We are not the best AA team in the state but we have been the best in our region since 2015. Even without the fat wills brothers. btw, you can’t even claim success until you overcome your 48% winning percentage. Losers...

How would you like the trivia question to be “how did coach Austin get his first region win”. Well steve, the answer is not that easy. Remember back when Covid was a thing. Well in coach’s second year he took a forfeit from a team that hadn’t practiced in two weeks due to quarantine. They couldn’t play Friday night but could Saturday. Well a coach Austin wasn’t having it. He took that win and ran to the house.

That’s my impression. I should send his staff a bottle of Jack or Jim to celebrate with but they sound more like milk guys.

Oh I see what it is. East Hickman only has a 22% overall winning percentage. ZERO region wins this year. Add that Coach Austin has only ONE region win in his four years as a head coach. That wasnt even while at EH. He doesn’t trust himself to lead his team to a win. He is only 7/28 as a head coach. The bright spot is three of his seven wins is from this season. Come on coach buckle em up.

What in the world you think TSSAA will do. I doubt they step in and tell this team to sack up. It would be nice but doubtful. I am still in shock that a coach would accept a forfeit over playing ball. Who does that given the chance? Especially as disadvantaged as waverly would be with zero work put into the game. If I had a kid on that team I would be livid at the lack of willingness to line up and earn the win. Only one reason, they are completely lacking trust in their teams abilities.

I sure am glad we don’t have to play McEwen every week. Lord had mercy on us because the fat boys there would just eat us alive. They are sooo good. You would think they are winning championships every single season. How many district/region titles do they have now? Oh wait, they have all this supreme talent with a coach that has lost 2/3s of the games he has coached. It’s sad that you have to come to waverly threads just to garner comments about the greatness of McEwen. You all can’t even get people to brag on you in your own threads. We have about 10 or so waverly fans here then you. The only McEwen fan with the mental fortitude to figure out how to get on the internet. Good luck smart guy.

The question still remains, what does it say to your team when your coach won’t let you play. I will tell you what it says. It tells me he knows he does not have a decent football team and that is the only way he can get wins. Now you can go roll around on your magic carpet and dream of the glory days. Maybe the fat boys in McEwen will bring you some bbq.

A coach would do that yes, especially given how we travel. But their coach obviously does not trust his kids to strap up an so bring it.

I see you point but to it’s the game of football. Why have a football team for free wins. That doesn’t make you better and cheats your own team out of a game. Kinda cheap if you ask me. Even a mortgage has a grace period because at the end of the day they want to get paid. I guess that’s the difference in serious programs and those that win every so often.

Word is they they were asked to move the game against Waverly to Saturday over COVID reasons. Waverly won’t even be able to practice this week because their school is shutdown. East Hickgirls would rather get the free easy win than let their kids play ball. Too bad their coaches have zero confidence in their team’s ability to lace up play ball. I get it, I get it. Take the free easy region win. But what does that tell your team. The coaches are scared to buckle the chinstraps and line up in the trenches. Pretty sad. What good is a team whose coach has no confidence in the players on the team. Soft soft soft generation we have become. I hope the tigers can field some kids to play, given the lack of confidence, we could likely head over with our cheerleaders and still be competitive.

I don’t see the big deal. He didn’t call out a students name, current or past. He questioned a mans fatherhood who who questioning his coaching a string the pot in a way. I like what Vandy posts. I’m not bashing either one. I just don’t see it as bug if a deal as some of you. “Swept under the rug”. He didn’t call out a Camden student. I don’t see an issue at all. Benton County school don’t have a dog in the hunt.

I know the Waverly boys can’t wait to play westview. Last year they focused on beating McConnell. McConnell knew the players for both teams and exploited that. This year will be different. They can call us a lesser team if they want. Our boys are hungry for the game.
