  1. That’s him. He serves as DC at my alma mater, Chattooga High School in Summerville, Ga.
  2. I’m not familiar with Metro. Maybe someone who is will chime in. I’ve seen them shuffled in small systems, so it shouldn’t be a problem at all in Metro, if they do want him in another building.
  3. One of my favorite stats to point out; The late Bill Horton never won another playoff game at Rhea Co. after Hammontree ended his 10 year run as his defensive coordinator.
  4. Yes. I have seen that cause problems. In my last coaching stop, if a coach resigned they got them into another building. Sometimes the very next day. Welcome.
  5. I’m not used to the selfie generation myself. There’s an old saying “Don’t complain when the rattlesnake bites you, you knew it was a rattlesnake when you picked it up.” Lol. Maybe it will work out well for both sides. Good discussion.
  6. ..who will be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on July, 1, 2024 in Boston. You can read a story about it on the TSSAA website.
  7. I respect your honest opinion, sir. But as a friend and former colleague of Coach Waggoner, I will defend him up to a point. Brad is a good coach. You don’t spend time on an ACC staff without being good. He led the school in Georgia, where I ended up finishing my career, to their best season in 29 years. He has improved each situation that he has been in, including, as you no doubt know, leading Trousdale Co. to Game 15. GP knew his history when they hired him. And, as he said, he has had an eye on this Florida job for many years. Brad is one of very few who really enjoys the application/interview process. I especially appreciated the way that he included and paid homage to Hall of Fame Coach Benny Hammonds at GP. He leaves GP in a better place than they were in when he arrived, IMO. Now it’s up to them to make a good hire and keep building on what Brad started. Thank you for your time.
  8. Not a GP guy but am a friend of Coach Waggoner. He felt certain that they would get move down to 2A this past season, and felt he had a team capable of winning state. BTW, the article in the Knoxville paper said that he had one HC job in Georgia. This is not correct. He was HC at Chattooga, Decatur, Lumpkin Co. and Elbert Co.
  9. And the winner of that game almost always won the 5 AAA Championship.
  10. Nobody can win at La Vergne. The school has been open since the late 80’s and has a total of 2 playoff victories, one by SS.
  11. As one who currently resides not far from Cartersville- Amen!
  12. No dog in this but not Private AAA. It’s all about the two Chattanooga privates the past several years.
  13. I have no insight Cherokee. My stepdad is a follower, but not connected that well.
  14. I’ve seen more than a few in the 40 plus years that I have been in it.
  15. A friend here in Georgia had a successful, though brief run at Heritage in the 80’s. Mr. Barney you no doubt remember him.
  16. I could probably name more than a dozen from my 40 plus years. Great topic, IMO.
  17. Off topic, but a staff I was on once started taking a knee late in the 3rd qtr. The fans didn’t particularly like it, but I gained a lot of respect for our HC.
  18. Nah. I have no dog in this. He is a friend and I wish him the best, but I have no interest or involvement in Rhea Co. football. My stepdad does, but I haven’t heard him express a preference yet. This is their decision.
  19. I didn’t mean to imply that there was anything wrong with posting on here or thinking out loud about specific potential candidates. Also nothing wrong with respectful debate. And for the record I have an X account, as well as a Facebook account with over 2000 followers.
  20. There’s an old saying “Those that know don’t talk, those that talk don’t know.” Lol.
  21. Guys, I know it’s fun to speculate on sights like this. But this job literally has just opened up. They are early in the accepting applications phase. Then they will move on to the first round of interviews and proceed from there. In other words, it’s going to be a while. The only exception to the above is if you have an obvious successor on staff already. And even then it doesn’t hurt to advertise the job as you might get an application or two that you wasn’t expecting.
