  1. Oh that is terrible! Max is such a great competitor, I must of missed seeing him get injured a FR. Will keep in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery!
  2. I agree, Smyrna should keep this up! It is great to have an alternative tournament going on during Father Ryan's Tournament. In years past, Page High School ran a tournament on the same weekend. This is a great avenue for those clubs that are trying to build up their programs and have some success as they work toward their region & state events.
  3. Yes FR got called for stalling, but the kid from Overton didn't get off the hips either - isn't that stalling too? I know I'm the 'nit wit' on a lot of things, but this kid from Overton did get a stalling call early in the match and the coach protested it and then never got called again. The rest of the match (from my view) he never got off Oddo's hips. When you are the top guy aren't you suppose to move from side to side and not ride the hips constantly? It was a great match! Luckily there were fans sitting between Overton & FR - otherwise there could have been a brawl. Congrats to Franklin - You boys look good!

Hamm, You were forgiven a few days ago! You have done a great job and no apology was or is necessary. We both know that there have been days that you have made lemonade from the lemons you were given. (Nobody freak out - this is a figure of speech!) Of course I prefer to have limes so I can make margaritas! We have spoken on many occassions about the joys and frustrations that you have encountered. Rest assured that those of us who know respect everything that you have done to build the program at MTSU. As you transition the controls to a new person, this person needs to understand the ground you have covered and be ready to take it on down the road. We don't want the program to stop where it is or roll backwards! Good luck to you on finishing up at MTSU as a student & athlete! Happy Holidays!
  5. Hamm, We really need to keep Louise in the heat of things! She is bronze certified and has sat in the corner at Fargo on more than one occassion. I know that she would love to be involved in creating a Women's Team for Tennessee. Of course she will probably kill me volunteering her. I'm sure she knows the woman that you are referring to and would welcome her assistance! The down side to this is that there are so few that are interested, but if they (or families) are committed to make this happen - I know Louise would do everything within her power to put a team together. P.S. Pat Summitt is her idol!
  6. Hamm, you know some big guys over at MTSU - don't let Kenny just throw you around! I sure would like to see Kenny take it all in February. Bring in some guys other than you to let Kenny throw around! We don't need you getting hurt!
  7. Okay if any of you guys bring mud, why don't you take the effort to make jello instead! You all just need to get use to the fact that the Olympics now recognizes Women's Wrestling. Get over it! I support Hamm if he chooses to try to kick off a Women's Wrestling Tournament. Louise Davis is willing to coach a Women's team all the way to Fargo or further if there is any sincere interest. She would coach a Women's Team if there was a serious interest in such a team in TN. We all recognize that this has historically been a "man's" sport, so if you know any young women interested they need to express their interest and forward their information to s.louise.davis@comcast.net. Get a grip and accept Women's participation in the sport of Wrestling!
  8. I'm thinking that if we had an 'open' tournament of just coaches, officials & other alumuni wrestlers - it would be one heck of an event. You've got the Simpsons (coaches & officials), Logsdon, Connell, Miller, Gallagher, Welder, Peck, Jordan, Badon, Delgado, Holmes, Deaton, Marable - come on how many out there could you name to be in such an event?
  9. Oh how tragic! Please let the family know that many TN wrestling families will be thinking and praying for a speedy recovery! Let us know how to send cards to this young wrestler if you can.
  10. TN is proud of Jaeckel - he is our very own triple crown winner!
  11. Coach Badon posted results on TWF's message board.
  12. If you were to open it up nationally, you could possible get girls in from Texas and Oklahoma. I know there is a young girl in OK that has traveled to TN to wrestle for various girl related events. Texas has a girls team. It would also encourage the girls we have in TN to compete with other girls.
  13. Hamm - I know you have busted your butt on MTSU! We have talked many times about the joys and frustrations associated with your efforts. I just want MTSU to really pull the club together and be organized. I have not seen any other college level club or team posting about practices on the website, these should be well documented and distributed to the appropriate folks. MTSU has so many things available to really build a successful program. You have done a great job over the last four years! I know it is hard to turn loose, I'm having to learn how to do that myself. I would never be qualified to lead MTSU's Club - I'm not a coach or official or athlete - but, I would always be willing to help out as most parents do in concessions, mat tables, head table, hospitality, assist with transportation, arrange accomodations, etc.
  14. HAMM - None of this is directed at you personally! Let it go! A little organization would go a long way to get fans involved in helping MTSU either run events, fund expenses, etc. If the guys need to know when & where for practice, encourage them to email you rather than post it on this board. Yes, I know it is two guys, but it still puts out the perception that there is no communication at MTSU. I'm not asking you to 'BABY' anyone. Get off that horse! As far as helping you out, hmm I've been more than willing to carry MTSU wrestlers to out of state events in previous years, help you find hotel rooms, assist in running events, etc. - no one has yet to take me up on the offer. If you would post your schedule on this site or TWF, I would come to some of your events. I enjoyed watching the twins in high school and would enjoy seeing them again on the mats. So you need to get off that horse as well! You are a great guy - but someone needs to step up and carry on, take it to the next level, whatever!
  15. Will there be rankings posted on TWF this week?
  16. Bottom line HAMM - I am an adult that would help your program any day of the week & I am not a student at MTSU! I know there is a significant number of wrestlers attending school at MTSU and I have seen the facilities available on campus. It is frustrating to say that I think MTSU has a program - yet every other day someone is coming on this board wanting to know when and where for practice. I know you are no longer the leader, but the image that is being shown by this common question is poor organization. Yes, I do know that you and some of the guys are working with other HS teams. Not a big deal nor is it a news flash! You know what, I'm not working out and that is my choice! (Okay, now there are going to be lots of wise cracks now from those who know me!) And I don't want you or any of those other guys holding my hand, I don't even like coaches or officials trying to hold my hand! I'm not a wrestler, I'm a fan - get a grip on yourself! In regard to the expenses - welcome to the sport of wrestling. This sport is usually the one that gets fundings cut first, regardless of what level of school you are associated with. There are folks here in middle TN that would be willing to help and support your team, if it appeared structured and organized. I've been around enough to know more than you think! You should not take this so personal! As you have stated you are no longer the leader and you are not responsible for it - let it go! Queen of Tacky! I call the way I see it!
  17. Yes "Mommy Dearest" is keeping an eye on you! Ha ha ha
  18. Had a phone calls this evening from Ga... Sounds like our guys are all weighed in and ready to rumble. There is some issue about some teams driving in from a VA event today that may not make weigh ins and GA is going to accept their weights from the VA event. Wonder how many of those kids are eating all the way to GA and will be over the weight limits and allowed to wrestle at lower wt class? Any one with more details on this, would love to hear more on how they are handling it!
  19. We all know I do 'tacky' very well - the question of when & where practices are at MTSU seems to be a pretty common question. When is MTSU going to get organized to where all the guys interested in participating know when & where without having to post the question for every one to see how disorganized MTSU really is? Come on MTSU - you have enough wrestlers to put a program together and be competitive! You have new mats and a great rec center on campus, ability to send mass communication to all MTSU students - PULL IT TOGETHER!
  20. Way to go Al! I love seeing events specific to the Freshman during the year. These kids are usually sitting back behind Jrs & Srs on the varsity slots. We need to see more tournaments specific to Fresh & JV athletes. This makes all our programs across the state stronger & deeper with talent. Jose & Pummel - please be nice - It's Christmas! Merry Christmas to all and hope all your wrestling dreams come true....
  21. I also agree with 'petersonsam' on the conditioning. This use to be one of the primary issues in the Franklin Gym. Several wrestlers will state that if you are conditioned correctly and take the opponent to the third, then blow them away in technique. I sure hope the rebels are still running regularly, otherwise they may come up sucking for air. I know a few boys that use to go to practice daily and then running 3-5 miles three days a week, wonder how many are doing that this year....
  22. This is so TRUE and it applies to several of the better programs across the state! The issue with the new weight ruling is also critical to keep the guys in the line up correctly. One typo before regions and your team could be in trouble.
  23. Kenny scaring guys to death! I had to crack up on that one. I can just imagine him walking around flexing around a bunch of young guys. He is a good kid and I'm really proud of him signing with UCO, they have a great program. I've had a great time watching him come up through the ranks over the last few years. Kenny if you are reading this, you flex all you want! Wrestle your heart out and make all of us in TN proud of you when you hit the trail to OK!
