  1. I hear coach Sisk say over and over at every interview, "we are working on this and were getting better at that and we got some young guys that are gonna figure it out as we keep working in practice". It sounded so cliche' to give that as the stock answer over and over game after game. But it was apparently true, they are working on this and that and they did have young guys getting better and showing them game film mistakes and working hard to correct them is possible. I know from a "Jimmy and joe" standpoint we don't likely match up the best with some of the teams that will be in the playoffs. But i see the team possibly peaking at the right time of the season to at least have a chance to get in a few more games and maybe get a rematch to avenge a short staffed loss from earlier in the season. If they can stay healthy and play some mistake free football they could surprise some people that had wrote them off for dead after the Pearl-Cohn loss. I have always believed that on any given Friday night, its just the 11 kids on the field that wanted it the most that could win. Size helps and talent helps but preparation and heart goes along way to overcoming obstacles. I could stand to see another 6 or 7 weeks of wildcat football this fall.
  2. The Tullahoma team just looked different last Thursday. I know Montgomery central didn't seem to have the ability to answer when the cats really got moving. But Tullahoma's offense seemed to have figured out when to use the right player at the right time. That was lacking in the first few games. I would almost call it deceptively dangerous at times. But they look like they could have handled CreekWood and Marshall County with the game plan they had. Maybe we will get to see at least one of those in a post season rematch.
  3. I really hope that Lawrence county gets the wildcats to dig deep and figure out a way to win. i think with a complete team they should be able to get by Lawrence county although history tells ut it is never easy for a wildcat to beat another wildcat. The next challenge should Tullahoma get by Lawrence county being at Greenbrier. I give the cats a 8/10 chance of winning that last playoff spot by bringing their A game to Greenbrier. I listened to the Creekwood vs. Greenbrier game last night and got the feeling that the Wildcats chances at making the playoffs got better from the Creekwood win. With 3 games lef, and not knowing the status of region 6-4A, are thinking about the long drive to Lexington in week one and then seeing the rest of this playoff season being in region 5-4A until Haywood county invites someone to enjoy a crisp cool evening in Brownsville to decide, who from the west, plays Greenville for a Gold Ball.
  4. Realignment is good for one more season after this. Its a 3 year process. So everyone will be where they are thru 2023 at least. Tullahoma was the second largest 4A school for this current realignment. However as schools in every class grow so does the number grow to move from 4A to 5A. At this time I see the 5A threshold moving up just higher than Tullahoma's numbers would permit them to advance. for the 2020 numbers 1115 students were needed to be in the 5A class. Tullahoma reported 1090 and I think that may have dropped some as of today. I would be surprised that they don't wind up in 4A for 2024-2026 realignment. I don't understand being in the West side of the bracket but they made it work so I'm not complaining.
  5. They got the strongest hardest to tackle kid on the team playing linebacker. If he was running back and they controlled the time of possession by just pounding the ball down the field until they figure out what QB to try they wouldn't need him at linebacker. They would stay on offence 3/4 of the game. he's at linebacker 3/4 of the game because they only ran 2 plays in the whole 3rd quarter against Creekwood. They got another kid that played running back in the Elite football league and they put him in a 77 jersey. He hasn't even played. Might be one of the strongest 14 year olds in the state. Let him have the ball and see what happens. he's got way too much speed to stand on that line. I just see them on Friday why can't the coaches that see them everyday figure it out?
  6. Getting to play high school football is a privilege. And young men and young ladies must conduct themselves properly to get to enjoy that privilege. The coaches are entrusted with the responsibility to see that this occurs. football is a team sport and coaches are part of the team. if part of the team fails to live up to expectations then the whole team shares in the burden. being a good coach means sometimes having to decide to swallow a bitter pill for the good of the program. You are often judged as to how you handle adverse situations such as the THS program is currently undergoing. I will make no allowances for the program as of the Pearl-Cohn game this season other than to say that if the coaches will call plays that the current roster can execute and not try to be the Dallas freaking cowboys on Friday night it could be a really close game. There are players still dressing out with a ton of ability and can play ball. But in 3 of the four games and a scrimmage i've watched this season, the coaches, mainly OC, don't know how to use what they have to work with. They have the wrong kids in the wrong spots. And they just want to call the plays the kids playing can't execute well. As of today I give the firebirds a 5 touchdown advantage. I expect the mercy clock to run 2 full quarters.
  7. I will try to be as objective as possible. The Wildcats are a team. A young team. But a team that will play to the final whistle. I suspect that the cats will appear undersized against the Raiders. I suspect that we will play more kids on both sides of the ball than the Raiders. The Raiders had their hands full with Franklin county and could have put that game away but didn't. I think the Cats can get it done one more time. They have just enough talent and more than enough coaching power to get by one more 6A opponent this year. The young sophomore QB in for CC will not be able to stay out of the crosshairs of the Cats linebacker blitzes. Ask the kid from Shelbyville how fast they get to you. If our coaches dial up enough pressure to keep the passing game dazed and confused then our offense will get enough points on the board to find a W. Our kicking game gives us some tools that many high schools don't have the luxury of counting on. I think it will be a close game as close as we have seen in very long time. But I can't vote against the Cats after seeing the Shelbyville game. Most of the Wildcats players were on the state champ team so yeah there is that. And a home game.
  8. It has to be they absolute worst play by play on radio in the history of the game. Tough loss for the Red Raiders it looks to be a long year again for them. They better go ahead and get used to instant coffee one more year because the pot is staying put.
  9. your insight was very good. Just sometimes kids will surprise you. I have seen the depleted Wildcats over at Tullahoma work this summer and felt pretty good that Shelbyville wasn't firing on all cylinders just yet. Every Friday night it can be a whole new team take the field as young men develop. I wouldn't have bet against PC at cane ridge either but it wasn't their night.
  10. Sorry to get the pushover season off to a rocky start. The war eagles just ain’t 4A ready yet. The red rock kicking game gave the edge to the defending state champs in this one. 16-7 Tullahoma stays unbeaten 16-0 as of tonight.
  11. I'll take the Wildcats in this one. 24-14 final score. We have the best place kicker and punter all in one in the state again this year so the Eagles will start every drive at the 20. And if the wildcat offense stumbles on a drive the kid can punt 65 yards almost every time. There are no short fields. This helps a depleted Wildcat roster hang around in some games this year until they figure out how to win. They are a bit small but most of these kids played more than half of every game last year due to the cats blowing everyone out so they know how to get it done. It won't be easy and it might not be pretty but I can't bet against the cats until at least Pearl-Cohn sees them. I really want to see Tullahoma keep it on the ground and set the tone with a strong run game. Our QB's have good arms but need to develop some in the pocket presence a bit more. If the Cats win it will be in the trenches.
  12. Rebels gonna need a center. Poor kid done snapped it over the QB’s head like 5 times tonight. They really going to need to tighten up to play against CC this year. I call it even. Right now. A few kids look fast but they are far from a contender as of tonight.
  13. John olive was an outside candidate? Please elaborate on why this worked then but wouldn’t work now
  14. I can't speak for anyone in any official capacity. But I personally feel that we have at least 2 assistant coaches that would fit right in. If that that wasn't in the cards, despite what I read in the Knoxville News, I would welcome Steve Matthews back home to Tullahoma. I don't know what his status is as of today.
  15. This next season for 2022 will be full of Jimmy's and Joe's also. No real superstar D1 commits that I know of. We don't even know if our Head coach is any good right now. I like our freshman class that will be sophomores then but no game changers there either. What they win they will have to do it with discipline and hard work. In the end it is always just 11 guys against 11 guys. Sometimes the the bigger more talented guys don't always prevail. Sometimes the ones that work the hardest and have the grit get the victory. I expect to make the playoffs at the least but how far they get nobody knows.
  16. i'd have Pearl-Cohn a little higher than that. On a good day they are top 5.
  17. 16 of our kids have to play basketball now. Really back to work on Monday.
  18. We did it guys, the gold ball is in the west this year.
