  1. Engineers, doctors, executives etc. don't work for the circus, clowns do. Reading this thread, it sounds like Grundy is a three ringer! Nobody of quality, in their right mind, would go there (toxic management, poor pay, toxic community).
  2. Those people clearly don't "get it," and they don't care about football. Consistently rolling out a losing team, and never supporting the program should call for disciplinary action. They would be better off shutting it down. It's hard to attract the best of anything, teachers or coaches, you have to pay for it. Teachers aren't going to get rich, but the wages in CC are essentially choosing poverty.
  3. One of the WORST paying districts in the state...
  4. Absolutely, Very tough to align, but the socioeconomics, demographics, and just overall culture is starkly different. I’m not sure how you’d do it.
  5. That is about what I assumed. Integrity and work ethic go a long way in this business though!
  6. I’m brutally honest on these forums, so I don’t want to ruffle feathers haha. You’re close enough to Todd county. Is he a good man? He seems to be, but we all know what interviews can do. If he is, that’s huge. My inclination is to believe it because I don’t know many military men that are scum bags! Haha. Hop town is good ball, few decent programs, but the prestige is dragged down by the bad programs. Mayfield would win in any class in any state, maybe not championships, but win.
  7. When run correctly, much like a private school. Re: Maryville, Alcoa etc.
  8. The majority, Mayfield is an outlier. Eastern and central KY dominates the state championships, and that football isn’t quite on the level of east/middle TN ON AVERAGE... I know KY football very well as I’ve coached in 3 state championships and won 1...
  9. It was really bad. Are you watching the Todd Co. QB OR his son in middle school? It’s going to be interesting for sure. Most 1A in this area destroy western KY 1-3A maybe even 4A by wide margins.
  10. There are positives: military man sounds like a great person in interviews talented son (qb) seems blue collar
  11. Did you watch 2019 stuff? I don’t think I can post links here because the site is “forbidden.” The VAST majority was some variation of 30 personnel. I haven’t seen anything yet of them in anything besides these (power sets.)
  12. The work ethic, integrity, and desire should be there with a military man. Those are major positives, but the football side is much in question. Nobody is against him doing well, but to say it doesn't make sense, in light of all the other candidates is absolutely accurate.
  13. The last 2A coach had a great resume... An honest evaluation of someone's previous record/resume, is more than fair, when they are expected to resurrect a 5A program in one of the toughest regions in the state.
  14. County school system vs. City/Independent school system. Please don't use a false equivalency argument. My son goes to a city school and the disparity between that school and the county district is incredible in all aspects from academics, campus life, and athletics.
  15. Look them up on unapproved website (the nation's most popular high school sports site) Maximum Preparatory Athletics and on hudl for some video... almost anyone in the greater Knoxville area. Lane among them.
  16. They were power football wishbone, power i, wing t concepts at Todd Co.
  17. They definitely passed on Ellision and other qualified coaches. Lane, I could understand because, I don't think he is certified.
  18. Honestly, this one is puzzling. They passed over qualified, proven applicants to hire a guy from a lower tier 2A school in Western KY. The teams he beat last season were a combined 7-57! He was a position coach for a couple years before that and coached middle school. Best of luck!
  19. He coached 1 year there, was a position coach and middle school coach before that. He had his hat in the ring for every head coaching opening this off season. He was turned down by Clarksville NE.
  20. And part of your problem is ignoring the biggest 2 letter word in the post “IF!” IF anyone hangs around to “torpedo” a coach because they didn’t get the job has a serious character/ego problem. IF that is true... but it was convenient for you to ignore that sentence I guess.
  21. Reveals a lot about one's character, how they handle disappointment or when things don't go their way. This is not a good look, if it is true.
  22. Alcoa beats both of them by 14+
  23. It is pure insanity... we don't even have 300 football playing public schools, 3 classes would be plenty. There would be some epic playoff games in ALL rounds. We unequivocally do not need 192 schools going to the playoffs. With 5 classes we would still have over half of all the football schools (160) getting in automatically and with 4 classes (128). There is a reason March Madness is so exciting in college basketball 351 teams are vying for 68 tournament slots ~20% get in.
