Well ladynred, our season as is yours is over. The day after is always a big downer for me, but with AAU and Summer Camps, it will not be long before we can talk of Thanksgiving tourneys etc... Predictions ...... yeah I'll give that a try. (1) Shelbyville solidifies itself as the dominate power of 8AAA once again. (2) Columbia will struggle to hold on to second. They are losing a boat load of talent. (3) Franklin County could very well be the two team in regular season next year. (4) Lawrence County ??? Don't know about the coach, but we could be a lot thinner next year than this, even though we have only one senior. We only had one last year and lost 10. If that trend continues, we will have negative numbers in two years The sausage however, will continue to be great!!! (5) Lincoln County will not play on the road the first round of district tourney next year and will continue to have the best music in the district. (6) Coffee County .... I don't know enough about what hey have coming back/in to make a call but I do expect them to improve. (7) Tullahoma is still a few years away from contending, but the steps they are making are the correct ones. I do see light at the end of the tunnel and it is no longer the train coming at them. (8) I will eat more sausage next year assuming I am still alive. That is the only prediction I have any input into and I plan to make it happen HOOPS TO YA EVERYONE!!!! AAU and Summer Camp are coming (Thank you Lord!!!) kw

We are expecting a GREAT team from Siegel. You have reason to be proud and we would expect nothing less. When this game is over, I expect both teams will know they have been in a fight. I don't however expect us to be taller, faster or more athletic than the Stars. We are 7 deep at best so you will also have the bench as a plus. Guts??? I will believe another team has more guts than ours when I see it GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM!!! HOOPS TO YA!!!!! kw

BanjoDr It was good seeing you at the game Friday night. Thought y'all had a W but it slipped away Wish you the best in the regional. I like the way we match up with the Stars, so I agree, we should get the win if we do indeed play the D. If we don't play D then it's a short post season for us. As bad as we have been whipped by Shelbyville so many times, I don't know why I am saying this, but I sure would like one more shot at them. Well, that's assuming we do something different on the defensive side HOOPS TO YA and GO 8AAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! kw

I have watched this young lady for several years now during games and practice. There is one word that always comes to my mind when watching her. That word.......... LEADERSHIP!!! She is not vocal, she comes to work and leads by her actions. That is the kind of player I want on my team and the kind of friend I want covering my back. Congrats Ash-Mo and.............. Nope, the sausage will be fresh. Too early yet to start, but they won't be the only thing smoking in that gym tonight. I just ask everyone, is there anything outside of God, Country and Family that is better than Basketball??? I mean where else would you rather be on a Friday night. Four great games, all the good food and company you could ask for, nice and warm and hopefully dry I know I make too much of this game, but it is the truth so help me God, I can't get enough of it. Yes my friend, it has been a great thread. Not that many of reach the 10,000 mark and a lot of people have made a lot of good points on this topic. Don't remember if you started the 8AAA Tourney Opinion thread, but if you did I am sorry it got blasted. Never found out if my post was the reason or if it got out of hand last night. Well, it is just my opinion, so no need to think another thought about it. But, here is my reasoning. (1) New coach means new system to be taught. Think that was done. (2) The team finished third in the district with a very good player out for the year. (3) This is a great group of girls, but compare the talent level at the start of this season to the two teams in front of them and for that matter the two below them .... again just my opinion, but I think he got a lot out of them. (4) Always thought this guy was a good game coach and I still do. Just a note about coach Crabtree. I have a lot of respect for her for all the work she has put in with that program. It was always year round and pedal to the metal. I have coached against her on a few occasions and you knew you were always in for a battle. She never quit coaching, NEVER!!! I will always be a fan of hers. Still the only coach I have seen in a AAU tourney to call time out and have her team run sprints the whole time out just to make a point. Well, 8AAA has about run it's course for this year. This has been a great thread and is approaching the 10,000 hit mark. Great job shootmore!!! It will not be long now and I'll be itching for Summer Camps to hurry up and open. Time for a few Luther awards from the regular season. (1) Most Improved: Shelbyville, yep I said Shelbyville. From the start of the season until now, I think they have shown more improvement than any other 8AAA team. Even with a loss and a near miss toward the end of the season, they are way better than when they started. I really just didn't think they were very good early. (2) Best Offense: Columbia, I just think their guard play and inside out combo is the best in the district. (3) Best Defense: Shelbyville, they really know how do the "Tighten Up". (4) Most Guts: Lawrence County, they are the little engine that could. (5) Coach of the year: John Wild of Franklin County. I think he did more with what he had than any other coach. (6) MVP: Alex Ross of Columbia (7) Best Concession Stand: Most important ward to me goes to Lawrence County. No surprises here. The sausage on the east side and the pizza and chicken on the west is just too much!!!! Glad there is a early game today so I can eat early. I try to make a couple of Summertown games each season just so I can remember how defense should be played. I got to see a good example at this game. You are right, the early lead did not hold long for Wayne Co. I saw no taunting at either game I have seen this called (by the same crew!!!) just a divide and run out. I think we had always taken the court the same way for years also (not sure about it but think so) but looks like we may have to change. I put this post up originally because I can think of a lot of teams that take the court the same way in Middle and High Schools. It is tourney time and it would be a shame for something like this to happen and have a negative impact on the game. Good Luck to Summertown and I expect to see them in "The Boro". DEFENSE ..... I agree that 7AAA may be down this year, but so is 8AAA and I don't think for a minute that 8AAA is going to walk through 7AAA like a Sunday afternoon stroll. Trust me on this one, any of the 8 teams going into region have a shot at making it out. The two that do make it will have to battle for their lives from there on. Good luck to all the teams. This is what you have trained all year for and now it is here. I hope that every team plays their very best every outing, because if they do, we are all in for a treat. HOOPS TO YA!!!!!!!!!! kw

Yep, this could be a distraction. I hope that both our teams keep the important thing first in their minds, but this could be a problem. This dance is a big thing to the kids (kinda like a Winter Formal) and a lot of time and effort is put into making it a good time for all. Flowers, Formals, Tux's, Dinner Resv. and Limo's had to be put on hold because of Ole Man Winter. Let's just hope that Lincoln and Lawrence are focused on Monday night, because if they are, we will see a GREAT ballgame. These two match up very well with each other so it will be a war. The only dance I care about is the BIG one in "The Boro" HOOPS TO YA AND TO ALL OUR LINCOLN CO. FRIENDS, PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY!! kw

Well, that helps me understand that particular call. I did not see the players against the far wall. I can understand if there is taunting involved that you make the call, but just taking the floor and minding your own business ..... I don't think it should be called. If you puposefully disrupt the other team or taunt them, then call it. I have searched the National Federation pages on this and it seems the refs themselves are divided as to when to make the call and when to stay out of it. Almost everything a ref has to call is judgement. Some make good use of it and some don't HOOPS TO YA!!!!!!!!!! and THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE!! kw

I don't know about Lawrence Co. gym being such a neutral site??? I think the local crowd would support Columbia over any of the teams East of 65 but I could be wrong. Of the teams East of 65 I think Franklin Co. would have the home court (fans) edge since the Wild Thing coached and was very successful here. Saw Lincoln Co. scouting last nights Lawrence Co./Lewis Co. game. They could have stayed at home as it was probably the worst game I have seen this year. We were sloppy and they were worse. As with any game, I saw some positives so we have just got to take those and build on them. HOOPS TO YA!!!!! kw

Situation: With officials present on court. Team is entering court prior to game for warm ups. Team splits into two groups at one end of the gym and both groups run up the sideline and crisscross in center of court for high fives etc... The bench is issued a technical foul. Shots awarded to opposing team and ball also side out to start game. I have seen this twice this year (once at Giles Co./Lawrence Co. and once at Summertown/Wayne Co.) by the same set of refs. I know the rule is there, but I would like a ref to clear up the reason for it and if it is new or just a point of emphasis. Seems some refs call it and others do not??? HOOPS TO YA!!!!!!!! kw
