  1. Hey Govman, me and the professor were looking for you to join us for the broadcast. We brought you a headset, had it all hooked up, just waiting. We even mentioned how disappointed Starsandbars was going to be that you had not made it. Had the opportunity presented itself we were going to have you sing "turn out the lights" cause you certianly have a much more smooth and sultury voice than the professor or myself. Looking forward to Friday night. Always a blast at the home opener.
  2. TPoole12 WB's schedule for 2009 Week 0 at Sevier County Week 1 KARNS Week 2 BEARDEN Week 3 JEFFERSON COUNTY Week 4 at Catholic Week 5 at Heritage Week 6 WEST Week 7 Open Week 8 LENOIR CITY Week 9 at Maryville Week 10 at Farragut
  3. Congratulations to the entire WB staff and football team for your accomplishments to date. It has been absolutely the most fun I have ever had covering a football team. Certainly thanks to the head man, Coach Meadows. As I have told you before you are my hero. Thanks!!! One coach that has not been mentioned on here by name (or at least I haven't seen it) that deserves a tremendous amount of thanks is the amazing defensive coordinator, Coach Wilhite. 2 years running the Region 2 defensive coach of the year. The amount of energy and knowledge this guy has is unbelievable. The defense certainly has taken on the personality of the coordinator. These guys are dedicated, intense, and play with a passion that is unmatched by any defensive unit that I have seen all year. Coach Wilhite, thank you!!!! You promised me a TV interview in Murfreesborough. Thank you to all of the coaches for your hard work and dedication. You have put WB on the map. Good luck Friday night against Bearden. This year to date has been a fantastic ride. Thanks TVGov
  4. You missed your calling. You should have been an editor for a newspaper or magazine instead of a radio personality. Heaven forbid should you ever start trying to correct Starsnbars. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  5. Good luck to the Rebels!! Don't think you will have much problem Friday night. To much talent, and WAY to much coaching. Look forward to following your run to Murfreesboro. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. ET, that's why your my hero. You are so stinking smart. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  7. I stand corrected. The Professor led me down the wrong road. I will have to start calling Heather for my information. Have Fun!
  8. Owlfanatic Anytime you get into second round you have your hands full. Should WB get past Campbell County, I think everybody at WB understands that whomever the opponent is in the second round will be a difficult game be it Ooltewah or Bearden.
  9. Playoff time is always a lot of fun. For Ooletwah past history has shown the 4 seed from Region 2 is very capable of going on the road and getting a win. Ooltewah 2 years ago, WB last year. I think if a 4 seed is to win in class 5A it will be Ooltewah. I will go with Ooletwah in a minor (due to the seeding) upset in that game. OR on the road at DB. IMO DB is the team the team in both regions that nobody wanted to play. I think they are playing better than anyone in Region 1 at this particular point. I know that I am very glad to be opposite of Farragut and DB, as those two will play each other in round 2, as DB will knock off OR at home, and then have the very very difficult task of going to Farragut. Farragut will win over Jefferson County and WB will get a win in their first ever home playoff football game in round 1. Round 2. DB on the road at Farragut, and WB at home vs. Ooltewah. Just my opinion. Good luck to all the teams.
  10. Jethro The #1 seed from Region 2 will be home (should they win) for the 1st 2 rounds. Round 3, the Region 1 seed has home field advantage. So the question for WB fans is, do you think a brackett with Bearden, Campbell County, and Ooltewah, is a better brackett (having Campbell County at home, Bearden on the road, and then home for round 3, again asumming that you win) than being the #1 seed, and having Jefferson County at home, Farragut or Kingsport DB at home, and then Bearden on the road in round 3? The semi-finals for the region 1 2 winner is played on the road at the region 3 4 winner. link to the bracket www.tssaa.org/2007Champions/StateFootba ... racket.htm I'm not smart enough to where you can click on it and go there. I am computer illiterate
  11. WMTNTrojans The sign read, "Bradley, enjoy playing our Freshman". The insinuation being that Bradley was no good and that we could play our Freshmen and win. Bradley has had a difficult year, and to rub their noses in it is in my opinion in poor taste. There are times when jabbing at the other team is okay, but when a team is down and struggling is not one of them. With that being said, no one at William Blount intentionally said lets embarrass or disrepspect Bradley with our sign. I can assure you that these are good kids. I know each one of them personally (one better than the others). Remember the cheerleaders do not create the signs. There just was not alot of thought about the appearance of the sign before it was created.
  12. Jethro As I have found out since yesterday, the signs orginate and are created in the art department and not by the cheerleaders. I hope that this is the last of these types of signs. Someone needs to approve them before they go out in public. My daughter felt the need to apologize on behalf of the cheerleading squad, and if she has anything to do with it, it won't happen again. Thanks
  13. As a member of the William Blount Cheerleading squad, I would like to apologize for the run-through sign we displayed at the Bradley Central game. Some of the girls, including myself, did not see the sign until the game and even then we were running behind the football players with the flags. I am very sorry for the content of the sign. I do agree it was not appropriate and very disrespectful. Once again I am very sorry to the Bradley Central fans and also William Blount fans as well.
  14. As the parent of a cheerleader at WB, please accept my apology for the sign. I did not see it, nor do I know who was responsible for creating it. I can tell you that I will speak to the cheerleading sponser and express my displeasure. William Blount is better than that. I can remember WB"s 0-7 start like it was yesterday. Bradley played hard and worked their butts off. They were just overmatched. Again as a cheerleader parent, I apologize to all the Bradley Central football players, coaches, and parents.
  15. Thank you. I thought that was the case. I was just looking at the playoff brackets and wondered why region 3/4 was again home team for the semi-finals? I thought those rotated. Sorry for the intrusion onto your thread. I knew that you guys could answer my question. Good luck to the Owls. I do think you will handle Soddy Daisy. May be tougher than most would think, but I also believe that you can then come up to Knoxville and knock off Bearden. In fact, I think a tougher draw is our 3 seed(still undetermined) having to travel to Kingsport DB. I think they are playing better than Bearden at this point. Remember, it was a fluke 2 point conversion that beat DB when they played. Thank again.
  16. Question for an Owl fan. Last year in the playoffs, where did Ooltewah play Farragut and Symrna, at home or on the road? Thanks.
  17. Hunter You can find these on the TSSAA web page. It list all the different regions in all classifications. It also list points scored and points allowed. Farragut does stand a pretty good shot at winning the state. Alot of football left to play however. Farragut in a cake walk this Friday. Next Friday a little more difficult with Oak Ridge although you will be favored and should win. First round in the playoffs would be fairly straight forward as it stands now. Probably would play Jefferson County. Second round would start to get a little more interesting. Again, here's hoping to see Farragut in the semi-finals. WB has to take care of their own business first though. Win out (Bradley and Heritage). Play Campbell Co. first round of playoffs. Then possibly have to travel to Bearden. Certainly would not be an easy task. WB not afraid to go on the road an win playoff games however, as evidence by the trip to then #1 ranked Kingsport DB last year. Bearden would be a tough challenge. If we are fortunate to get through those, then we could worry about Farragut. Just tryin to get there first. Good luck to the Admirals, although as a Gov fan it would be nice to see Oak Ridge knock you guys off so we could win the region. Not betting the farm on that one though. TVGov
  18. One more point FHSfootball51, Farraguts defense ranks 35th out of 62 teams in 5A in points allowed. Again, WB ranks 7th. Offensive for Farragut ranks 2nd and WB's ranks 8th.
  19. Counterpoint. What makes you think that WB would not make some adjustments as well? And please tell me that the adjustments you spoke of Farragut making came after Ooltewah hung 41 on the Admirals. (WB held Ooltewah to 0). Farraguts defense is giving up 21.5 points a game. Gave up 24 to West, 28 to Bearden, 24 to McMinn, 35 to WB, and 41 to Ooltewah. You did hold Central and Bradley to 7 and only gave up 6 to Heritage. Granted your offense is ranked 2nd in the state in scoring at 38.62 points per game and WB is only ranked 8th with at 28.62 points. WB on the other hand has only given up 93 points, or 11.6 points per game. 36 of those to Farragut, and certainly to an outstanding running back in Sterling. Even with Sterling running for 300 yards and Farragut scoring 36, it came down to a failed 2 point conversion on WB's part, after Farragut scored on a 75+ yard run by Sterling with 42 seconds left in the game, and then allowed WB to go 65 yards to score in 32 seconds. So to say that WB fans are delusional is a little bit out there. Is Farragut tough? Sure. Will it be tough to beat them? Sure. Can they be beat? Sure. (McMinn Co.) Can WB beat them? Sure. Will they? Don't know. I hope we are still around though and have that opportunity. It would be alot of fun.
  20. Very well said papa The game absolutely represented all that is good about high school athletics. My congratulations to both teams. Both play their ever lovin hind ends off. Both threw their best punches and took the other teams best punches and stood toe to toe with each other the entire night. Neither team backing down one inch. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! Both coaching staffs are to be congratulated on having their teams ready to play. Year in year out this is what is expected of Maryville, and certainly Quarles and his staff are tremendous. But, Coach Meadows and his staff of terrific coaches have built a belief among the kids and the community at William Blount that they to can do great things on the football fied. We are extremely proud of all those guys, and would not trade them for anything or anyone. My congratulations to both sets of fans and supporters. With over 11,000 in attendance, it was awesome to see the school support shown by both sides. Were there a few isolated incidents, sure, from both sides. But for the majority it was a fantastic evening of high school football. To Ben. Ben we love you and are very proud of you. We have a lot of confidence in you that the next kick, and the kick after that, and when the game is on the line, YOU WILL KNOCK IT THROUGH. To all the guys from William Blount, take from this game the fact that you took to best to the finish, gave them all they wanted and then some. YOU CAN win Region 2-5A, and YOU CAN make it Murfreesboro. To all the guys from Maryville. Certainly, you prove time and time again why you are 50-0 and 99-2 over the last 101. You to can make plans for Murfreesboro yet again. To both teams, thanks for putting on a show for all of us in Blount County to enjoy and for giving us a game to talk about for years to come. For this 46 year old man, it was the best high school football game that I have ever had the opportunity to witness. Thanks Mike Treadway BCS-TV
  21. My biggest concern is the health of TJ. Without him the Govs ability to pressure the QB is diminished somewhat, although last week I thought #3 filled in well. #40 on the other defensive end has been solid all year long. Very impressed. #20 gets all the accalades, but #40 is no slouch. Linebackers are solid. Secondary getting more and more comfortable every week. My second concern is the kicking game (minus the punt game). Whitehead is a terrific punter, no worries there. Place kicking has got to get more consistent. Case in point, against DB place kicker goes 3 for 3 on extra points and adds a 30 something yard field goal. At Soddy Daisy last week place kicker was 1 for 3 on extra points. WB tried for 2 on the other 2 TD's. That is a concern, especially against quality opponents such as the Owls, Farragut, Maryville, Oak Ridge. Kicking game is huge. Offensively we need to cut down on mistakes and be able to finish off drives. Although in 3 games we are averageing 27.3. could have been a lot more. Experienced QB, excellent running back and wide receivers. O-line is starting to gel, and will only get better. Should be a great game! Really looking forward to it. Fun to see Region 2 5A ranked 2 thru 5. After the open date this week, WB's next 4 games include Oooltewah, Maryville, Farragut, and Oak Ridge. At least 3 out of the 4 are at WB. Should be a great place to watch high school football over the next several weeks.
  22. FBE, forgive me for inserting my 2 cents worth (coming from me probably worth less than a penny), I too am uncomfortable with Burstrom going both ways. Hopefully, as the season moves on, we will see one of the younger guys mature into that position. I think the coaching staff believes at this very minute, that is what gives them the best opportunity to win football games. In talking with them, ideally he would be on the sideline when WB is on defense.
  23. If that wasn't you #1 QB let me change my last statement. Baylor should have a whole lot of fun! Good luck. Always fun to keep track of teams you have seen. Certainly will keep up with Baylor.
  24. I was at the scrimmage last Saturday covering William Blount. The running back of which you speak will be very good. Baylor moved the better against William Blount better than the other 2 teams. The play in which he scored, he ran past the safety (2nd team) who had taken several steps forward. QB hit him in stride for a touchdown. The penalty was away from the ball and had no bearing on the play. Baylor looked good. Should be a fun year. QB very athletic.
