  1. Omg. Eli Davis just did his best Goldberg impersonation and caused a fumble. Nick Moog scoops and scores.
  2. I reviewed some things and GV is penalty prone. Some teams have had success in the ground against them, statistically. Where GV shines is if you give them a short field. I suppose that's true for any hs team but when you're average field position for starting drives is the 50yd line of course you'll have a lot of success. Just an observation.
  3. Just more stuff to ponder. AC has had to push through some tough games, sometimes into the 4th quarter. The game against Rhea county was one where they should have beat that team by 5 scores but had 5 or 6 turnovers. The first game against Betsy. Came out thinking they had it won and got punched in the mouth, had to get going and battle back. The second game against Betsy. AC was about 2 scores better than them. Betsy would score and AC would answer. The last drive on the ground was impressive by the line, even though we fumbled on the 1. The Bearden game was similar to the 2nd Betsy game in that AC had to answer every time Bearden tried to make a game of it. I say all that to bring up this. AC has had to play some games into the 4th quarter. Besides the MO West game has GV had to dig deep this season? I'm in no way saying they can't or won't. I'm just wondering if that experience will matter in this game. I think from an historical standpoint it benefits AC since in years past they have fell apart at times once GV gets a break, a lead or a big play. Maybe AC will be more composed if that happens again this year. Just stuff to consider. GV is still the overwhelming favorite, ranked #1, and with a history of recent success over AC. AC is still the underdog.
  4. Y'all need to pick a thread and stay with it. There are currently 2 going.
  5. Great point. I wondered that too. They ran Gavin several times on that drive. He was really trying to make it into the end zone. Maybe it was a combination. I thought nick still looked pretty fresh but they wanted power running to grind it out on the ground and clock to finish the game. Earlier I posted about getting the 3rd back, Meyers, some touches. He's smaller but quicker. He has a nice burst of speed. That would make a good change up and give Nick and Gavin a breather. I think the cooler weather helps guys playing both ways, to an extent. That last drive AC just lined up and ran right at Elizabethton about 5 or 6 times in a row. It's forecast to be clear and cold next Friday. High of 45 during the day and a low of 25. How does this affect both teams?
  6. I was at a couple of those games. There was a close game until the second half. I distinctly remember the fake punt that went for a TD. There was a crazy block in the back that wasn't called, almost exactly like the Elizabethton TD on a slant pass last Friday night. It was the same side of the end zone and side of the field. Almost same exact spot. I also remember that AC looked good and had a lead for a while but... Once GV got the lead AC kinda panicked, started playing tight, trying to do too much. I've mentioned it before but AC was still in the game and had gotten a stop. GV punted. AC kid had no business trying to catch and run with it. Should have let it bounce and start from the 25 or whatever. Instead, trying to make a play, tries to catch the ball on the run. Fumbles it, GV recovers and does what GV does. Makes you pay for mistakes and scored with a short field. Mavs just seemed kinda disheveled from then on. I do think the schedule that AC has played this year has made them more mentally tough and resilient. They've def been tested by some good, and some average, teams. I'm hopeful that AC can get over the GV hump this year but it's still a big task. I think they have the ability but it'll take a great effort and maybe a bit of luck.
  7. He does a great job for the football team, no doubt. No argument. The other stuff you just said is a lie. Girls soccer team gets told hours before kickoff they have to have their home game in the pasture because football needs the field for practice. A home game on the schedule and they kicked the girls off the field the day of the game. For practice. Girls BB gets kicked out of gym where they practice so football can do walk throughs in the gym on game day. Girls BB had a wealthy donor that was a fan of Nikki Anosike. That's who paid for the girls locker room makeover. GT didn't donate those funds. Nikki was a great hire but she saw the culture and bolted. That, and to take care of her family. She didn't want to be a part of that. The weight room is almost exclusively for football use. AC is very close to violating TSSAA rules for the strength program. It's not supposed to be sport specific but when is the last time they did anything for the volleyball, girls BB or wrestling team? Nope it's all football specific stuff. They don't work with other sports well at all. The student body knows. They really do. If you ask them they'll you AC only cares about football. That's fine just admit it.
  8. Not ours, he coaches football. Campaigns about 15 separate Twitter accounts for football. Posts videos of himself washing the football team uniforms after games. Hypes football non stop. Others sports maybe get a tweet if they're lucky. Even when they compete for a championship. I get that people have favorites but if you're the AD aren't you supposed to support ALL students? Be the football director if you want, make it a new title or whatever. There's a reason why so many other parents I'm friends with can't stand the guy. They all have athletes not on the football team. I'm glad mine are graduated.
  9. If they were going to put a spy on the GV qb it would be Eli. I think he's a step quicker than Noe with just as good instincts. I just like the way he plays, taking nothing away from Noe. The problem is match ups. GV has athletes everywhere. If AC can win the line of scrimmage (first priority) they then have to win the skill position match ups. Yeah, we've got receivers but so do they. Whose secondary is better? Can AC win the line of scrimmage enough so that the secondary isn't exposed for long? Time will tell
  10. For football? Yes. For other sports, not so much. Especially girls sports.
  11. This last part. Share athletes. Support for all students, not just football. I don't know the guy but he's got my vote. GT couldn't give 2 craps about anything other than football.
  12. Holy crap. Just saw the stats from the GV vs Gibbs game. Gibbs had -17 rushing at the half and went 25 attempts for 3 yards in the game.
  13. So it begins [Insert pic of King Theoden] AC has been resilient this year. They have shown the ability to run or pass. They're thin on the line but still healthy. Lots of weapons. I would have liked to see Andrew Meyer get a couple carries. He's got a quick burst in contrast to Moog and Noe. A good change up if you will. AC has struggled this year against a QB who can extend plays with his legs and deliver the ball. That alone was what kept Elizabethton in this game. GV is tough. The defense is solid this year. What makes GV so hard to beat is that they have athletes everywhere. There's really no weakness. They might not be great in some areas but they ain't bad anywhere. The D line for AC played well tonight. At one point Elizabethton had negative 10 yards rushing close to halftime. Of course they made some adjustments and got some stuff going but overall AC won the line of scrimmage tonight pretty decidedly. The LBs for AC also tackled down hill all night. Props to them. GV will need to throw some. Ac does a decent job getting to the qb but often doesn't finish. Unless the qb is a statue that is. There's more but based on what I've seen I think GV is between 1-3 scores better than AC. AC will need a good start and to find something that works. Can they duplicate the running game they had tonight? If so, it could be a ball game. AC will need to play mistake free ball and get a break or two to win IMO. Lastly. To those who say it's all for nothing of AC doesn't get a gold ball this year. That's your ego talking. I don't tie my sense of self worth to what a bunch of HS kids do on Friday nights. It's about competing. If you lose with full effort, that's nothing to be ashamed of. That's life. Always try to be the best version of yourself you can be, no matter where that lands on a scale. Good luck to both teams. I hope for a full effort clean game with no injuries.
  14. Ugh, I was afraid of that. Let's just hope for a full effort good game with no injuries. I think it'll take a clean game with a break or two AC's way for them to get the win. I also think ACs coaches get tight against GV. Hopefully that doesn't happen too.
  15. I disagree. It's never for nothing, It's about competing. If you lose with full effort, there's nothing to be ashamed of. That's life.
  16. Thanks Noonesfool I just hope for a good game. The AC line has been suspect (to me) all year but they've been resilient even though they're thin. They really took over tonight. I know GV has a lot of depth there so we'll see how it works out. I don't know but suspect GV has a lot of athletes at wr, te slot... that makes them hard to cover.
  17. I don't know that losing to GV is a disaster. Would it sting? Sure. GV is undefeated with athlete's all over the field and a great defense. They are number one, rightfully so. AC hasn't beaten them in a looong time. It's true AC will be down next year, we lose a lot. Eventually they'll pop back up again though. I firmly believe that just like 2018, the winner of this game goes on to win it all. This game is the defacto championship game. IMO
  18. AC recovers on side kick, runs out the clock with another 1st down. AC o line impressed me tonight, very balanced attack. A mobile qb that can extend plays and still deliver the ball down field are the mavs weakness. But that's most HS teams. If AC doesn't fumble on the 1 it's 35 - 24 AC which is about right IMO. AC looks about 2 or 3 scores better than Elizabethton. Elizabethton has some really nice players. 82 was tough all night. The QB was outstanding. They had a td with a block in the back but they also dropped a td pass in the first half so I guess it evened out.
  19. I'm not sure that wasn't the worst thing for Elizabethton. They have a chance for the on side kick.
  20. Taken down by Eli Davis for a safety. AC 30 E 24. I'm sure on side kick is coming
  21. Eli Davis with a huge tackle for loss back to the 4. 4th and 8 Elizabethton
  22. Disaster for AC. Noe going in the endzone for a TD fumbles at the 1. Elizabethton recovered at the 2 with 2 minutes to go
  23. 34 yard field goal for Elizabethton. 28-24 AC
  24. We are not watching the same game. That block in the back was 100% what sprung him for TD.
