well. There was times his helmet was barely on the center much less breaking the plane. If you gonna call it then you got to call it both ways. Regardless other than momentum the penalties aren’t what best H20. They didn’t make the plays they needed to make and Trousdale did.
  3. One of the most truthful statements on this thread. Not sure what the issue is and why it’s never passed, I’ve heard different things, but they would be a dominant school in just about every sport. People can’t let go of the way “things have always been” and create a better way for the generations ahead of them.
  4. It don’t take much listening to realize Carthage is in a bad place program wise and doesn’t look to be getting better any time soon. Like King said Gordonsville is the premier job there now and in my opinion will only continue to grow. The best thing that could happen to Carthage is lose a few students and drop to 2a so they could be a little competitive beyond the 1st round. Like someone else said it’s sad when Carthage natives leave to coach other places and have no interest in coming back. That includes more sports than just football. Heck some choose to go to Dekalb and coach
  5. Don’t take much to figure SC out, just step outside it and listen. It’s amazing what people outside of the county say and know but talk to people in Smith County, family members/friends to be exact, and they’re clueless. A lot of outside people can call what is about to happen way before locals there can.
  6. A lot of people outside the county seen the firing coming. Some SC people need to dump that kool-aid out that he was serving and realize the program was headed down hill. Whoever they hire will have to come in ready to work and be dedicated to it to get it back up and going. There is a little talent there and some coming up. It will just take the right coach to bring it all together and keep it there.
  7. If there is any truth to that list SC fans better keep their fingers crossed it isn’t Hamilton or Luttrell.
  8. Ha them athletes not leaving there to go to SC even to play for Rankin! I think it’s time to do like other SC folk and get you in a new color. I don’t see you doing blue so it would have to be purple. Could we interest you in some purple and white? I got some family up there so I’m sure we could work shipping out to get it to you before Friday.
  9. Don’t matter if you rush for 1000 if you don’t score you can’t win. 300+ yards and only 14 points to show for it. Defense scored the other 7. MC is good and will be a tough out next year for sure though!
  10. Maynard was a different story and he left on his own terms. Not to mention the fact Maynard produced wins. Winning takes care of who to play and not to play, plus his product on the field at least looked like he knew what he was doing. He didn’t stay on social media boasting about the team and how they was world beaters either.
  11. Just use the “Beat Watertown” shirts in their place. Everyone has been effected by the toilet paper shortage
  12. I know for a fact he inquired about the job when Maynard left. He never got a call back from the Principal then, it was a personal vendetta. So he has been interested before. That being said I don’t see him leaving Gallatin to come now though.
  13. I really don’t think there was any more to it. Talking to friends and family there it wasn’t a good fit and pretty shaky from the start. I’ve heard he wasn’t the guy they wanted and had a very short leash the whole way. Take that and kids quitting and saying they’re transferring next year, whether they was or wasn’t, it all built up to something had to happen.
  14. Didn’t say schedule Red Boiling bud. I said schedule winnable games, big difference. Local teams would make sense and some of them could be considered as winnable, depending on coaching.
  15. I think Dyer would be a legit guess. I don’t see Jackson coming, I would think he’s looking to go bigger than SC. I don’t see Hackett going and that be his first Head Coach job. SC has put out several coaches that are coordinators or position coaches at other schools. Brady, Frye, Carter, Silcox, Clemons, Pope, Williams etc. There’s always Dickerson and Harville. Powell, the DC at SC now could be a candidate. Can’t go without mentioning the Gruden of Carthage, Chuck Gentry lol. I think one of these will end up being named in the end but who knows there may be a dark horse out there no one is thinking about also.
  16. I agree. It would be an uphill climb to start but they don’t expect much right now either. Schedule some winnable games for the next couple years to get you through. There is talent there in the lower grades so by the time they get up to high school you would have your program and philosophy established and be ready to become competitive again with most teams you’re gonna face. It’s going to take a coach that knows the history and the fan base and be willing to work to get it done though.
  17. I talked to a guy earlier who watched a little bit of practice today. From what he was telling me, trust me the players and coaches aren’t overlooking Marion. Fans may be but H20 football team has blinders on looking straight at Marion.
  18. I agree! Black helmets on black jersey/pants combo. SC on the 50 yard line painted black. Make it the “hole” like it’s supposed to be. The stigma around traditional programs is what makes them great. Most of the time change doesn’t go well.
  19. Oh I agree 100% but still no excuse for some of the losses they’ve had or the way they’ve lost. There isn’t as much talent there but there is some talent.
  20. When other teams appreciate you having a coach because they know they can win as long as he is there then there’s an issue....
  21. And they may have some success there but not all night. H20 has a Dude #9 there waiting. He was leading the state in tackles at one point this year. And no there isn’t a comparison in the 2 #9’s for each team.
  22. Exactly. Not all on the oline either. H20 has had a couple receivers step up over the last few weeks. Not to mention #3 wasn’t truly at RB the first 3 weeks. That move didn’t come until around week 3-4. Since he has a 1000 yards on the season.
  23. New starting center after Gordonsville. Shuffled the line again after Trousdale. Go compare points scored from the first 3 games to the last 8 games played for Watertown. Granted competition had some to do with it but there was some decent defenses sprinkled in along the way.
