  1. no problem for the edit...the list or info that i used in the original post were for the division one schools...talent is talent and i know the ladies in division two use the same size ball and the same size court. i would never knowingly slight any athlete from any school. as soon as you posted i edited the list and thank you for sharing that info....good luck in the post season tourneys. peace

  3. well brother, i dont know about all that. mcmillan certainly has a foundation to build on and im sure that if a letter has been sent to tt, then he sees a spot for her somewhere in the future. and if you keep up with utm this year, butler isnt the only great player on the team. ..i like lake county, and the folks there have a heritage to be proud of. and it isnt just carl perkins and boyettes!...lol!! peace
  4. remember those are your words about butler, not mine. never claimed she was the best. why knock her because she plays for utm? trust me, she had plenty of big school offers. i believe they utm played louisville, vanderbilt, and kentucky this year. always thought they were big time schools, but then i just an old boy from ky. anyway, it is like comparing apples to oranges. butler certainly has joined an elite group of players in tn and there is no shame in that. hope that the teams and players that you root for do they're very best in the post season. peace
  5. children, lets calm down! why bring butler, reedy, and griffin into this as they proved their point to everyone last year and the year before. if pioneer was proud of his team then let him have that. dont think he ever got bent out shape like what is going on this year. it is just his opinion which he is entitled to. futhermore, flowers shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence with butler. butler doesnt care about showing off, the stats, but just winning. when she steps on the court she makes the team better and still is busting records as a d1 freshman just as she did in hs. best leave her out of this mess. and yes im from gc.
  6. Nothing is impossible for God. Praying for all.
  7. First, I am biased. Second, it is a very rare occasion that these posts are ever unbiased and third I have been following Ms. Butler's career from day one. She was taught that whoever her competition was, that when she stepped on the court, she was the best player period. It has helped her to overcome many disadvantages that she has encountered since the second grade. Other then parochial league and AAU she has never attended special camps other then school camps, she never had special trainers or special coaches. Am I putting down a player that had these advantages, of course not. Could her performance been enhanced if she had attended, I certain it would have. But she and her family decided what were the top priorities in her young life and she has made all of us proud. From Coach Joe, Coach Dale, and Coach Kyle in the second grade to all of the outstanding coaches in Middle School, AAU, and High School. Her mother and sister have always been there to support and encourage Heather. Heather is a hard worker and a joy to coach. She is humble, not proud at all. She was taught from day one, that it really doesn't matter how many points you make or rebounds, or assists, or even steals. What does matter is if your team wins or loses. I think it is safe to say that Heather Butler helps her team mates perform better then if she wasn't on the team and she sets an example to other young girls on how to act on and off the court. I wont debate on the other posts because I think it is a shame to demean any of these ladies. The hours of practice over all these years, the effort on and off the court is remarkable. That fact alone would make just about any player in the state eligible for a Miss Basketball title. But since I am biased, I dont know who your favorite player is or what their stats are because these are the facts, Heather Butler is my favorite child and we all know any player can have an outstanding night just as that same player can have a bad night. Knowing this, Heather Butler can hold her own against anyone, anywhere, any time. I'm sure I have forgotten to mention people but it is not a slight just an oversight. Congratulations to all of the finalists and to the supporting coaches, team mates, officials, parents, and fans. They all are what makes Tennessee basketball what it is. Signed by a proud fan from Gibson County and the state of Tennessee.
  8. Butler had 35, would have had more if not taken out with the rest of the starting lineup.
  9. Well, make that 52 in a row after a 36 point win over Crockett Co. If our streak is going to come to an end this season, it'll happen Tuesday when we travel to Westview. I see Westview didn't schedule a game for Friday, so they'll have a full week off and be running on fresh legs. Gibson Co. will have a somewhat tough game Friday night as we travel to a decent Haywood Co. team. GC hasn't played particularly well against Milan and against Crockett tonight, however if we played like we did against Dyersburg, no one will beat us. mother used to say, "if, ifs and ands were pots and pans, there would be no room for dishes" any team can beat another team on any given night with the right variables and it has nothing to do with talent or poll standings. we beat covington by 50+ yet martin beat them less then 10.
  10. Thanks LA, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all in your community! Citizens like you only affirm my decision to move to Tennessee 13 years ago. Good luck on the journey for the gold ball, it could be your's! We are glad to have you in TN. LA is having a bit of a struggle right now (it seams)in being able to play a good 4 quarters. After the Cannon Co. game LA has played kinda sub par. But i think things are looking up for the LA team. Coach Smith will have them back in shape before we get back to district play. Its going to be an interesting ride for the rest of the season which I hope comes to and end on the last day of the state tourney with the LA girls holding a gold ball. I hope we have a chance to play Gibson Co in the tournement at somepoint prob the championship game. How is Gibson playing right now? I havent saw any scores in a while ive not had internet access. Gibson Co. is winning by an average of 39 pts per game, the closest spread was against Westview earlier this month, 11pts, and Obion Co., 16pts. The largest margins of victory are 64 against Ripley and 57 against Covington. More often then not, Butler, Griffin, and Reedy are getting limited playing minutes in the second half. !!!
  11. GC, that 8:30 game is Liberty vs Bolivar.
  12. pls give this wisdom to the other teams in the state. the ones that have a losing season and are at the bottom in their districts. that they cannot get better unless they compete in a tourney, that at best will only prove the Gibson County High School girls are human! Down here in GC we know all of our girls and encourage them to succeed, not to fail or throw them to the wolves. Im certain there are players better in stats then the girls on GC team this year, BUT i know that no team in Tennessee is better. that means period!
  13. Thanks LA, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all in your community! Citizens like you only affirm my decision to move to Tennessee 13 years ago. Good luck on the journey for the gold ball, it could be your's!
  14. So, you're moreless telling me that Gibson Co. stacks their schedule with easy teams just to have a 35-0 season? That's ridiculous. GC didn't have a game within 20 points in the last 14 games of the season last year. They beat every team they played in the state tournaments by atleast 20 points last year! Is that not enough to prove to you and others that Gibson Co. was absolutely the best team in AA girls basketball team in Tennessee last year? We may not even be the best in AA this year (nothing has been proven yet) and you guys are telling us to go out and play against top teams in the nation while we start 3 Seniors and 2 Sophomores with a Sophomore and 2 Freshman coming off the bench? GCP, You have always been fair and unbiased in your'e quotes. I see a time that I thought I would never see, posters that have been fair and unbiased toward GC, turn and become jealous and everything else! It is probably best not to engage in this. It is so sad, for people I have respected over the years now turn and say such things about the GC program. If they are so confident and they have the money to send GC to an out of state tourney, why dont they use that money to come to Dyer, TN. I might be speaking out of turn, but i'm sure Coach Russell will give them all they want. And that is not just for Tennessee teams but all the so called wonder teams that make all the tournaments nationwide! He has been with the seniors since freshman year, i personally know him, and I know that whatever or whatever not has been in the best interests of Gibson Co. High School and every player on that team. If anyone wants to question David Russell then step up friend, how many championship teams are under your belt! signed, proud to be from Gibson County, Tennessee
  15. Not too bad of a guess, only two points off. I am surprised at the comments on these boards. I have been faithfully following these girls since 2001 and my faith and confidence in this team has never been in doubt. 13AA has several outstanding star players. That has never been in question. But Gibson County have players that have a destiny and no one will take that from them. Why does anyone have the nerve to even suggest their losing a game with the senior stars they returned from last year who by the way were all 1st team all state, and one making the west tn player of the year. I love the competition in 13AA but folks, get on the bus. Support Gibson County to do another repeat and bring home another gold ball. Their achievement only tells the rest of the state and the nation the calibre of ladys that play ball in this area! Oh, how sad, i'm so grieved, Butler only scored 20 pts tonight! How terrible. And this was a game that was considered by most to be the most important game of the season. Support GC and quit hoping they will fail!
  16. Hey GCP im am lookin for Heather Butlers score for the Westview Liverty game, the Westview Bolton game, the Haywood game, and the Westview game. If you can help me out is is much appreciated!
  17. GCP that puts Griffin over the 1000 point mark for her career. Congrats to her on that acomplishment. another congratulations to Heather Griffin
  18. Congrats to to Butler for #4 State cross country. Awesome acheivement! She continues to make 13AA proud.
  19. Congratulations to Ms. Glenn!!
  20. GCP, do you know who Reedy is going to play for next year and do you know if the Pioneers schedule has been finalized?
