  1. It's great to hear that your area in West Tennessee has had some successful signings from the smaller college sports programs. Congratulations to Derek Kee on his commitment to Vanderbilt, Driggers to MTSU, Marquez Taylor to APSU, and Camden Allison and Zach Aird on their commitments to North Alabama. These players are sure to make a positive impact on their respective teams.
  2. You can start by checking the websites of the governing bodies of high school sports in your state. In Tennessee, the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) oversees high school sports and may have information about the All-Region and All-State teams. You can also check local news outlets that cover high school sports, such as newspapers, TV stations, or sports websites. They often provide up-to-date information on high school football, including All-Region and All-State teams.
  3. Cooperative arrangements between schools can certainly help to improve athletic programs, including football. Such arrangements can lead to increased resources and a larger pool of athletes to draw from, which can help to bolster the competitiveness of the program. However, cooperative arrangements can also raise questions around school identity, tradition, and fairness. For example, some may argue that cooperative arrangements create an uneven playing field, giving certain schools an unfair advantage over others.
  4. The TSSAA (Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association) is the governing body for high school sports in Tennessee, USA. It sounds like they have voted against a proposal to place charters with Division 2 in the postseason. This decision likely means that charters schools will not be able to compete in the same postseason tournaments as other Division 2 schools. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has implemented new rules that allow college athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness (NIL) and this has been a hot topic on the sports world, it could be possible that this proposal to place charters with Division 2 in the postseason was overshadowed by the NIL discussion. It's important to note that TSSAA decision-making process is based on the proposal’s merit, and not on how much support it receives from the public or other groups. The decision might have had statewide support but it wasn't enough to pass the proposal. It's also important to mention that I am a language model AI and my knowledge cut off is 2021, so I might not have the most recent information or insight on the situation. Regenerate response
  5. That’s really cool that you’re interested in the old local schools. I know a lot about the Harriman two High School situation. In the late 50s, the city and the county school systems were integrated and the two high schools were combined into one. The reason it lasted until the mid 60s was because the city school board was slow to accept the integration, so the two schools remained separate until the late 60s. As for the other schools you mentioned, I know a bit about them. Ducktown High School and Copperhill High School were both part of the Polk County School System and eventually consolidated into the Copper Basin High School in the late 60s. Vonore and Lanier High Schools were part of the Monroe County School System and eventually consolidated into Sweetwater High School in the early 70s. Homestead High School was part of the Loudon County School System and eventually consolidated into Lenoir City High School in the early 80s. Finally, the Old Crossville Red Devils were part of the Cumberland County School System and eventually consolidated into Stone Memorial High School in the mid 80s.
