Any time that you play a team in your own district or region for that matter, strange things can happen. As the Goodpasture coach said in the City Paper, most of the coaches in 9A have been at their schools for four years, so they know the other teams pretty well.

This is the same setup that the Hendersonville paper has had the last few years. Yes, I am glad that the Tennessean has that, but you would think that they would have district standings at some point. At least there's CoachT!

The Knoxville paper seems to keep up to date on HS b-ball. I guess this is why Tennessee is not known as a basketball "hotbed", and the papers in Nashville help to perpetuate that myth. There are several very good players in the Mid-state, but only a few get ink.

I wish someone could explain the terrible coverage of HS Hoops in the Tennessean. I don't think that they have posted district standings all year in the paper, and their coverage is awful. Local coverage generally consists of Predators, Titans and college b-ball. Why is this?

Sounds like a great game. Wish I had of been there. An interesting thing about officiating this year that I have noticed is that some games are called for every picky foul that there is, and some games let the kids play. What I have found out, is that the games that let them play are officiated by refs that mainly do college games, but are TSSAA refs also. I, myself, like those games better. The worst games are when you get those refs that you also see Saturday mornings doing Junior Pro games!

Looks like Wayne County must have Mt. Pleasants number. Two defeats in one yaear and a blowout on the second. Wow.

The rankings show that they do not know anything about what is happening, especially in Class A ball. It doesn't even make sense to pay attention or get frustrated by the polls since they don't matter.

That's what makes high school sports the best that there is! Good luck to both teams. What happened with Biggs? I had heard that he was suspended for six games after the last McEwen game, but played against Lipscomb. He's a good aggressive player with a lot of heart.

Should be a great game between two very good teams. Does McEwen pack the gym for big games. Never been there and wondered what the basketball climate is. Good luck to both teams, though I know that this is a big rivalry and there is some animosity there.

In response to the fcpress comment, which unlike the College Heights team was pretty classless, CPA was not playing at full strength, as your coaches and players know. The results might have been different in all three games if they had have been. fcpress gets one of the most the classless posts of the year. Congratulations. Other than that, this game should be a classic 9A battle with two good teams and coaches.

Where do these numbers come from? They seem very strange with DCA behind FRA after beating them twice and their only district loss coming to Goodpasture by 1. Interesting numbers.

Very good observations Big48Eagle. Tonights game between CCS and Temple will tell a big story of what's going to happen in Chattanooga. I'm sure that it will be a very competitive game against two teams that are big rivals! Hope someone posts that score and details about the game early. Also, I don't think that anyone should overlook DCA or FRA.

Moore County? The same Moore County that lost to Ezell-Harding twice this year? They must have improved a lot in the last few weeks! I think that kingbrian3 has the inside track though!

The quote about Ezell Harding was great but only if you consider Loretto an elementary school team. Did Loretto drop from a from 2A to elementary school? I think that Ezell scored 77 that game, but did hit 80 against some other team. If you are playing a bad team, and don't put in your 2nd, 3rd, 4th teams, that is wrong. If the B and C teams are beating a team, too bad.

Goodpasture should win this game with relative ease, though anything can happen. Goodpasture should be a huge favorite, and are playing as a team picked #1 by the City Paper. From what the City Paper said, it should be a tough race between these top four teams that they picked - GP, DCA, FRA and Ezell - a real dogfight! None of these teams should be worried at all about those other two teams, CPA and Montessori, and should really overlook them when they play them.

I agree that as many players should get as much playing time in a blowout as possible depending on what quarter it is. I have seen many basketball teams come back from 20 points down to win a game. But, with that said, if a good team is playing a poor team, play everybody and let the starters rest and not take the chance of a stupid injury. This goes the same in football or any sport, not just basketball. I know that when one football team in Nashville was running up very high scores a few years ago, the starters played most of the game to pad their stats. Not very good sportsmanship, and missing out on a good opportunity to your underclassmen some experience.

When do the first AP rankings come out and what newspapers have them? Also, does anybody know why the TSSAA website never has basketball scores, but still seems to have football scores? Seems like other than pre-season rankings, the City Paper doesn't carry scores either.

Looks like an error on the Coach T scoreboard. The Tennessean has Goodpasture playing College Heights tonight, not CAK. Too bad.
