Leading scorer for DC 2ND ON TEAM IN REBOUNDS, STEALS, AND ASSIST. Team is currently ranked 2nd in state AP polls. has eight d-1 offers and expected to receive others. Leader on and off the court, demands a double team, and must be picked up from half court. Blake has scored 1000pt's in a season and a half. Could have more ,but is on a team that has six players averaging double figures. Quiet and respectable off the court, but a terror on the court to opposing teams, demanding a box and one defense against him every game.

MJ Brown is a victim of area location ... just as Blake from Dyer Co., Geanes from Lake Co., Williams from Culleoka, and several other rural area players. I've seen several summer league AAU games with players from the Memphis and Nashville Metro areas of which alot of these kids are getting good offers from all over the country.Most D-1 colleges hear the big names out of these cities... so it is not until state tournament play that rural talent is seen.Like Josh Sain from liberty last year. MJ Brown is every bit as good if not better than most pg's in the state. He can play with the best high school guards in the nation.YOU CAN TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT. My take on the subject is this. BTW should have won in the sub-state last year against DC, because BTW was the better team. I saw too many times were guards would try to force the issue and offset Blake.When he shot a deep three they would do the same instead of going to the post.So BTW LOST A 10 point lead in a couple minutes and got sent home.This year DC is more complete as a team, they have 6 players averaging in double figures. DC will press you and speed the tempo up to take big low post guys out of the game. They don't turn the ball over much for the amount of trips up and down the court.DC has an extremely deep bench, who can hold their own.It seems that they love to play defense ,which is unusual for high school kids. Mitchell has a whip down there, but they are just not disciplined enough. You don't beat a team by 20 then lose at home a week later to that same team.I think they are dangerous, but DC will exploit their flaws. Just my opinion. BTW and Mitchell had better both bring their A game when they bump heads in that region, because it is hard to come up to DC and win that sub-state game.Then the regional champs won't meet again til the state championship game if they both win out.

Pioneer, I know how you come to that assumption, about Vic being the best in District 13aa, but check this.Vic is good on the block in a half court set against the smaller players. He handles the ball ok for his height, and rebounds well also. But the cat is out of the bag, Vic guarded Blake the entire night.Blake ended the game with 29pts.Vic may had 12 pts, Blake stayed on the free throw line because Vic couldn't keep up.Blake only hit 3 shots from behind the arc.So the other 20pts came from penetration and free-throws.It was so bad that Mclin started stepping on Blake's feet to slow him down,then when that didn't work he would just foul.Now, I can't take anything away from Mclin because he can play, but in the system that he is in without a true point guard it is too much on him.I was blessed to play summer b/ball with Penny Hardaway and he was the only player I've played who could handle running point and posting up in an entire game.Dyersburg had Vic attempting to run point therefore his ball handeling was exposed.

The starting boys are not all new they have just gotten taller and better. They have one new boy that came in this year from Covington. The starting 5 are R. Hubb (his dad is the assis. coach and was there last year in the 6th grade), C. Fisk (he was there last year and grew many inches), J. Ahmad (he was there last year in the 6th grade and is j.blake's baby brother), f.yarbrough (transfer in from covington), and w. martin (he was also there last year). They are growing and improving. As far as the future of DC, I think that it is very bright. They are children that have been on a winning streak and no matter what people may THINK- they are children that play the game and the adults are the ones that are doing the arguing.

Last night was ugly.Dyer Co. played several bench players in the second quarter and was winning at the half 70 to twenty. The starters played two minutes in the third and never saw the court again. It was the same way in the Ripley and southside game. dc vs ripley 94 to 49 and dc vs southside 98 to 57. As for the schedule, dc has to play the teams in there district.... that's the rule.... can't help they're weak.They will be tested at the Christmas tournaments the 19th thru 21rst and 27th thru 29th . Three of the best teams out of KENTUCKY AND NORTH-CAROLINA are supposed to be in those same two tournaments one in Cookeville and the other in RUSSELVILLE,KY.

What was up this weekend with AAU tournament at Bishop Byrns High.The Memphis War eagles ended up playing the Memphis Grizzlies and won by 15 in the championship game.I personaly was looking forward to a more interesting tournament.Justin Blake, Leslie McDonald,and Hall seemed to be a little too much for the Mid-State Ballerz older boys and they are all 16yold.
