  1. It was going to be tough anyway. I really thought Styles would get a shot at QB. Over the years the Bobcats have gained on transfers over losing them. Just the nature of the beast it all goes in cycles.
  2. Maybe close to the burn and the big H. Can't see them going on the other side. No room. Also to many fence huggers over there some of the acoustics may be lost to the trees.
  3. Bad joke. All players that have suited up for Halls gains my respect. They may not be the most talented compared to other teams players but ragging on Kitts and Dayton shows little respect. Halls finished second last year and they contributed greatly for a program that hadn't reached a playoff win in ten years. OK rant over. This years version has some great potential to acheive greatness. Stronger depth for the D and Turner, Waggoner & Johnson to have a great senior seasons. Homefield advantage can be a big deal playing right out of the gate.
  4. The main concern it has to be better this year.
  5. The main question is : Is Halls better than last year??? They lost some great athletes and a very good offensive line. Preseason hype may be a little oversold. Overall, though I think Maryville lost more position players and after a 38-30 loss at their place. I think we turn the tables on them this year at home. Also, I think week 0 helps us more than it does the Rebs.
  6. Agree with you 100% I'm sure West will be a factor but experience is huge in High school Football. Senior teams generally do the best not always but most often they do. How many seniors did both Maryville & Bearden lose that had a great impact on their performance last year? This has to be a big reason why Halls will be hard to ignore.
  7. Heard Jan Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink is also on the roster. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  8. Thats right. Coach Ward stepped down and Coach Williams is running the offense. What everyone thoughts on the change. Will we stay about the same or will Coach Williams open it up a little?
  9. Sounds like Halls did about the same last year and were fortunate to escape with the W. Yep the years of the Bruhins,Galyon's & McGahas have come and gone but maybe Kier Houston may not need the big boys for protection we will have to wait and see. I know what your saying about Clinton its hard to believe untill they actually prove themselves but Halls doesn't have a free ticket either. I was a little disappointed in the Red & White game. A lots of questions remain for the Red Devils on offense. Defense is way ahead right now and that is good to build a solid team for next year. The good thing is it's still very early. Summer of bulking up and working out and the missing Baseball boyz will be back to reinforce the team.
  10. Didn't Clinton beat Powell at Powell last year. They didn't lose very much compared to the Panthers. Just losing Jordan Allen will be a huge blow. Heard from a Powell fan that Powells OL & DL lines look undersized this year. I think Houston is a talent and will run and throw the ball to experienced receivers but stopping the other teams may be the big problem this year. I have Powell & Central dukeing it out for the fourth spot. I see it............ Maryville Halls Clinton Powell/Central South Doyle/West Lenoir City
  11. Toss up between Stone & Houston at QB. I go with Stone because Clinton could be the darkhorse this year and surprise many. Running Back if Wilson doesn't get hurt its his to lose. I think he bounces back in a big way. If he doesn't Central could be in for a very long year.
  12. I have to admit Science Hill just took us to the woodshed. You can't water down a 11-1 mauling in 5 innings. That pitcher only allowed two hits one to Bowman and a RBI single to Dayton. The only other base runner was Tyler Brock leading off the game with a walk. Our defense didn't look like it's usual self and the Hilltopers took care of the pitching with bats a blazing. With that being said Halls had a great year. It's the best we have done in three years coming one step away from the big dance. Congrats to the Seniors we will miss you good luck in the future. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Halls have been playing some great team baseball as of late against as Coach P. says "no more weak sisters". How does Science Hill matchup to the likes of Farragut & Bearden? Does Halls have a good chance against the best from upper East Tennessee? Should be a good one.
  14. 7-5 again this time Farragut wins it in the sixth. Jordan Cooper outstanding pitching for the Admirals allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk. Not sure how many K's but he had a bunch. Curt Powell hits a shot off the wall to break the deadlock at 5-5 with a triple and 2 rbi's. David White pitched great. Offense struck early with a four spot in the second but couldn't hold the lead. At one point Halls up 5-2 but Farragut chipped away and went ahead for good in the sixth.
  15. The just there rest of them may be having a big grin on their faces after that last comment. Halls no doubt is the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball at the moment. I hope it stays that way. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  16. Thanks. I know both sets of players and fans are looking forward to this matchup.
  17. Sorry. John Clarke.
  18. Farragut will be a tough game. Perhaps the strongest team this year in the Knoxville area but not invincible. It will utimately come down to how Coach P. looks at this game and his thoughts toward Friday night. You have to think Farragut will be overwhelming favorites going into this contest. Overall, this will match the best in the area going head to head so the turnout will be heavy. Anyone know the actual start time? If it rains will it be played on Thursday night?
  19. You can throw most records out of the door when a elimation games come calling. Not much that I could see between either team last night. It just comes down to who makes the plays and gets the key hits. It was Halls last night that did the majority of that and so they move on. Bearden didn't look bad like some people suggested I think Clark was on his game and pitched out of some tough jams. I actually think Halls district was a tougher overall district this year. Karns, Oak Ridge & West were excellent teams to go along with the Red Devils & Panthers and most games played were close affairs. I think the media may have something to do with most of the hype of who is better than who because they can only go on the records of each school. High School baseball isn't followed as closely as Football in East Tennessee and they mainly rely on stats which as everyone know doesn't always give the true story. But I will agree Farragut and Bearden were a class above every one else in their District. William Blount had a great team last year and didn't seem as strong this year. In defense of Halls record Coach P had injury issues this year and did a great job blending in some talented sophomores for next year. So Halls wasn't all about having a great record in non-District games but to develop talent which paid off in depth for the District Tournament and last night. Halls has to be taken seriously you just don't win six district championships in a row and not be decent. Everyone that I talked to thought Halls would win last night at home. So most of the locals were confident.
  20. Yes Halls wins 7-5 tonight at Halls. A great game it went back and forth most of the night. To bad somebody had to lose tonight. Coach P had these kidz ready and Halls responded with 11 hits and 6 solid innings pitched by Clark. To many heros tonight for Halls a total team effort. Don't overlook the boys in red. Halls back in the sub-state for the first time in three years.
  21. I know the Halls game will start somewere around 6 o'clock this monday night maybe even 6.30 to allow everyone time to get off work.
  22. Another successful year for the Red Devils and now six in a row District Champions. Halls completed another district tournament without a blemish beating arch rival Powell 6-2 last night. Now both Halls & Powell move on to face big tasks. Halls host Bearden and Powell visits Farragut. North Knox vs West Knox should be two great games good luck to both schools.
  23. No its West at Halls for all the marbles Friday night. Halls left the back door wide open last night losing 2-1. Clarke vs Ryan for 1st place.
  24. Halls may have the best chance coming right out of the gate. They seem to be excited about the new season and the promise it brings. Halls had a supercharged offense last year they could overtake the Rebs this year.
