I agree also, Tate is a great player on a good team. I am tired of the Bashing He gets and the team gets. You dont see anybody bashing Miller, Rickway or Ingram. I posted all their Points and Their Teams total Points and percentage. Looks Like other Midstate teams have scoring stars also. I dont see anyone asking wich of these teams or players is harder to stop. I dont think you will see Riverdale, Friendship or Columbia Acad falling out of the picture in the next few years So don't expect Pope to fade away just because Tate moves on. JPII wins by 10 or less Why?............ For Franklin Co. it does mean their only shot at a .500 season so they may have an advantage there.....but.... This game Really means nothing to both teams. Other than the "Joy of Victory or the Agony of defeat" Its just a primer for the last region game they both will play. JPII is in the Playoffs at the 3rd spot, They can't move up or down in position. Franklin Co. has the 4th spot tied up in their region. They also can't move up or move down in position. With One game left for both of these teams, I think you will see a whole bunch of new faces playing from both sides of field. On both offense and defense as these coaches look to fill gaps they might have before the playoffs. Look for JPII to score a lot of points early with the first team O and manage just enough defense to hold Franklin Co. to around 30 points. Dhack

ok your right on the lesser of 2 evils point that Financial Blackmail is not actually forcing someone to do something but it is a big club. Putting them all back into DivII would force some teams to spend large amounts on traveling across the state just to get (Regional...and I use that term Jokingly) games. If I was an AD and you told me I could play close to home and probably take a beating once in a while or spend half my budget on travel I would take the Beating. Secondly not all of Div II was given that option. DivII has become only the schools that give Aid. What would be next the Privates that don't give aid wanting a multiplier against the ones that do. Finally the main point. If a STATE RUN ORGANIZATION admits a school into that organization, Say the TSSAA DIVI, then it should treat all members equally. This was supposed to be a home Game for Webb. I'd have to say if they are going to do it again next year it must have been a mutual aggreement, wich is good since they both can save $$$. But $8000 to go from Knoxville to Memphis that is STEEP. I know you can get a bus for $1200 a day unlimited miles that hold 55s people. Meals for $1200. what all the extra expense?

It only take one lost court battle in any other state for the whole thing to go down the tubes. Its already been Ruled that the TSSAA is a state backed entity. That Happened on the US Supreme Court BA vs TSSAA case. And the Multiplier is a blatent descrimination against private schools. (its only used against them) Ergo the State of Tennessee is discriminating against private schools. Now since most people who send their kids to private school tend to Vote come election time. I dont think there is a State Rep that would want to get involved or be tied in supporting a discriminatory practice. Just too much bad press on something like that. Webb lost last year to JPII in the reg season and then beat them in the playoffs. I think that any good coach builds around what he has. I think Jeff brothers is a good coach. He will figure out a way to build around his teams strengths. Right Now Tate is a big part of the plan. He knows Tate will only be around 1 more year and I dont think JPII will drop off the face of the earth when he does. Here is why JPII will remain a force in what ever division they play. Jeff Brother Bio... Brothers began his coaching career at Brentwood Academy and in 1996 became Assistant Head football coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy. His team won the state football championship in 2000 with a 15-0 record. In four years at the school, Brothers had eight players signing Division I scholarships, while four were Mr. Football nominees and two were winners of that award. Dhack

It's not that bad even with eight teams. Only three weeks of playoffs 8-4-2 4 teams only gets them two weeks of games 4-2 with a bye between. As far as costs go.. each team gets 1/2 the gate. After TSSAA takes their cut, that should more than cover any travel expenses. If they are hitting you up for travel expenses before the game where are the gate $$$'s going? I'd be asking for a refund.

From what CoachT has listed on the schedule Webb is meeting St. Benedict half way @ Ensworth. I dont know what caused this. Maybe High Fuel prices. Maybe Benedict didnt feel it was worth the trip. Why Would Webb give up a home game? Anyone out there shed some light on this? Dhack

I think they Beat Rosemark by 10 squeak out a win with Bishop and lose a close one to FACS. #2 seed in Division.

Ok Here is how Div-2 Works straight from TSSAA site. http://tssaa.org/Handbook/football.pdf (See page3) All Div-2 will start with a 4 team bracket Then they will add any team that was won at least 50% of thier schedled games. In Div2 AAA you get in if you win 3 Div2-AAA games or 50% of the Scheduled games...so here you could acutally be 3-7 and still get in if your wins come in Div2-AAA Div2-AAA McCallie AAA 3-0 /5-2 MUS AAA 3-1 / 7-1 CBHS AAA 3-1 /7- 1 MBA AAA 2-1 / 6-2 Are in so far Div2-AA ECS AA 3-0 / 6-1 Knoxville Webb AA 3-0 / 6-1 In so far Div2-A Davidson Academy A 5-0 / 5-2 FACS A 5-1 / 6-1 Bishop Byrne A 5-1 / 6-1 Are in The Only Team to be Eliminated So far is "David Brainerd" All the rest of Div2 teams have a shot ....but some are longer than others.

To those that say Cut blocks should be illegal everywhere. I have a question. What about the defensive back that runs up and throws himself at a recievers or running back's legs. I have seen many a young man's game days ended because of this type of tackle. Especially if it comes in from the side. Is it a cut.. Of courses it is. Should it be illegal Now? Its Outside the tackle box. Maybe it is time to look at the rules with Kids getting bigger and faster it may be time to go back to Rugby type rules... No Tackling or Blocking below the belt, or at least not 3 yards past the line of scrimmage.

I thought Briarcrest could make it in with 1 more win.. Only need to win 50% of games scheduled. Or did the Jackson Academy, MS game not count towards the standings? I agree with FR asessment 5% chance at best. Think they can look back and see some positives for next year.

Father Ryan has 2 "HOME" Games left. One is at Vandy. Where is the Baylor game being played. How can a school expect to establish a consistant program when you dont play any home games? Are there any other teams with this problem? How do they make any money? How Long will this continue? Is there no hope for a deal with someone? As a Pope Fan I dont mind the fact that they will be coming to Hendersonville every year and I'm sure that everyone in Div II-AAA doesn't mind either. The TSSAA has placed the tag of Home game on a few of thier away games I guess to allow them some of the gate proceeds. But I'm sure the FR people aren't working the gates or running the concessions so i'm sure they didnt get a big piece of the pie. No matter what the TSSAA calls it an Away game is still that.... Away from Home field advantage.

I've never seen a coach not want to give the 2nd a chance if they can. It makes the Kids feel good, The parents enjoy it and underclassmen get much needed experience. Remember these are the kids holding the blocking dummies and running the scout teams. Without them being somewhat motivated by the chance they may get to play you dont get much turnout or quality work at practice. I don't think it really does any good padding your score unless it comes down to a far out tie breaker. Now I have seen coaches that have no chance of winning a game keep thier first team in even after the other team starts subbing. That sends a message to the second team that "Your just not worth it" and you might play when HFO. If your down or up by 21+ in the forth quarter you better start playing the JV's or you might not have much of a team return next year

As much as I hate to say it ECS does have the odds on thier side right now. I looked at a few posts on the Webb / Catholic game and 2 of webbs starters are out one bad ankle sprain 3rd degree (RB)(6 weeks) and one with dislocated shoulder (TE)(6-10 weeks). But as everyone knows the playoffs begin a new season and anything can happen.
