  1. Last years scrimmage was more of a defensive struggle and was fairly even. But you are right. It was a scrimmage and you have to keep it in perspective on both sides.
  2. Oh my gosh!!! You have dared to suggest that Alcoa may be the best team in the state. You have opened Pandoras box. Take cover , for the Red Rebels cometh.
  3. Cole Lail is indeed the son of Barry Lail , not Holden Lail
  4. He may play DB but at 6'1" and 190 with 4.5 speed he is a prototypical John Chavis future outside linebacker.
  5. I agree and I also think they will have trouble with an improved Rockwood team.
  6. Dennis Rogan of Knox Fulton Chris Shiverdecker of Alcoa Harrison Smith of Knox Catholic All three should be on the list
  7. I was very impressed with the A-E quarterback. He was elusive and had a very strong , accurate arm. Both teams will be outstanding in the fall.
  8. Congrats to Seymour & Gibbs for advancing to the regionals. I think both teams can win out and make it to state. It was a competitive year in region 2 and I enjoyed the games even though my Tornadoes did not advance. Good luck to the Eagles.
  9. Maybe because of soccer but not baseball. There are only 3 football players on the baseball team.
  10. One of the classiest posters on Coach T. We need to lift this family up in prayer. I am sure their hearts must be broken.
  11. This should really help the Maryville baseball program. Where will this facility be located ?
  12. I was really impressed with the numbers Smith put up @ the Nike camp. That was an electronically timed 4.38. Jason Allen ran a 4.39 @ the NFL combine. I think Mr. Smith might want to go get a bigger mail box.
  13. I believe the top 4 teams in the region will be Alcoa , Loudon , Rockwood & CAK. They may not finish in that order, but those will be my playoff qualifiers. Sweetwater may break into the group if they can find their "Mojo "
  14. The word right now is the current staff will remain intact. There is one position to fill.
  15. You and I think alike on this subject rebelsman.
  16. That is possible. There was an opening on the staff that was not filled last year when Coach Porter took the interim Principal position. I believe the interim has been removed from the title so he will not be returning to coaching.
  17. I will try to answer some of the previous questions. Gary Rankin has been hired as Assistant Principal. His advanced degrees allow him the highest of Alcoa teaching salary(one of the tops in Tennessee). That plus the Asst Princ. stipend , plus coaching stipend added up to a healthy raise. He has no plans , at this time , of bringing in coaches. He told us yesterday (parents) that he expects all previous assistants to return. Sidenote : there will be two teaching positions open at Alcoa next school year. As for next season , Alcoa signed a two year deal to play in the Integra Bowl @ Trigg County / KY. I asked Coach Rankin about this game and he said he did not know if we could get out of the deal. That may be up to the A.D. The 2nd game will be Maryville.
  18. Rankin will indeed , be the assistant principal @ AHS. He has no plans at this time of bringing in any coaches. As of now the previous staff is intact , minus Reid of course. There will be a couple of teaching positions open next school year , one of which will be the P.E. / weight training position that John Reid held. Alcoa has two staff members who teach in other school systems but it is not known if they will be offered teaching positions at Alcoa.
  19. Two great games in two days. Enjoyed them both. 4 outstanding pitching performances. Looks like this is going to be a competitive district race.
  20. That is a big win for Heritage. Clinton Helton is really pitching well this year and he is a really great kid. Does anyone know who pitched for Farragut ?
  21. There is a possibility of one and maybe two coaching staff positions that will be open. The problem is that there are no faculty positions for those openings at this time.
  22. Chris Donald -Huntingdon Chris Shiverdecker - Alcoa Josh Hawkins - Loudon and here is my darkhorse name to remember ..... Troy Hodge - Alcoa
  23. It is a little early in the year to pick a legitamate top ten but it is just for fun. Take WB out and put Powell in and you got a group to work with.
  24. I have talked to both the Alcoa A.D. and the director of schools and all they will say is that they are accepting and receiving lots of applications. Interviews start in April. On a related note , I have it from a reliable source that Alcoa co-defensive coordinator Richard Gamble and his wife to be are house hunting in Georgia. Could he be joining Reid @ East Paulding ?
