  1. Okay - let me try to help you... Use this link Ravenwood Raptor Wrestling. In the center of the page click on - 2005 Regional Tournament Information, this will take you to the Region 5 Tournament page. Then click on Brackets updated 2/10 8:45pm - this will take you the the software control center that is being used for the tournament. At this point you can look at parings, brackets, teams, etc. Enjoy!
  2. It will be an impressive match both this Saturday and again next Saturday!
  3. Hamm - Dare I ask where you will be this weekend? I bet I'll see you there!
  4. Hamm - Let me find a ruler and you hold out your hands!
  5. I have to agree that the boys at Franklin have had some great guys working with them through the years - Tommy Badon, Gary Bullard, Charlie Warfield (the middle one), Matt Oddo, Rodney Cash, Randy Stevens, Jon Hill, Joe Blair, Tim Deaton, Big Jeremy (you know who you are), Darin Geasey and so many others that I cannot remember all the names. (Many of these guys are year round wrestlers - so they have been coached by nearly everyone in the county & across the state!) With all these coaches doing their part through the years, Jeramie Welder & Charlie Gillespie have a great team of hosses to haul the gold back to middle TN. Let me assure you that I know Welder & Gillespie had to use some elbow grease on a few of those hard heads, but they got it done! Now - Welder, Gillespie & Hosses - I expect the same in two weeks! BDD - I sure 'Soapy' appreciates you publishing his nick name to the masses. Poor guy won't be able to go to a match or tournament now without everyone asking him how he got that name. I have to admit, I'm sitting here laughing about it all over again! Good luck to the fRanklin Rebels as they prepare for the Regions and on to State in two weeks!
  6. Clarksville always does a great job and have a great gym to host this event!
  7. Well I'm holding out that Mrs. Willie Dickerson does the right thing for the wRestling Rebels! Heard that she was one of the fans in the stands and witnessed first hand the celebration when Kirn pinned his guy. It is unfortunate that the FHS student body was not present in bodies, but heard that there were lots of other schools joining our fans to cheer them to victory. I just love the wrestling family! FHS is probably one of the few high schools in the area that can honestly say that their Administrator comes from a wrestling family. Heard she even went on the local radio station a week or so ago and told all the listeners her perspective of the events during the championships last year. I don't hold out much hope on the AD or other FHS administrators, but I'm sure hoping that Mrs. Dickerson shows the guys how proud Franklin is for bringing it home for the second time! Go Rebels! Giles CO.

This is a great loss to Franklin & Williamson County. I remember when we lost Coach Palmer and we hated that as well. Earlier this week I had the opportunity to sit with a group of coaches that either are currently coaching or have coached in Williamson County. I wonder if our County Commissioners, School Board Members & School Administrators realize how difficult they are making it for us to continue to have successful athletic programs in Williamson County. Yes, we have wonderful academic programs, but you need the athletic and other extracurricular activities to deliver well rounded young adults into our communities.
  9. FHS had better do something special for this team and not forget about them like they did the last time that FHS won the State Wrestling Titles. I hope we do not have a repeat of that lack of respect and what it could cost our wrestling program! Lil Charlie was there!
  10. Tried to call a few of folks that were/are there and not getting an answer... Sorry!
  11. Well there were a few that were concerned about the old nag not being in Clarksville and were kind enough to keep me updated while I fight the flu. I just got the call a few minutes ago that Franklin has upset Bradley 32-31! Let me be the first to say congratulations to this group of young men, Coach Welder & Coach Gillespie - Job Well Done!
  12. Jose - they may not pay you, but I'm sure I could line up some cold drinks afterward down the street... Thank you for all you do to support the sport of wrestling.
  13. Is this an 'open' tournament or is it sanctioned by AAU, FCI or USAW?
  14. USA Wrestling has been in TN for a long time and I've been aware of USAW (along with FCI, AAU & NHSCA) tournaments over the last 7 years that I have lived here. Like you, I have had FCI, NHSCA, AAU & USA memberships over the years to make sure my kids could compete regardless of who sanctioned the event. If you would like to know more about USAW in Tennessee, check out their website Tennessee Wrestling Federation. On their message board you should be able to see their schedule, state wide news bulletins, etc.
  15. BDD - have you checked the TWF message board? Louise is always pulling some great articles from across the state and nation regarding wrestling activities. Chances are she probably has the article you are looking for. Go to their message board and they have a section dedicated to news articles. Sure was good to see you last week!
  16. Heard he injured a knee @ Father Ryan. Bad deal - great kid from a wonderful family! We will miss him in Feb @ region & state events!
  17. Grip - The last I heard this young man was the eldest son in the Coffey family. He works hard on and off the mat along with his younger brother. Their Dad is a great guy and I wouldn't be suprised if a Coffey girl comes along and cleans someone's clock. My congrats were to the family, which includes this young man. Bottom line - this would have been an amazing match to see and wish I could have been there. I think a lot of the Brooks family as well! Hate to see Stanley loose, but he knows what he needs to do for February to take that gold medal back to Dickson. Good luck to both of these young men as the continue to prepare for the big dance in Feb!
  18. Wow - looks like Cottrell & Bray may be the toughest coaches in the state! I love the Bray practice room - gun powder, smack talk, whips! Best of all he did mention homework after all was said and done!
  19. Wow I knew Coffey was good - has been since he was a kiddo. Congrats to the Coffey family on a huge win!
  20. Many TN wrestlers dream of going on to wrestle in college, however due to constraints they are not always able to travel out of TN to see how it is done in other states. For the TN athletes that fall into this category it is critical that they compete in events where there are teams from other states coming in for the event. Yes Mater Dei is amazing, but look at how much you learn from wrestling & watching these guys compete on the mat. Look around at some of the better teams across our state - typically they have programs that travel to out of state tournaments & camps, not to mention spring & summer wrestling programs. More wrestlers need to remember win or lose - you learn from every match what you need to be working on to improve. Mater Dei handed out a lot of homework to the TN boys prepare them for the State Championships next month. Good luck to all wrestlers and coaches as they prepare for regional & state events!
  21. Amen on Brad Fiscus! He truly understands the sport (since he is a coach) and runs great tournaments. Whatever he charges, he is worth every single penny! Kudos to Coach Blair & Coach Fiscus for a well run event, you make GP proud year after year.
  22. Joe & Brad - You've done GP proud once again! Great event as always and well run, keep up the tradition. It is such a pleasure to come to your event as a spectator.
  23. It's okay Dent! No they haven't gone head to head yet this year. I have to agree that this one will more than likely go 3 periods, I've watched one over the years coming up through the ranks and the other one I've watched as the 'other' guy. These young men are very competitive, training seriously in their senior year, and it will be an amazing match on Saturday. Good luck to both Kirn & Meredith!
  24. I have to agree on questions with the seeding, but knowing Coach Fiscus - I'm betting that records & medalists may not have been turned in. My question is - Any one want to take the public humilation and risk making predictions on who the winners will be? There are some of these matches that could easily be repeated in Feb down in Chattanooga!
