  1. VG waved bye to 25 a long time ago. Actually, he could be classified as an "Old Timer" too.
  2. Bad terminology on my part, Big G and mjuhb. No disrespect intended. I couldn't name 250 HS Soccer players, boys and girls combined. Just stating that the title of the Forum is misleading. I know it is all in fun and I know that girls named on the various All State Teams are not necessarily the best either. Unless you have total access to all sections of the state and can personnally see all the players play, then you cannot name the best players in the state. You can, however, name your Top 250 players. Anyways, isn't it always a judgement call? How do you differentiate between number 249 & 250? Guess it depends on the tint of those Rose Colored Glasses..... Anyways, good work mjuhb, what you do for soccer on this forum is greatly appreciated and as always underappreciated at the same time. You do have my respect for at least naming 250 HS soccer players..
  3. So, Technically speaking of course, your Forum Heading should read: "MJUHB's Top 250 Soccer Players that I have seen", not "The Top 250 Soccer Players in Tennessee" as you currently have it. That is a direct slap in the face to some outstanding players that you haven't seen. MJUHB, you do great work and research, don't get me wrong, but you can't title it as you have it and be correct.
  4. Thanks, PH. As everyone knows, you have to start somewhere. While several of the "upper echelon" players are still going to Memphis this year for club ball, there was a good turnout of alot of younger girls. We may not be very competitive at first, but if Keith and his coaches can instill the basics of footwork, balance, passing, etc. into these young players, then that starts the foundation. It can only get better from here and as the next few year's progression takes place, then those girls that had been going to Memphis for club ball will maybe start staying closer to home and practicing/playing with the local club. Thus, the players practicing with them get even better by learning from them also. It is a domino effect as most of you know, so while I am excited that my 15 yr old is helping start this tradition by participating, I am more excited about the possibilities of my 5 yr old over the next 10 to 15 yrs. I just hope I can keep up
  5. Congrats to Josh. Speaks alot about his talent and work ethic to get a full baseball scholarship to an SEC school. Now we have to wait and see if he uses it or gets selected in the upcoming MLB draft. Good luck in whichever path you choose Josh.
  6. As a former classmate of her mom and basketball teammate of her dad, I can see that she definitely got her mom's basketball skills Good luck to Kayla at Ole Miss.
  7. Send it to me via email: hotrod471@yahoo.com In advance, I would like to say thanks for the info & assistance.
  8. McKenzie TCA CPA Westview Milan Giles Crockett Co. Haywood (Only because of D'burg's past performances in playoffs)
  9. GREAT turnout last night. For those girls interested, but not able to come. Orientation/practice Thurs night at Union University gym from 7-9pm and Sat from 9-12am. No payments due to join club until AFTER you go thru the orientation/practices to see if it is what you want. I understand that they have enough involvement to start 15, 16 & 17 yr old teams, with possibility of more than one team in a couple of the age groups. I am going to try and get club info/phone numbers/ etc. onto the other thread within the next week or so. Also, understand that the Jackson Jrs. (club name) does not have website yet, so may contact some of the other clubs to find out some insider info on best way to go about this. Any/all help appreciated and good luck to the girls attending last night.
  10. Perfect....ask Milan Football Coaches how that all worked out this year. They were told that they were in compliance on an issue when they asked prior to a transfer taking place, only to be penalized halfway thru the season via game forfeitures by the TSSAA for saying they weren't in compliance. They did everything they were supposed to do, even went beyond that and thought they were in good graces. So, no, the institution and coaches/AD's DO NOT need more responsibility. The TSSAA needs more COMMON SENSE!!!

  12. Appreciate the input Zeek. Their trademark is their endless pressure and I was a little concerned where I saw that they only had 4 shots on goal in one of the previous posts. Apparently, that speaks volumes for CAK and their defense. Hopefully, these girls can learn from this experience and use it to return to the finals again next year. Good luck to CAK also.
  13. Congrats to CAK from USJ. Great game from what I hear. Details appreciated when someone gets the chance. Great year to the Lady Bruins who are young and will be back.
  14. Why? USJ had ND and KC in their pool for volleyball. No complaints here, but to be the best, you have to beat the best, whether in semis, quarters or finals. I think USJ has proven that they can play with the big dogs. It didn't seem to be a problem when there were no West Tn teams competing for the title, why now? Go Lady Bruins!!
  15. My bad...OCCHS has a history of running coaches out of town before given a real chance. I played for 3 in my four years there. Good luck to the "Runnin" Rebs this year.
  16. Didn't practice just start on the 30th???? Come on guys, give the man a break. At this rate, everyone will be talking about what a bad hire he was. Coach Kail's record speaks for itself and his teams will be disiplined, BUT he doesn't own a magic wand to wave. Give him time. Go Rebels!!
  17. Ah, VG, that is the thing they call defense at USJ. If they can hold CAK to 1 or 2 goals, they have a very good shot at winning. All season long, they have held their opponents down fairly good. I still say USJ 2-1. Go Lady Bruins!!!
  18. Open to everyone, particularly high school and middle school players. This meeting is to specifically gauge the interest in the area to see how many teams and age groups can be represented. So please, attend this meeting and tell others that might be interested.
  19. Wish I could be there to watch the game and meet you also, BigG, but Volleyball in M'boro took all my vacation time. Here's to both teams and may it be safe, fun and sportsmanlike in nature.
  20. USJ 2-1 Whatever it ends up, it will not be a blowout like Coniglio predicted on another thread. Go Lady Bruins!
  21. Agreed...if it is ever going to happen, now needs to be the time. We need to get it to a point where the top players want to stay in Jax and play club for a "home team" in lieu of going to Memphis every week. Hopefully we will be making all of the Nashville/Memphis/Huntsville, etc. circuits and more this winter. Keith Hutchison is a great teacher of fundamentals, as is supported by his daughters excellent play at TCA and Union Univ., so we are looking forward to not only getting our daughters better acquainted fundamentally with the game, but also "learning" the ins/outs of the game. Appreciate the support!
  22. USJ girls team is the first soccer team (boys or girls) from W. TN (ouside of Shelby Co) to play this deep into the State Tourney. In Girls soccer, it is the first team to win more than one game in the tourney.
  23. For those girls in the Jackson TN area, Keith Hutchison is trying to build club ball in the Jackson/West TN area. Meeting Monday night, Nov.6th at Union University Gym at 7pm. Come on out and lets get this rolling. I hear that UU coaches and players will be involved, but don't know extent. Now is the time for the VB explosion to happen in West TN. Soccer has finally taken hold due to the explosion of club teams here over the last 10 yrs and VB is just planting the seeds. Hope to see a lot of interested young ladies there Monday.
  24. Totally agree, VG. My kids have enjoyed and are currently enjoying playing sports. But you know what, I am more proud of how they handle themselves in situations such as a defeat. That is where you find out your child's true character. If we as parents, whine, gripe, make excuses, etc. in front of our child, degrade/question coaches, complain about officiating, etc. they will act the same way. We set the examples and we reap what we sow. Your child is a direct reflection of you as a parent. While my daughter was sad when they got beat last week in the Volleyball State tourney, she was quick to commend both ND and KC as very good teams. No excuses about officiating, non calls, missed calls, private schools advantages, recruiting, or anything else. Just that they got beat by better teams and that they know what they have to do to get better for next year's State Run. I was a very proud parent that day.

Correct on both calls plus they are a young team with most everyone returning next year also. Good luck Lady Bruins against CAK. Bring that trophy westward.
