  1. Seems to me, and trust me I am a Dragon fan through and through, that there have been only a few Dragon fans keeping this thread going. I am as excited as anyone I just don't think the coaches will be here long term. Look at how many schools they have been at in the past few years. I also just want you to be realistic. Clinton doesn't have alot of depth, an injury, especially at QB could do them in. Let us Clinton fans be happy with improvement and don't make the Oak Ridge game a "must win". That's all I am saying.
  2. It is nice to hope and dream that your team will be much improved, but, come on, if Clinton wins it will be an upset. No one really expects Clinton to be that good. They have three games to look at that they have to win, Lenoir City, Campbell County, and South Doyle. They have to do it consistently before they can compete with Oak Ridge, Maryville, Central, Powell, Halls, AC, and Knox West. I am a Dragon fan, more than you know, but you are saying this is a make or break game. Clinton just needs to stay in the game and avoid the embarrassment of 74-0, 60-8 and that will give the kids a boost of coonfidence. Clinton needs to be at least 2-2 after four games. Then we will see if they can sneak up on Halls, West, or Powell and earn a playoff spot. I also hate to see Clinton fans putting so much stock in the coaching staff. I do not think many of them will be around for long. Just look at their track records. Shattuck had to scramble for coaches this year and may have to do the same in the not so distant future. There is some talent at Clinton but e are still a few inches too short, a few pounds too small, and a step to slow to get to where we need to be. I know you are tired of hearing it but you have to be patient. This should be a better year, but don't get to the point where one game means so much. I mean, to Oak Ridge, this isn't even a rivalry anymore. Do I hope the Dragons win? Of course but I will be pleased if they show improvement. In my opinion, so should the school and the community!!
  3. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything on the Oliver Springs Head Coaching search? I have heard lots of rumors around Anderson County/Clinton that there may be more coaches in the mix than first thought. Anyone have any inside information?
  4. If Trooper goes to coach WR's then who would coach RB's. Is there any truth to the rumor that George Quarles of Maryville High School might be considered to coach receivers?
  5. Clinton High School, yes, Clinton High School. No one can say that they have more talent or speed coming than the dragons. The 8th grade class that is coming is LOADED. They absoloutely dominated middle school football this year beating their combined opponents by a score of 374-26. If the players stay in town they will be special. The problem is we have some of them escaping to Anderson County and Oak Ridge. Many people have stated that they have never seen a middle school team that quick. People say they are better than the group that came through Clinton in the early 90's and if you are a student of high school football then you remember Clinton being dominant during the early-mid 90's.
  6. CAK beat Oneida in the A division by three points in overtime on a 36 yard field goal. That is awesome for middle school. Oneida had beaten CAK in the regular season. The same story for the AA championship, a rematch. Clinton won 28-0 in the regular season but was able to keep Jacksboro from moving the football at all. Championship final score was 34-0. Clinton just had too many weapons. I think the final tally for points on the season was 374-26. Congratulations to all four teams on wonderful seasons. I hope these Hawks can carry over the success to the land of the Dragons!!
  7. Jacksboro is on a roll and they did, in fact win. Not sure of the score but I know it was impressive. Clinton won over SMMS 40-6 last night. Should be a good match up in the finals. They have already played, but I expect to see a completely different Jacksboro team this time. They are confident and rolling right along. Anyone know their record? Should be a good game, any thoughts?
  8. Who will be playing each other in the semi-final rounds of the "A" and "AA" TMSAA playoffs. I know the large school winners: it will be Robertsville @ Jacksboro and SMMS @ Clinton. Anyone know the small schools and want to venture out with some predictions?
  9. yeah, it is official. I'm not sure of the whole story, but I know the game is off and Clinton advances to the second round.
  10. Avery Trace is replaced by Cherokee because Avery Trace was ineligible for postseason play this season. Also, Clinton Middle will not have a game this week as the game with North Anderson has been forfeited. Clinton will advance to the next round to play the winner of SMMS/Jefferson. The championship games will be held at the same locations. Small school at Clinton on Nov. 1 and large school at Oliver Srings on Nov. 3.
  11. In the west it is going to be Clinton, Robertsville, Jefferson, and Avery Trace
  12. Clinton is undefeated and has only been scored on one time all year. They play North Anderson in the season finale.
  13. Clinton Middle School Hawks are undefeated through 7 games this season. They have won by a combined total of 263-6. They are coming off back to back victories over the two Oak Ridge Schools and head straight into Anderson County. These kids should have the confidence and talent to turn the high school program around. Right now, they are completely dominating with 6 shutouts. Look for an exciting game this week!!
  14. I would pick Robertsville. I have seen them both and Robertsville has more playmakers, more speed, and a good quarterback. They block really well and have played against stiffer competition. They played Maryville and Clinton and from what I hear will have to take on a tough Seymour team next week. They need this win and should get it. I'd pick Robertsville by 14.
  15. Clinton should be strong in the coming years. They have to keep their athletes on the football field. The most talented class is the Sophomore class with two strong QB's, an unreal FB/TB combo, some good WR's and a HUGE offensive line. They have two Sophs that are 6' 6" and 275-280. They have some other kids in that class in the 220-240 range that can move. One LB is already starting varsity and the others could. . . coach Shattuck just does not want them to get beat on and frustrated like has happened in the past. They will compete for the playoffs next year. And with the 10, 9, and 8 grade classes they will be very, very strong in two years, just wait!!
  16. With Huddleston, Abdulraman, Phillips, Davis catching passes, Clinton has the weapons this year. The key is they are banged up and they are playing behind an inexperienced offensive line with an inexperienced quarterback in York. York can make plays, but he plays in spurts. He will make a great play then a bonehead play. Clinton is constantly improving and, if we don't have a tackling debacle like against OR, AC fans will see that this week. They finally ran the ball with Spears but he lacks the capability of making big plays. Oh yeah, to respond to an earlier question . . . I do not think the basketball coach discourages them from playing football, but I do not think he encourages them to either. You look at schools with successful programs and they support each other. If you look at the basketball team right now you could have Dye, Dixon, Whitt, Garner, Gardner, etc. all on the football field making plays. That would make a HUGE difference in Clinton's athleticism and overall team speed.
  17. Clinton is still very young. The skill players of the group that has been so talented in middle school will not play football in Clinton. All of the athletes are playing basketball only. The kids don't understand that the winning will not begin until the players start playing and being committed to the program. The deepest class is the Sophomore class, so be patient and supportive of the coaching staff and players. It will be another year or so. They are close to turning the corner. My only hope is that this forum is not used to bash high school kids, they have worked hard to improve and win or lose, Clinton is much improved.
  18. Oak Ridge 1996. Hands down winner of this award. They had starters at all skill positions that were unbelievable. One WR went to Florida, one went to Alabama, and TB Shaun Bohanon rushed for 2,400 plus and went to Alabama as well. They were loaded. Apparently a late night party before the Jefferson County game cost them their shot at a state title. It is truly a shame. I know all of those guys personally, having played at a rival school. They definitely deserved their shot to win a championship. Sometimes things just don't work out like they should.
  19. Clinton is improving, I can say that from the off season strength and conditioning program, but they still have a long way to go to compete with the big boys in the region. They have outstanding juniors, sophomores, and freshman this year. Give them a few years and watch them become contenders once again. They scrimmage Cumberland County away on May 6th. Hopefully that will allow them to end spring practice on a good note. They open with Oak Ridge and Maryville, I just hope they can keep a winning attitude through those two games! thumb
