  1. Technically only ISS in elementary schools.
  2. Well, based on your last post where you stated that you played with whoever walked through the door, I though you might be up for a bit of a stretch. But, in fairness, you are talking population and failing to mention that it is an all boys institution. You asked how it gets done, with money, just like anything else...and no, I am not talking about paying football players, and I am not under the impression that anything shady goes on based upon the fact that you are playing in a Division that offers financial aid. However, do not be naive enough to believe that there aren't calls that are made based on analysis at camps, DI combines, youth league football, alumni that is spread out all over the place...this is not the place to reveal specific examples, but I could. So, based on the statement that you take who walks through the door, I could take last year's roster and they would all be within a 20 mile radius of the school (or better yet, no one would be coming from a public middle school). You tell me, what goes on...exactly.
  3. All one has to do is read that one bold statement, and your logic goes straight out the window...I can't believe you buried yourself with that line...oh well, it keeps us from having to address all of the other fallicies. But I can't help but address one statement...you have a list of public schools there...anyone want to tell me what they all have in common...they either have large populations or are loaded with talent. They play you because they can actually win...but it goes back to rationale...I completely disagree in principal with the statement that you would rather lose than not even try. I would rather win and try...against level competition...is Hilssboro v MBA level, yep. Is Macon County v Pope John Paul level, not by any stretch. Is Moeller v MBA level, yep (because you can have 200 in your school if they are all studs)...do me a favor, rent 300 and do the math.
  4. It really is a choice of rational...Hillsboro knew that they could play with MBA for a two year series and went with it...that is a rational decision, and I also think it will be a great game this year.
  5. Interesting stuff...obviously not really viable for the here and now, but nontheless very interesting (and like you it would be neat to see the ink that prohibits it).
  6. Now, Now, I wouldn't go calling people the "rule" without some knowledge of whom you are speaking to. If Coach Rector does that, then more power to him (what was that record last year with that top notch schedule and how deep did they travel into the playoffs). By the way, this is not a Ravenwood bashing post, I just took offense to your comparing a choice to not play somoeone on a level playing field as "not even trying". How many DIII college teams is MBA lining up on their schedule...before you dismiss the comment as ludicrous (and full well knowing you would never count it as credible), consider the hypothetical. Coaches in DII would not put their players on the field against a small college because it would not be level...you know it and I know it (and don't go to the "age" card). Teams I have represented have competed rather successfully for many years on many levels. We are not hiding from anyone, we are just judicial about who we line up across from. That's why you don't see 1A teams taking on 5A teams (unless it was CPA and Riverdale-oops, bad example).
  7. Here we go again (and I will bite)...DII is unique and you make that choice by allowing financial aid. You don't need to rehash the whole privates vs. open zone schools for me either, because although there is a case to be made that open zone schools have privileges, it is usually relegated to a tighter geographic spectrum. Here's where I might surprise you...I have no problem with the MBAs, BAs, Ensworth, and other DII programs because they are forthright in playing within the constistutes of divison II (they play other teams that provide assistance)...but I heard an earlier argument about cost in reference to longer road trips...you guys make some valid points at times but don't go down that road in trying to convince the throng that you don't have the money to travel...that is demeaning my intelligence (this was in reference to another poster). Again, I am okay with the whole thing until you say that we are "not trying" because we choose not to play. We have an obligation to our kids to play the competition within our regions, our rivals outside the region, and if there are slots remaining then it makes sense to play a team that you are capable of beating in case of overall record coming into a tiebreaker scenario (and it does happen quite often). I, for one, would place common sense into your earlier statement. It is better to provide your kids the best opportunity to experience a win, rather than get clobbered (which is better than not trying, but I will take option 1 any time I am given it).
  8. Why would one start a thread asking the opinion of others that wouldn't know near as much about the team that one posts about 95% of the time? You tell us...
  9. Franklin is the real deal in 08(then again, so is Hillsboro)...Vandy should have a dandy on their hands in this opener
  10. Clarification: DI Closed Zoned Public Programs go up and down.
  11. 1A: SPitt v Union City (sleeper) SPitt repeats 2A: Until something changes: Alcoa v (Goodpasture or another ABC) Alcoa X5 3A: White House/Catholic winner v Lipscomb (East side wins) 4A: Can't make unbiased pick, Henry County sure does return a lot from the west, and I can't think of any solid team in the east (joke, Maryville throng, joke). 5A: Dobyns Bennet finally gets past the second round v pick a hot team out of Region 6 (um, let's say Brentwood High)...DB wins an elusive state title (I have no idea what they have returning, just saw that they were young and believe that finally Region 4 might be a tad weaker-although it wouldn't shock me a bit to see Riverdale or Wilson Central)...by the way, throw Cookeville in as a dark horse. M. Christmas
  12. No problem, your wife has a great birthday partner!
  13. Out...2 Hillsboro, at least until the quarters this yr.
  14. You could have left off "mates" or "coach" and used "Christ" in the header box...that's a better choice for me.
  15. Karma stinks doesn't it, hoss! Let's see you take your own advice now...even as I type these words there are Hillsboro fans on another thread complaining about the officiating. Thank you Maplewood (from all of us that enjoy class in Middle Tennessee).

    Seriously?

Bring it to light, so that coupled with several other "mistakes", the great change could be at hand sooner than later. There is nothing fair about this, and I finally found some people steaming on the WB thread, as well they should. If you belong in those regions affected, this is nothing short of ridiculous, and there is NO good reason why it couldn't wait at least to a reclassifying year, so that with changes it doesn't absolutely put the screws to as many teams.

    Seriously?

I thought that this was surely a screw up on the site, but was informed that there was a meeting to change the home sites for the semi finals in a non classification year. I cannot believe there are not a lot of STEAMING MAD people over this...how can it be fair to sit around a table and make a change that can ultimately put a team in or out of a state championship game. I would think that 1/2 of the people represented in the playoffs would be hot and the other 1/2 would be trying to hide a grin. What is the deal, and how many more of the decisions can continue to be made without repercussion? Maybe I missed something, but this seems awfully quiet...
  18. Me too, but 104.5 flipped the score the last time and then came back and said they were not sure...
