  1. WOW!!! Looks like Tyner is going to be real strong this year. Is Tyner going to scrimmage A-E again this fall? If so, when and where?
  2. Oh what a difference a year can make!!! It's good to see some good press coming from the Roadrunners during the offseason for a change. Congratulations to all five young men! Remember who you are and whose you are! Never forget that you represent Austin-East Magnet High School. Make us proud of you!!! Congratulations to Coach Graham for this great accomplishment. This is only the beginning of the many great things to come for the Roadrunner football program Always proud to be a Roadrunner!!!
  3. Either Austin-East, Catholic, or Fulton will win Region 2-3A and one of these three will be the state champ! Will Stone Memorial, the new school that has been added to Region 2-3A, be playing a varsity schedule this year?
  4. Central's Jaime Wilson is going to be a special player. I've seen this kid develop through the pee-wee leagues and he has gotten better and better. I believe he'll walk away with the KFL's Sophomore of the Year award.
  5. Not so fast! Yes, the Roadrunners did have their share of troubles last season. It seemed that they were never able to completely gel as a team. They had a more inexperienced team than we are usually accustomed to and it really showed at times. Even with that they tied for 2nd place in region 2-3A and only lost by three points to the eventual state champs, Livingston Academy, in the second round of the playoffs. BUT, that was last year! We return a lot of key players from last year's squad and they have looked pretty good this spring! Don't count us out just yet. The Roadrunners should still be considered a legitimate contender for the state championship. I believe they will prove all the doubters wrong this season!!! Go Roadrunners!!!
  6. First of all, congratulation to North Side! You have a very fine team! This game was a very hard fought but sloppy game that could have went either way. This just wasn't the Lady Roadrunners day. If you look at the statistics you'll see that neither team played that great. We didn't shoot the ball very well at all and that was the real difference in the game. We came out west for a holiday tournament this year and won it. We were the only team there from the east and we won. I don't think that East TN basketball is superior to West TN basketball but, neither is West TN to Middle or East TN.
  7. I don't know why we seem to get matched up with the best from the West EVERY year but, If you want to be the best you've got to beat the best! Don't hate on us because we lost in the first round!!! We lost to the team that will probably be the state champs. I may be biased but, I do think that Jackson North Side and Austin-East are the best two teams in the state. It just so happens that the best two teams in the state met in the first round instead of the championship. I hate we lost but, we had another awesome season AND WE WILL BE BACK!!! We only lose one starter from this team and return the nucleus of our bench as well as a strong incoming Freshman class. Lady Runners I am very proud of you!!!
  8. The Lady Roadrunners have a very good Freshman class coming in. Their Middle School team only lost one game this season and that one was in the post-season tournament! I think that the road may continue to run through the Austin-East Lady Roadrunners even after Marsh and Goss graduate!!! Beep Beep!!!
  9. Seymour and Austin-East are both very good teams! Seymour has an inside/outside game than can be lethal. What can I say about the Lady Roadrunners, last year's state runner-ups? This team may be even better than last years team. The team returns four starters from last year's team and can bring at least five off the bench and keep going strong. Pay no attention to the loss at Brainerd. That game was not even indicative of how good this team is (in fact, we beat Brainerd by 17 in December). Actually the loss may have been a blessing in disguise!!!
  10. The final score was 87 - 38 Lady Roadrunners - Go, Fight, Hustle, WIN!!!
  11. I like your picks!!! If the Lady Roadrunners continue to play like they did last night, they're going to be very hard to handle!!! Go Lady Roadrunners!!!
  12. As much as I hate to admit this, another team to look out for is the Fulton Lady Falcons. They will return Portia Bishop, the District 3AA MVP, and this year's strong Freshman class.
  13. The Austin-East Lady Roadrunners will once again be a force to be reckoned with next year. They will only lose one starter to graduation. There are three more seniors but, only two of them see significant playing time. They will return to their starting lineup the backcourt tandem of Shy Marsh and Lakrystle Goss along with (F-G) Brittany Allen and (PF-P) Tiffanie Isom. They will probably start 6'2" Jassmine Robinson at Post. They will have a loaded bench with the return of this season's Freshman squad and next year's incoming Freshman players, many of whom will be coming in from Vine Middle School's girls team that had an impressive 14-1 record this year.
  14. Brainerd was clearly the better team last night and should get significantly better when Courtney McDuffie becomes eligible (transfer). Congratulations to the Brainerd Coaching Staff! Will she be eligible before this season is over? If so, how is that possible?
  15. This was definitely an upset! Austin-East beat Brainerd by 17 when we played them the first time this season. I wasn't at this game but, I can assure you that the Austin-East Lady Roadrunners are a much better team than what they showed on Saturday night!!! They'll be alright and I agree with you Turtle, I wouldn't want to be in Kingston's position on Tuesday night!!!
  16. Austin-East beat Bearden, the second ranked team in AAA, last night!!! The Roadrunners are a legitimate contender for the gold ball.
  17. Bearden's guards are very good and Demonte Simpson is going to be a great player but, tonight was the Roadrunners' night! Roadrunners win 67 - 62 !!!
  18. It appears that the East Tennessee teams get no respect from the rest of the state. I can't speak for McMinn Central or Unicoi County (Sycamore is actually a Middle Tennessee team) but, Austin-East is for real. We play in one of the toughest districts in East Tennessee (it includes perennial state tournament teams Fulton and Alcoa). Year in and year out we play a tough non-conference schedule which includes a trip to a highly competitive holiday tournament (this year we went to the Dyersburg tournament and last year we went to the Poplar Bluff, MO tournament and played against the host school, Poplar Bluff High School, and their star player, Tyler Hansborough, who is now a standout player at UNC). This year at the Dyersburg tournament we played Liberty(in the semi-finals), one of the teams that is being picked to possibly win it all, and lost by two points. We should have won the game but we missed more than enough free throws to win. Bolivar has beaten Liberty by only 4 and 1 point respectively in each of the two games they have played so far. Seems to me that these three teams (Austin-East, Liberty, and Bolivar) are very close to each other in terms of their talent level. Bolivar, Liberty, and Mitchell all have excellent programs but, to say that Austin-East doesn't play the same caliber competition, doesn't have as much talent, and isn't good enough to make it to the state and have any chance at beating these teams is a bit much. Austin-East is continuing to improve every game and will be very dangerous come tournament time. I think they are the sleeper in AA. If you continue to underestimate them they are going to shock you come March!!! Go Roadrunners !!!
  19. This should be a great game! Bearden's great guards vs. A-E's fantastic front line. I think it will come down to which team makes the least turnovers and controls the boards. This could be another classic!!! Go Roadrunners !!!
  20. You're absolutely right! Better bring your A game!!! They ARE even better than last years State Runner-up team! What's even scarier than that is the fact that the Lady Roadrunners only have FOUR seniors on the team and out of that four only ONE is a starter! The starting guards have two more years!!! It doesn't stop there. The middle school that is the main feeder school to Austin-East has a girls basketball team that is currently undefeated. Looks like the Lady Roadrunners will be able to quickly replace this year's seniors with some quality freshman players and continue to be a dominate force in AA for the next several years. Go Lady Roadrunners!!!
  21. Great game Roadrunners!!! Continue to play hard. I believe some great things are in store for this team!!! This team is peaking at the right time and will make a strong run in the post-season. The Roadrunners are team that NOBODY will want to play come tournament time!!! Go Roadrunners!!!

  24. It was a very good game even though we loss. The Lady Roadrunners played good for most of the game. They seemed to get frustrated toward the end of the game when all the "madness" was going on. I agree missed free throws didn't help our cause. However, I do feel that the Lady Mountaineers benefitted from some very questionable officiating in the last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. It's almost like the refs got intimidated by the Heritage crowd after Cait's injury and wouldn't call anything against them. Cait is a great player and I hope that her injury isn't real serious. Good luck to Heritage for the rest of the season! If Cait's injury is serious, you're going to need it!!!
  25. Congratulations to Coach Stevens and the Oak Ridge Wildcats!!! You have proven your doubters wrong! Bring the gold ball back to East Tennessee!!!
