  1. A little above average team. Waverly played the worst game that they had played all year. Some of it had to do with the fact that Waverly had two lineman not playing, one the center on offense and the other a big athletic lineman. Both played defense too. The other had to do with just not being focused. Throw in West Tennessee officiating and it was ugly. Waverly stopped Riverside on 4th down when it was 14-0 and the referee signaled first down and picked up the ball. After the Waverly coach asked for measurement, the referee puts the ball down 1 full yard ahead and they make it by a length of football. A muffed punt was ruled interference on Waverly when a Riverside guy pushed the Waverly guy into him after he fumbled. Waverly moved the ball to the four on their first score and after 3 incomplete passes they were back to the six. Say what???? Still scored. Waverly dominated the end of third through the whole fourth quarter. At the end of the game, Waverly went for it deep in their territory and failed. Instead of taking a knee, guess what, the coach tries to score again with his starters still in with 59 seconds left. He also went for two leading 33-0. Any way, Riverside is a good team, but not impressive. To tell you the lack of dominance by the score it was 233 yds for Riverside 130 for Waverly. Waverly has played 3 teams that were better than Riverside.
  2. Sorry refs didn't give an advantage to no one that game. Waverly outgained CW in yardage and had the qb set up on 3rd down of the last drive before throwing, Waverly scores again with a wide open reciever 20 yards behind the CW defense giving them the victory. Cw run a fumble back 65 yds. (fluke play) I have to say if Lee isn't in the lineup CW does hurt a lot offensively though.
  3. Hope the team feels that way. I think you might be very surprised Friday night. I have respect for Riverside and think they are a good squad, but so is Waverly. And the Adamsville scrimmage don't mean anything. Scrimmages are just that, scrimmages where coaches try different things play a lot of people. This will be a very close game. Waverly will be ready to play. Oh by the way, thanks for the bulletin board material.
  4. very sloppy game. 10 turnovers. Waverly 6 McEwen 4. Waverly's seem to come at the most inopportune time when they were driving deep in McEwen territory. McEwen played an excellent game in the trenches, not sure why they have only won one game. Unofficial statistics for the game Waverly Rushing 156 yards Passing 127 yards Total 283 yards McEwen Rushing 54 yards Passing 64 yards Total 118 yards Good luck Warriors next week. Good luck Tigers going against a tough Riverside team. Should be a slobber knocker.
  5. You are correct. It was a poorly officiated game but for both teams. I could name a lot of calls that went CW way too that I didn't agree with. But that is part of the element of humans. Both sides recieved bad calls. I don't recall any of those plays you talked about but I'm sure you saw them. You are also correct that CW was lucky to come out with a win. Because is was clear that Waverly had the best team. Waverly outgained them by almost 100 yards. I see CW making some noise this year but Waverly will too. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.
  6. So proud of the Waverly Tigers tonight. They outplayed Creek Wood in all phases except the one that counts. Scoreboard. CW picks up a fumble and goes 65 yards for winning score. CW knocks down a pass as time expires to keep Waverly from winning. Waverly outgained 291 to 227 in yards. But a loss is a loss. Either way, this Waverly team isn't a joke. They will make some noise. Proud of the Blue and White guys tonight. Put this one behind you and run the table. Final CW 24 Waverly 19. Waverly misses two XP and Stecker kid from CW hits a 42 yarder for the difference in scoring.
  7. Never took anything away from Lewis, but I know how good Waverly is and they were the best team in the region, just not that night. Doesn't matter now. Good luck the rest of the way. And as far as Hickman having a gripe, I don't think so. I stayed to watch the game, Camden dominated that game from start to finish and I was actually looking at the clock when they blew the whistle and it was 1.8 seconds left. They put 1.5 back on after it had run down to .8.
  8. Agree with you. Lewis County is quick, can handle the ball and hit their free throws. But holding the ball is not playing basketball. Maybe the last 2 minutes of a game but not the whole fourth qtr. Did it against Waverly and assuming they did it to Camden. Beating Camden by 6 pts. proves my point even more. I still believe Waverly had the best team there. Waverly beat Camden 3 times, all late in the season by 11 pts., 11 pts. and 16 pts. in the District tournament and led by over 20 most of the game. But you have to win the game at hand and Waverly didn't play well at all against Lewis County. Good luck to them and Camden in tournament. Waverly girls, work hard during offseason and everyone needs to beware. NO seniors on this team. We will be back.
  9. I agree neuntyn as you can see with my posts above. Without Johnson, Marshall might not have made it out of their District tournament. He is the team. He's a man among boys. Waverly when they played them, could beat Marshall by 10-15 pts. without Johnson and our record was 10-18. Each time Johnson had to come out of the game for foul trouble Waverly began to catch them and even at that they never really pulled away. The final total was very misleading since they got some garbage baskets and free throws at end. In fact, Marshall was holding the ball at the beginning of the fourth quarter to avoid a comeback by Waverly. Creek Wood will win if they play any where near their potential.
  10. They are very quick and rely on the press to create a lot of their points. They like to penetrate the paint and have good ball movement. Last night they didn't show that they could hit the outside shot too well. But of course last night the Tigerettes shot very poorly. Lewis County is good, but in my honest opinion, I still think Waverly/Camden are the two best teams. Coach Wyatt really prepares her team well and you guys need to hold on to her for a long time. It seems Camden is peeking. Perhaps Waverly peeked too soon in the District tournament and dropped off the last two games but if Camden continues to play at the level they've been playing, they should win.
  11. Congratulations to Lewis County on their win. I was disappointed the Tigerettes didn't play that well though. I saw two very evenly matched teams, it just so happened that Lewis County had the lead at the right time. Good luck in the future. Congratulations to Camden tonight for their victory, and know that Waverly is rooting for you. We know it should have been rematch number 4.
  12. Well I've seen CreekWood several times and Marshall once that being the game they played against Waverly. I didn't come away very impressed other than the Johnson kid. He is the real deal but he has very little supporting cast. Waverly didn't play very well against them that night as they didn't hit a lot of shots that they normally hit. It was close through out. I say Creek Wood wins this game by 12 pts. Keep Johnson's points to a minimum and and it could be a very long night for Marshall.
  13. Well, first of all, I will not argue that Prince is the leader of the team, but by no means is she the only weapon Waverly has. And she does do a lot of things, but so do a lot of the other girls. I don't know how many games you saw, but I saw most since I broadcast the games and my wife does photographs for the newspaper. Prince, Bell, Dyer, Jones, Breeden, Bohannon, Hamm, Allison, Burlison and Hunt all have recieved extensive playing time in most games. Not every game, but most games. I also didn't say there was no drop off, I said very little drop off. All the girls have different skill levels and abilities to offer. They are solid. We have interviewed a lot of the girls on the radio too and every one says the same thing. We believe in each other and whoever Coach Rawlings puts in there, there is very little drop off if any. These are all of their exact words. So don't divide these girls, support them. I believe they are the team to beat in this region and I'm hoping they bring their A game Monday because they will need it against Lewis Co. They weren't playing well against Page on Friday night as the girls would tell you.
  14. Well I think both games could go either way. The only thing I question is how you seem to think Prince is the only one to stop on Waverly. We have three girls who have hit over 35 threes for the year, two who have hit over 45 and several more who have contributed as well. Almost everyone in the lineup has the ability to step out and hit the three and the Tigerettes are fast and play great defense. Second, I don't see how you say that Waverly isn't as deep. Coach Rawlings plays 10 girls most of the time and not much drop off when any come in. I think they are deeper than any team I've seen all year. So if someone wants to think stopping Prince is the key, go ahead, because the others will make you pay dearly.
  15. First of all, the only time Waverly held the ball was when they went for the last shot of qtr number 2. At the beginning, Waverly took their time looking for an open shot against a good defense. It's called motion offense. The only stalling going on was when Marshall got scared when Johnson went out because each time he left the line up Waverly began to cut into the lead. If you want to talk about anyone having a bad game, Vogel of Waverly had an off night, he usually hits most of his shots that didn't fall last night. Kedron is a great player, and Marshall plays great defense, but I believe Creek Wood has too many weapons and size for them. In fact Waverly was out rebounding them most of the night with a much shorter team. I think CW will win by double digits. Remember, Marshall only had a 6 pt lead with 6:38 to go with Johnson in. I have to admit, I thought when I came last night, from what I had heard, Waverly didn't stand a chance, but I saw quickly that if Kedron doesn't score, Marshall is in trouble and can be beat and Waverly gave them all they wanted. Good luck Creek Wood, keep up our district.
  16. First let me say, clownshoes that was one of the tackiest, inconsiderate posts I've read on here and I wish CoachT would ban you for it. Second, let me say congratulations to Creek Wood for being the only team in our district to advance. Let me say, that Creek Wood if you play hard defense and play with poise you will beat Marshall County. Marshall County is a one man team, Kedron Johnson. He likes to drive to the basket and you can pick up a lot of charges in fact he got into foul trouble in the second half. With 6:38 to go Waverly was only 6 points down. Marshall went to the stall when Kedron went out with 4:02 left otherwise Waverly would have caught them. Some cheap baskets and free throws made the score worse as this game was under 10 pts most of the way. This all with Vogel having a so so game shooting the ball. So make the district proud.
  17. Could happen but don't think it will. If Waverly plays like they did tonight they will not beat Lewis, but if they play like they did in the District tournament, they will win the region. Camden has the same ability to really turn it on. Should be an interesting two games with all four teams capable of winning the region. But it will be whoever is on that particular night.
  18. Well I guess I missed those. I really thought Creek Wood would overcome the sluggish play that had plagued them the last two weeks to win but obviously not and I went out on a limb for Harpeth, but I will tell you. Waverly played one of the poorest games they have played all year long tonight. They were lucky they even won as bad as they played. No one hitting shots but Prince tonight. The rest played good defense but shots weren't falling. I hope they got this out of their system as they face a very good Lewis County team Monday night.
  19. Page at Waverly Creek Wood at Hickman County (HC wasn't done any favors drawing Creek Wood 1st rd) Harpeth at Lewis County (Harpeth is playing much better than what they were the first of yr) Marshall County at Camden Once again, haven't seen the 12 AA play but have watched scores all year. So my best guess here is: Waverly Creek Wood Harpeth Camden Which leaves Waverly/Harpeth Camden/Creek Wood I believe it will be: Waverly and Creek Wood in finals with Waverly taking the region. But once again, there's a reason the games are being played, you can't win on paper.
  20. Well let's see: Giles County at Creek Wood Waverly at Marshall Co. Harpeth at Spring Hill Page at Montgomery Central I haven't seen any of the 12 AA teams play but have kept up with their seasons. So here's my best guess. Creek Wood Marshall County Spring Hill Montgomery Central Which brings the match ups of Creek Wood/Marshall County and Spring Hill/Montgomery Central I guess: Marshall County and Montgomery Central with Marshall County winning the region. But who knows, that's why you play the games right?
  21. Red hot Tigerettes continued their dominance in the region last night. But as we all know, you can't let up. Stay focused girls because anyone can beat you now if you don't bring your A game.
  22. Haven't seen Hickman County play but I'm sure the HC coaches aren't happy about drawing Creek Wood the first round. Creek Wood is a really well coached team and they have put up a couple of lackluster performances the last two games so you have to figure it won't happen again. I would say this is the most interesting matchup of the region's first round. I think the winner is headed to final though. But then that is why you play the games.
  23. Harpeth beats CreeK Wood again last night in the consolation game...did Creek Wood play all their players last night? Harpeth 3rd Creek Wood 4th...going to be tuff to beat at tourney time Actually, I am not really sure what Coach Mullinicks was doing last night. Starters played about half the game for Creek Wood. He substituted 4 in 4 out the whole game. Creek Wood built 11-12 pt lead but you have to hand it to Harpeth, they battled back, took the lead late and hung on. Looked like they wanted it more. In my opinion, I think that any of these 4 teams in this District could win the region although the Waverly Tigerettes are the hot team right now. Good luck to everyone in our District. You're right, I'm sure Hickman County is not too happy drawing Creek Wood the first round.
