  1. out of those district titles, how many region titles is there?...i doubt very many, if any
  2. I agree bigchief...I dont see hickman scoring either, but if she can keep it 1-0, you never know what can happen...Hickman's pitcher is very good, she just doesnt get much support from the bats or the field.
  3. hello, read again yourself...I wasnt talking to you
  4. Yes, you are correct....I guess fielding bunts is centennial's achille's heal...they botched several of them when they played Brentwood earlier in the tourney....are you already conceding defeat to to Brentwood since you said Hickman would be playing Hunters Lane?
  5. Deadeye, you are deadeye on that one...respect is earned, not given to you. I know what you mean about its hard to get teams to come play CCHS at their field, but it has nothing to do with the distance, or how strong they are. The problem comes from the limited number of games allowed by the TSSAA. After the normal district games are scheduled, it doesnt allow much room for other teams. Thats why the better teams play in tourneys every weekend...they are allowed more games when they do this than by scheduling individual non-district games.
  6. seems like dickson is always involved in games like that....last year, with a little more on the line than this game, they played 11 innings in a 1-0 win over Brentwood in the Sectionals. Hope Elrod's arm doesnt fall off...she will need it when she plays Beech or probably wilson Central
  7. You dont want umpires from chattanooga....they are the worst around. strike zone is from the dirt to shoulders...sometimes...othertimes, its from knees to belt
  8. I hope you are right...because i'm from middle tennessee, and any team that beats the chattanooga teams in the regionals is alright in my book....but i'm not counting on it...your only chance is to not have to play soddy...you wont beat them...and that is the bottom line!
  9. Bigchief...thats true...thats why I gave the edge to Centennial with their defense...although centennial may not get many hits, they will hit the ball, and hickman will make enough errors to give them some runs. Centennial is also the only team in the district to score off Brentwood's 1st 3 pitchers, so they have the ability to hit. Hickman hasnt come close to scoring on Brentwood. And yes, both teams coming out of distrist 11 should make it to the substate, so its a big game for both.
  10. Thats a good assessment Indian...never said cumberland county or bradley were bad teams...they just cant beat the top chattanooga teams
  11. some things never change...and when its all said and done, no one from your district will advance to the sectionals, except maybe Cumberland county..and thats only because Ooltewah cant quit fighting amongs themselves. You still never answered my question...who is it that they have played that they have beaten?
  12. just when people thought Beech would be down some this year, it looks like some things never change...Beech with another shutout and birth in the regionals.
  13. I've been watching softball for over 20 years..and that district has never been up to par with the strong nashville or chattanooga teams...Cumberland county can compete with the good teams, but they cant beat them...and neither can bradley central....when they do, then I will give you some respect....who have they beaten outside their district that is any good?...and dont start naming teams from knoxville because they cant hold a candle to middle and southeast teams
  14. Hickman has a hard time scoring against quality pitching, and their defense isnt as good as Centennial, so my guess is 3-0 Centennial
  15. There will be some very good teams that get beat in the sectionals that could win the state too, but unfortunately the way the brackets are drawn, they wont get the chance to do it. With only 2 teams coming out of the middle tennessee area and 2 out of the chattanooga area, several good teams will be left out.
  16. Cumberland county has a good softball team this year, but unfortunately, they dont play in a very good district. Its known more for its basketball and football. Although they have played some very good teams close, until they beat those teams, it will be hard to get the recognition you deserve. Beat some of those teams in chattanooga in the regionals and you will get plenty of recognition.
  17. I dont think its so plain and simple..exactly who is it that soddy cant play against from nashville?
  18. soddy has as good a chance as anyone, but there are about 4-5 other teams that could win it. Depends on who gets hot at the right time.
  19. Probably to keep those that are playing 2 sports at the same time from getting a competitive edge on others, and also, to keep skilled athletes from taking away spots on rosters that are normally reserved for rec league players
  20. Hooray for Lipscomb....I bet it was a long ride back to Tuscaloosa for the Tide.
  21. softball has never been a top priority for kids in the memphis area...maybe with Univ. of Memphis starting softball it will help build up some interest....I think soccer is emphasized more in Memphis, because thats what the 2 biggest schools play really good...that and basketball.
  22. thats a tough lesson to learn, but yes, those girls that participated in rec leagues are ineligible...it happens sometimes in basketball where a player plays in a church league game.
  23. I agree Katfo....I was at the Brentwood tourney earlier in the year, and they had their prom that night...the jr's and seniors played saturday morning, but the coach let them off in the afternoon, and they played with only freshmen and sophomores...they still beat a very powerful Hoover team from alabama, but lost to wilson central...but the coach found out which young ones could play, i'm sure.
  24. picker...you havent come up with a reason either why the game wont be made up...unless it is because of the prom tomorrow nite....and if that is the reason, you have nothing to blame Soddy's fans about because thats as lame as it gets. When the district tourney starts, make sure they have their dresses off, because they are having a hard enough time scoring as it is.
  25. thats the sorriest excuse that Ooltewah has come up with yet....it used to be the players, then the coaches, then the parents....and now the PROM?......you got to be kidding?
