  1. You guys saw an average 5A team dominate a less than average 4A squad. The Toppers looked good and I am proud of them, but we obviously have quite a bit of work to do before declaring them contenders. We are still a 3-4 seed in our region. Take your blinders off and be real. With this team we should make the playoffs but don't look to far ahead. We won't go deep. You still have to love the action last night. We ran the ball well but will have to get the ball to the WRs more often to increase success. Next week's opponent will offer quite a bit more resistance. Prepare!!!! GO TOPPERS!!
  2. Win/Win for the Cow Towners. No way they can lose in this game even with a L. At the same time, DB gets to open up with one of the better 4A teams in the East. DB 31-21
  3. Trying to go with 2 QBs is a fatal mistake. We have good backs and good recievers. I'd have to go with the arm in AJ. We have to be able to get the ball to our WRs who are playmakers and the RBs can handle the ball out of the backfield. It is that simple There is a lot of potential in the offense if handled correctly.
  4. No doubt that this team will go as Smith goes. Good arm and loves to run the ball with good speed. As I read on another thread, he probably will be in trouble vs. DB due to lack of preparation which has been a trademark of the post Rider Cow Towners. I'm sure they will improve with time on the playing field. See you guys on the 25th.
  5. I agree that the defense should hold it's own but at the same time you have to put points on the board. We have some playmakers but have to get the ball to them. We are going to miss Shoun in a big way. 1 DB 2 SC 3 SH 4 JC I agree that the defense should hold it's own but at the same time you have to put points on the board. We have some playmakers but have to get the ball to them. We are going to miss Shoun in a big way. 1 DB 2 SC 3 SH 4 JC GO TOPPERS!!!
  6. I don't believe we have the bullets to be the #2 seed in our region. I hope so, but look to be a #3 team going into the playoffs. GO TOPPERS!!
  7. Havn't seen any but I am hearing that a couple, in particular, are doing pretty darn good. I think things are tightening up heading into your jamboree and a comeback is on the horizon.
  8. I think CowTown's Pless has had his hands full trying to answer that question last year and maybe even the year before. One would think a year older, a year wiser?
  9. As expected. Is Burton going to be the man or will Ring unseat him? GO TOPPERS!!!
  10. Va. High will be much improved this year after an underachieving year in '05. The Vikings lost alot of firepower but still should hold on to win this game of cross town rivals. It will be a tough win as Va High brings back most of it's guns. Tn High 21-14
  11. This is a dream game for the Cow Towners. Hard to lose with a W or an L. If they play descently they are winners. If they allow themselves to get blown out of the water they are BIG LOSERS. If they somehow pull of a gargantuan upset, they open the state's eyes. Even a close game will be an eye opener. If the Cow Boys form Betsy open up thier offense and have somewhat success, they will roll this season. If they keep the offensive doors closed it will be a long season for them. Interesting match up of two extemely talented senior classes. I agree on one thing for sure - DEPTH is in DB's corner in a big way.
  12. Things are quiet in the football corner on the Hill. I understand that there is some pressure being exerted concerning this year's football campaign? With total success being the goal, the coaching staff is at a turning point with their careers at the Hill if there isn't a turnaround? Is this true? Is this the way to start a season or do you let the cards fall and then make some moves if needed? Get it done or else I hear! Anyone else have an opionion?
  13. A much better game to watch than last year's contest, but DB takes the W.
  14. Who are the offensive play makers and who will lead the way for them? On the defensive side of the ball, who stops the opposing teams threats? TOPPER FOOTBALL
  15. I've got to tell you, I probably have more faith in the Cow Towners than they have in themselves. We came very close to stealing a valuable assest from you people, but the Toppers will move on. GLee, you are right on in terms of who wants what. This year's group of Cyclones are led by Smith and are full of Seniors and Juniors that can play the game. Anyone who has followed them know this is a fact. Now whether they can overcome the lack of, what you called "leadership", is yet to be seen. There has to be changes, for the most part, on the offense side of the ball. If you saw these kids play as Freshmen and in thier JV year, they ran wide open with another coach calling the show. Last season was a debacle and you should have beaten us at Spurrier. Smith moved the ball efficiently but was jerked around and someone else blew it for you C-Towners. Yes, you lost some close ones, but a loss is a loss by any score. These guys know how to win, just hope it doesn't happen in Week 1 at your place and your opener is the toughest of all shows in this area. Good luck to you people and I'll see you a few times this season.
  16. Try these guys. They don't care where you live. WWW.RIVERDOGSBB.COM Might be full??
  17. NE TN was 'shut out' as usual. DB, SH, South, TN High all have some quality players. One of my favorites is the little guy from Elizabethton, Preston Smith. He is a human high light film every game on both sides of the ball. Your loss, but Smith isn't the only player from up here in the sticks not to be mentioned, eventhough he is highly touted on your site. He has letters from several D1s, but talking to his father, he is really looking at baseball or a smaller school for football. He just a wants to be on the field. He's getting the looks he deserves from both sides and barring injury, he will be a prize for someone.
  18. I think you are missing out on the something BIG. From a very close source the word is you are talking about is an extemely high profile player from Cow Town that is seeking another residence in JC to set up a transfer with senior eligiblilty. This two sport star will be the missing link for the Topper faithful and we welcome this quality young man. Now you can say BIG. GO TOPPERS!!
  19. I respect the Cow-Towners, but it is a little soap opera over there. From a high profile parent I was told that they have lost thier top RB, center, a quality lineman, OL & DL, and possibly another backfield player of note. Something just isn't right. Another problem is the success of the baseball program and the discipline that the new coach has implemented. The players have responded positively. Just look at the paper and thier record. This parent told me that they love Coach Payne and what he is doing for them. I don't know him but from what I have been told over here he is very respected by opposing coaches and game officials. Seems as if the football coaches are taking offense to this and are sparking on the new baseball man. What a joke. If the administration could get their act together maybe they could make the adjustments that are necessary to bring their football program back on track. I don't look for any changes, just the slow decline of a once proud program. What a shame and waste of talent.
  20. What's going on over there? With AD Alderson gone there are question marks everywhere. The newspapers are going nuts with this one. What's the low down?
  21. GLee, Cow-Town may surprise some (but not me), but they have had talent for the last several years. They will compete competantly in the local AA class. Good luck to you guys.
  22. Coach McKinney takes over a team with a wealth of talent. Will he jump younger players ahead of already established players? Will he be overshadowed by his assistant? Lots of questions to be answered going into, what should be, an awesome Topper 2006.
  23. Word coming from the 'Hill' is that Cow Town will have a new football coach for next year. Must be something there as many are talking the talk of a change. Anyone else hear anything?
  24. With close ties to a couple of the Elizabethton parents which also puts me close to a few of the kids, I have a great concern over the leadership of this once proud football program. Players staying in trouble on and off of the field and a coaching staff that is in disarray. Legal problems for coaches and coaches with no experience but seem to have been placed there through the buddy system. This show is going to fall apart and has already begun to crumble. I know that some of the parents have addressed the situation on CoachT, with coaches and with the upper management of the school system. Change is a must before a great heritage of football is destroyed. What do you think? Looking for comments from anyone. Players, coaches, parents and fans are welcome to chime in on this one. I trully am saddened by what's is being allowed to happen to a fine program. I even started to bring my kid over there this year, but he is baseball only. With Payne, we should have made the move, but with a summer of politics, we didn't know who would have the job. We are now Toppers and will stay that way. Just concerned for friends and their families and someone needed to start this thread. Good luck!
