If all High School coaches had your resume the kids would be in good hands. The problem with faculty only coach occurs when a coach of a fall sport or a teacher with little to no experience in the sport is the Head Coach. Happens way more than we want to admit.

High School athletes deserve the best coaching available. A overworked or "challenged" faculty member probably would not fit this profile. Over the years I have seen this occur way too often. The players know when they do not have a good coach.

GPS is a deep and talented team. Maybe someone can sneak up on them when the lights are out.

Holly Burris from Houston High went to Ole Miss. Most of the girls that signed with Ole Miss and Mississppi State had other SEC offers, they chose those schools because OM is only an hour away and MS is two 1/2 hours away. Their parents get to see them play since the schools are close. You are right about the exposure part, only the Germantown Red Devils teams travel to exposure tournaments regularly.

Charging a two year old child full price is a joke. Boro and the tssaa should be ashamed of themselves.

Jenny Cox from St. Benedict played at Ole Miss 2001-2005. Ashley Dowdy from St. Benedict has signed with Ole Miss and Chelsey Bramlett from First Assembly has signed with Missisippi St.

Both Brentwood and Riverdale have excellent teams, I would love to be at that game.

Having a team not favored make a run at state is very exciting and most of us would cherish every moment. Our team made a run like this three years ago, the players that were freshman still feel that that week was the most memorable of their high school career. Unfortunately there are players, parents and coaches who only want to be with the best. They are missing out.

A chance to win a state championship is a great motivator to some.

St. Benedict has been on the road five weekends in a row as well as a weekday doubleheader in Dallas. Time to sleep in our own beds for a weekend. Good luck to all.

The tssaa decision that the middle and west get three teams in the state in dII is based on the number of dII teams in each region. The east region has six teams, the middle 13 and the west 16 teams. Also the tssaa allows dII teams to determine a champion, runner-up and third place where applicable by any method the region membership selects. I would think that the tssaa would allow dI teams the same opportunity.

Sorry I was not clear, I am on your side. Pubic schools think recruiting is ok if you move into their district. I also was trying to explain that most kids that go to private schools pay their own way.

I'm with Cougars, also I guess its not recuiting when you get a family to move into your district or have the parents separate and one parent moves into an apartment in another district with their son or daughter. Private schools ask you to pay up to $12,000 a year to come to their school. I think that the TSSAA needs to send out financial aid totals for each school to show that there are very few schools that have athletes receiving aid.

St.Benedict won two games in the elimination round before losing to Beech. Not one of our better games. SBA also won four games in Hendersonville before loosing in extra innings to Brentwood and lost in the semi's of the Border Battle to Goodpasture. Less than 15 of our wins are against west teams. I think that this will be a very competative state tournament with four teams with a good chance to win it all. Good luck to everyone.

I believe its going to be a three horse race at state. We will know for sure in ten days.

I assure you that St. Benedict players are not like that. Sportsmanship comes before anything else at SBA. We have the utmost respect for Goodpasture and wish them well the rest of the season. Not that it matters but our pitcher was hit on the same elbow in the first inning. She could not move her arm for days, we did not put up a stink because we know that Goodpasture does not play like that. Our pitcher also knew that it was not intentional but part of the game. If you throw inside you are going to hit someone every once in a while. You just hate to see injuries, we also hope that your player has fully recovered.
