  1. Both Rashad Gray and Jalen Miller are playing basketball this year.
  2. I agree Stars, hopefully he'll be ready. He sprained an ankle Friday and was in a walking boot this weekend.
  3. I'm worried about this game. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in SH giving up a lot of points on defense. OR offense is very basic and has shown that it can be slowed down. Everybody talked about all the points that Maryville had allowed when we played them. Their first team basically shut us down. Against CC you take the kickoff return and interception returned for a touchdown away and the offense only put up 19 points, with one coming late in the game. I also hate the bend but don't break mentality. That works for when you are playing teams that don't have a lot of athletes, but teams that have kids that can make a defender miss, lends to big plays that eventually puts points on the board. The sad thing is if the Cats can pull out a win the consolation prize is Maryville.
  4. With the utmost respect from coaching to on field play with Maryville, I'm with LOD on this one. But it serves no use, I'm sure if it did happened and Maryville won, they neh sayers would claim the out of state team was in a down year.
  5. Most of the seeding that has been done, doesn't take into account the district champs. Unless OR stumbles they won't be a 7 seed when the brackets come out. Also they will get a home game, so I don't think it will be Maryville, because they have pretty much wrapped up their district. DB may be a possibility because their district will come down to the end of the year match with Science Hill.
  6. If anything the parents and fans should be mad at the coach for putting a 130lb freshman in the game. Better yet, get mad at the tackle who who missed his block. If you watch the tape he made a half-hearted attempt to cut #57. I bet you all wouldn't be mad if he would have taken out #57 knee. Quit your whinning. You all are acting like #57 was thinking at the snap of the ball I'm going to have the tackle miss a block, guard is going to pull, I'm going to slant backside, grab the running back, pick him up and slam him to the ground so I can be ridiculed by a bunch of adults. As someone has already stated, move on.
  7. Hats off to AC they came to play. Definately better then their record. If there was a player of the game you had to give it to number #44 for AC. That kid played is but off. The QB did well also. If I was AC I would have let #44 have the first two touches in overtime. Cats better wake up. They scored when the had to be overall they were outplayed again this week.
  8. There is no magic number to when a kid should start playing football, it all depends on the kids mentality and athletic ability. Yes starting them early helps, but there are plenty of kids who started late and went on to be succesfull and contributed to team success. One thing that helps kids when they start early is that they build a reputation as being good and it makes it hard for new kids to break in. That's where a good coach comes into place. He identifies each kids talents and but them in place to be successful and come help the team no matter how long they have been playing.
  9. I'm sure cheating goes on, but the check in process is pretty extensive. The big problem with the older groups is I'm sure the are bringing all star teams. Heck if you chose the best from all of Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, etc. you probably will have a pretty good team. I remember a few years ago, the organizer of the tournement whose over Fultons youth program entered his team into the B division while entering all the other local teams in the A divsion. Go figure. For me I like watching the 6U-11U. I think thats the purest form of the game, before all the win at all cost egos come into affect.
  10. He was. He's pretty good. There decent team, but I don't think you'll have a problem with them. I saw them play Robertsville Middle. Robertsville won 20-0 I believe. He didn't play in that one he was hurt. Don't know how much of a difference it would have made.
  11. Sign him up if that's what he wants to do. But if not, football is not the sport to make a kid play. Heck I don't like soccer that much either, but I would recommend him playing soccer, basketball, or T-ball first, just to get him acclimated to the team sport idea. I know that I'll get varying opinions on this, but if he starts and doesn't like it, I would'nt make him stay with it. You'll hear people say that if they start their going to finish. They want to make them stand by the decisions they make. Come on, I can promise you that any decision a 5 year old makes is not going to be the determing factor on how his life will end up. Save that lesson for when he gets older.
  12. Do any of the teams participate in the Battle of Rocky Top. If you enjoy football and have never been, I recommend you go. I especially like watching area teams play all these supposed power houses from out of state. From the games I've seen the last few years our kids can more than hold their own.
  13. Dunbar, Warrington and Wheeler from what I've been told all have bad anckle sprains. Must be somethng in the water or we need to get better ankle tape.
  14. From what I've heard, it's is a bad sprained ankle. He went to the hospital that night nothing was broke. He's been walking on it, but has a severe limp. If anything, it will be a game time decision. Probably would be best if he sat this one out.
  15. Greyrider, I can't say that or I'll be accused of being a Blade Hater. But I too would'nt call it classless. Heck, Maryville has been so good, you haven't been in that situation. We've had teams do it to us, Hall did it last week. Not saying that it righ or wrong.
  16. Looked good but how hard is it to just throw short passes to #10 all night, nothing that going to win down the road. I actually thought it was a amatuerish move by Blade. Down 30-0, really. Way to stand by your QB. Don't remember him doing that as we watched the previousl QB have multiple interception games in the past. Game result was simple, out played, out coached, and out executed.
  17. I think that was an attempt at humor, saying Maryville is so good you can compare their players to a college team. Anyway, hope to see a good game and as stated before everybody stays safe and injury free, fans included.
  18. I hope the field is in good condition. Would hate to see a potentially great game be marred by a sloppy field.
  19. I'm not an AC fan, but you all are making too big of a deal about the last few minutes of the game. If AC would have not turned over the ball 5 times, the last few minutes would have not been a factor. Whether they are kids or professionals sometimes you have to put the blame where it belongs and that is on the players.
  20. Please moderator can you have this post locked or deleted, as stated before this in no way reflects any thoughts of the true Oak Ridge fan.
  21. Now LOD you aren't being fair, besides the Wing-T part that statment is true for everybody.
  22. So refreshing, some more of the good ole boy rhetoric. Gone but not left alone. Classless, but hey it's expected from some, just stand on the hill and listen to them.
  23. To make things worse for AE, from what I hear they may be missing some players due to suspensions. The best thing for them this game is to get through it and focus on the rest the season in hopes of making it to the playoffs. There will be no shocker this year.
