  1. GovMan, Obviously you have better sources than I do. One thing for sure, GQ isn't going to @@@@ up many frequent flyer miles taking these plane trips to Greeneville and Knoxville.
  2. My sources tell me that a wealthy Knoxville Business College alum had GQ flown to Knoxville in his private plane to talk about starting a football program there. He would have all the resources he wanted to build from the ground up. He was seen boarding the plane at McGhee-Tyson and arriving at Island Home airport 4 minutes later.
  3. I'm an Alcoa fan and I find it hard to believe that a Goodpasture player did something like that. As we all know, it's easy to start a rumor on a board and others will react to it without having any actual knowlege of the event. Alcoa fans will remember that a lot of untrue or misleading things were said about Alcoa players last year. Remember how often some posters said that Alcoa had "thugs" on their team? We knew it wasn't true. What I've seen of the behaviour of the Goodpasture team makes me think that things didn't happen exactly like the poster said it did.
  4. A few Alcoa posters may seem overconfident, but don't think that the Alcoa team and most Alcoa fans are overconfident. It is obvious that Goodpasture is a better team this year and I think it will be a much tougher game than last year.
  5. I have no doubt that Goodpasture has improved greatly from last year. That was a young team last year and it showed early in the game. I have a feeling that this game will be much closer if GP can run the ball and control the clock. If they are forced to pass, they will be in trouble. All of us Alcoa fans remember the drubbing we took from David Lipscomb in 2003 and how we came and dominated DL in 2004. A year can make a big difference. This should be a good game if both teams make it to the final.
  6. Alcoa usually brings alot of fans. I'm coming from Virginia for this game and I hope to be traveling I-40 west to the 'Boro again next week. I lived in Alcoa for 35 years and have followed Tornado football through the good, bad and ugly - mostly good! Nothing like Friday Night Lights and I know that Smith County fans feel the same way. Best to both teams.
  7. Alcoa and Brentwood Academy played for 2A championship after your game. The sun was going down when the game started and whatever ice you guys chipped off had frozen back by the time we got there. Lots of people were spending the game in the first aid stations. Vanderbilt Stadium, with all those aluminum seats, was like a giant walk-in freezer. I think the temperature was around 10 degrees with a hellacious wind chill factor.
  8. Maryville leads34-7 near the end of the 3rd.
  9. Alcoa smoked Fulton last year and based on what they've accomplished thus far this year and the previous two years they have got to be the favorite to win this game. I'm still going to take Fulton to win. Those two defensive tackles are gigantic and it will be awfully tough for Alcoa to block either of them. If the Falcons can prevent Lanxter from killing them with big plays and run the football with Rogan I don't think they'll lose this one. Falcons WIN!!!! If Fulton can't pass the ball some , they won't win. Alcoa has a much more balanced offense with multiple threats in the passing and running game.
  10. Brandon really contributed in very big game. The quarterback made a bad throw on one play where Brandon was wide open and had some room to run. Also, I didn't see him miss any blocks.
  11. Is this game being carried on the radio? Keep us updated on the score.
  12. Thanks Coalman. I' m going to be in town from Virginia, so I'll get an early look at the Tornadoes.
  13. Is the scrimmage at the Oak Ridge practice field and is it still scheduled for 4:00 pm?
