  1. Agreed. Single A is correct.
  2. Yes. I understand what you said. See previous responses.
  3. Also, some of those left out are on Top 5 teams in the polls. Some on Top 10. And I’m not going to name names of those who received recognition but in that category. I do not want to take anything away from them. They are good players.
  4. This statement furthers the transfer epidemic. If I’m good and want to be the best in the state I need to go where I’ll have a good supporting cast, not my hometown...
  5. I just know some of the finalist aren’t even the best player on their team. Some are not the best player in their district. Does not make sense. And we’ll just have to agree to disagree. I do not think you should get this honor because you play on a team that has a history of success or recent success. This isn’t a team award and if Player A can line up against Player B and is better, they should be the one recognized
  6. Absolutely, not taking anything away from the girls. They are all good players. However, I know for a fact there are 5+ girls in East Tennessee more skilled, better players and just absolutely upstanding young women who were left off these lists. (And that’s just this area). Because they don’t play in storied program? On the best team? Their coaches don’t kiss enough butt? Frustrating, to say the least.
  7. Just. Because. A. Player. Plays. In. A. Storied. Program. Does. Not. Mean. They. Should. Be. A. Miss. Basketball. Finalist. East Tennessee snubbed again. Let’s release names of “committee” members.
  8. Are the eligible for this award since they are not TSSAA affiliated?
  9. From East TN, these girls deserve consideration: AA Sullivan Central, Abbey Crawford Northview Academy, Campbell Penland Grainger, Tori Rutherford South Greene, Kiley Collins Gatlinburg-Pittman, Ivy Bales AAA Bearden, Jakhyia Davis Maryville, Denae Fritz Stone Memorial, Emma Capps Powell, Bailey Trumm
  10. Can we all just agree the rankings and strength of schedule on CoachT means nothing? Teams that have great records and don’t play good teams are going to be ranked higher. Playing a “ranked” team from A is a little different than playing even average AAA teams, thus skewing both ranking and strength of schedule. Bottom line, post-season should be fun. What are Alcoa and Northviews best two wins of the year so far?
  11. I think strength of schedule may wind up hurting some of these "dominate" teams down the road. At least it has the past few years. Wins and impressive records are nice and all but not when you play struggling single A teams for half of your non-conference schedule.
  12. Not whole game, but yes, up by 40-50 you run every offense you have, tell your team to make 20 passes and only score on layups. It’s called respect. You don’t do that to high school kids who have the courage to get out there and represent their school and community so their school doesn’t have to consolidate the program. There’s something they say about karma...
  13. No, he should be reprimanded. Absolutely ridiculous to allow that to happen as a head coach. His “explanation” in the paper was just as ignorant.
  14. May not have to wait until next year...AA has more parity in this area than it has in a while. I can see Greeneville beating any of the teams in this area of the state. There’s usually 2 or 3 dominant teams but not this year.
  15. If it’s state level it’s because they don’t suck up to the Middle TN mob.
  16. This is pretty accurate. I’d actually say Northview, Meigs, and Sullivan Central are the top 3 in the East right now in that area followed by Alcoa, Grainger, and South Greene. Greenevillle is young but could definitely make a run post season too. It should be interesting with no stand alone top team from this area.
  17. Since the previous assessment was discussing who will come out of the sectionals with the teams I mentioned that’s what I was continuing to reference. My bad? If you look at a map of the state Macon’s in the dead center, just to the north. But, hey! We’ll take them in the East so East Tennessee can claim some Gold from the perceived Middle Tennessee strong hold on girls basketball!
  18. After another week it definitely looks like Sullivan Central, Elizabethton, Grainger, Northview, Greeneville, and Alcoa are in front of everyone else in the East.
  19. Excited to see Meigs and see how our East/Upper East TN teams stack up against them. However, the out of state teams sound like they could steal the show! Upperman and Greeneville will be one to keep an eye on too. Lady Devils beat the East’s favorite to make it back to the Boro and Upperman is “ranked” high as well.
  20. Coach, your players know you’re picking SG to take the district? Our Region tourney should be fun either way.
  21. North Greene is very good for A. Not Greenfield or Loretto good but best in East. They have a transfer from DB that REALLY helps. I’d say they’ll be in Boro for sure. Best team in Greene Co. all classes.
  22. I’d say this is the most likely change IF a change occurs. Still a big gap in those AAAA numbers but looks alright for the other three classes. Is travel the big issue for splitting districts in a four class system or has it even been discussed?
