  1. Agreed. Friday night Boone could have scored at will. QB only made one pass attempt after that first score in the 3rd. I don't think the skill starters even played in the 4th Q. Boone will do enough to have a comfortable lead and then protect their players and avoid injury. Jenkins doesn't seem to be big on padding a player's stats.
  2. Is this even going to be a game? Boone is ranked #6 in Class 5A now, Cherokee is 0-2. As long as Boone stays healthy, and doesn't underestimate their opponents this team should do well this season. This will be their first conference matchup.
  3. Technically Boone only had 67 yards of penalties against WR. One cost another TD though so yes, Boone needs to clean those up.
  4. Aiden Clark was only starting while Jake Fox recovered from shoulder surgery. Plan was to always put Fox back in as starter, they just weren't sure he was ready (as in recovered) Both are great athletes. So good to hear Clark is going to be fine. I'd assume he'll be out for awhile though with concussion protocol. I've seen lots of helmets coming off this year. Is something different about the chin straps?
  5. I'm going with Toppers. I think WR's Bryant was injured and honestly they don't seem to have much else. Surely the Toppers have a little more depth? It'll be ugly but SH for the win.
  6. Everything about WR was well done as far as I can tell. They really built a beautiful school inside and out. Dances at the school are next level from the photos I've seen.
  7. Volunteer made WR look good. And WR is not good. Volunteer will have a rough season. Although I've not seen Seymour or Grainger but East held their own against Crockett and scored a lot.
  8. I think a lot of people on here underestimated Boone. Again, left another 7 points off the board due to penalties. And they didn't even throw it the second half... just cruised with a running clock. West Ridge is not very deep. Relied too heavily on one player and I think they have the wrong QB behind center. Should have gone with the kid that lead their JV to success last year. WR has to expand their playbook or they'll not have much success the rest of the season. Boone however, if they stay healthy and coaches call the right plays I think can make a deep run-in the playoffs.
  9. Many were picking Powell to repeat so if AC beat them... that's saying something. SH looked disorganized and inexperienced. And without their center they're sure to have some more bad snaps this Friday. I'm going with AC.
  10. Not sure why Elizabethton isn't going with their Senior QB in the SH game. I heard he didn't finish at the top of the depth chart but when he went in the last couple of years when Rollins was out I thought he did a good job. Completed passes, kept his head etc. Would like to see what the team looks like with him instead of those younger guys.
  11. My understanding is those posts are not from Hensley's Instagram- but from SH's Barstool account. If you want to be entertained, or disgusted- depending on your take- check out any high school's Barstool account. It's all trash talk about the other team. Some of it is REALLY out of line. Some kids have been suspended for commenting on posts, but the accounts themselves are private and no one will say who runs it. For the SH page it used to be one of their high profile football players but since he graduated I'm not sure who runs it now.
  12. Going to go with Boone. They left 21 points off the board b/c of penalties but most of that offense line is first year varsity starters. Coaches should get them straightened out this week and put a stop to the holding penalties. They didn't need those holds to score, but the penalties put them a hole. One TD they ended up scoring a field goal. Another field goal attempted was uncharacteristically missed by the kicker. And the other one called back was poor clock management by coaches as time ran out before the half. So yes, they only walked away with 3 points from those 3 would-be TDs but the offense looked good getting there the 1st time around. And Boone's defense- wow. Just smothering. I don't think the young West Ridge offense will know how to handle that. Bryant had a great game against Vol.- but I don't think you can compare Boone's defense with Volunteers. West Ridge won't be scoring nearly as much this Friday.
  13. Talking SG? Their QB Luke is gone. Daniel Boone still has Luke Jenkins at QB-
  14. West Ridge- if the scrimmage against Boone was any indication of Volunteer's offense. They couldn't move the ball at all. Only first down was an interception that was called back due to pass interference. Also West Ridge looked really good against Elizabethton in their scrimmage.
  15. I was told WR actually looked pretty good against Betsy. But I've also heard Eliz has switched QBs since then. WR's sophomore QB beat out the Jr who lead the JV team to an undefeated season last year so he must have showed something... I still think they'll be more of a run team than passing team.
  16. Is it that much? Wow. Someone sent me that screenshot.
  17. PrepRedZone is a basically a scouting website that ranks players. So I'd say their polls are based on the talent on each team from year to year. Whether that talent translates to wins I guess remains to be seen.
  18. Whats's everyone think of this preseason poll from PrepRedZone.com. Class 5A Top 20 Power Poll 1. Powell 2. Nolensville 3. Green Hill 4. Mt. Juliet 5. Oak Ridge 6. Page 7. Henry Co. 8. Knox. West 9. Munford 10. Knox. Central 11. Springfield 12. Daniel Boone 13. White Co. 14. Karns 15. Sevier Co. 16. Dyer Co. 17. Knox. Halls 18. Franklin Co. 19. Clinton 20. 19. How did West Ridge look against Elizabethton in their scrimmage?
  20. hmmm. I hear they have some new coaches for offense so maybe they'll try some new things things this year. Will just wait and see.
