  1. What Gerald Riggs did for UT tonight was absolutely incredible. Tom Santi had a 46 yard TD catch for UVA against Duke. Ingle Martin threw 3 TD's and ran for another in a 44-41 Furman victory. Austin Rogers, true freshman from David Lipscomb, was in during the 3rd quarter in a three receiver set and then again on a four receiver set. Ryan Karl made a couple tackles and was near the ball every time on kickoffs. True freshman Bryant Hahnfeldt keeps adding to the special teams consistency at Vandy, a 48 yard punt is a good thing to see from a Vandy fan. Antonio Heffner from Melrose at South Carolina racked up some quality yards rushing and passing this past weekend after Mitchell came out. Spurrier will do wonders with an athlete like him. Willie Hudgens broke his leg and leaves Memphis without top two qb's. I never remember hearing anything about him coming out of Ridgeway but he was apparently quite good. Also, what kind of stats did Jeff Jennings and Cassen Jackson Garrison rack up in high school?
  2. "aaron bateman is going to make a statement this game. HES CRAZY" everyone at mba knows bateman is crazy. his lateral movement when running the ball is quite lacking, and mba won't let him run up the middle. i don't think bateman gains any yardage. there are some backs and lineman that are looking forward to getting after bateman. he will be neutralized in this game. blair is the key to ryan's chances here. hausmen needs another game like the Franklin matchup for ryan to pull it off, which they can if they don't kill themselves with turnovers.
  3. a really good time to be a fan/alum of D2 schools....mccallie took alcoa and their ut running back and florida state tight end to the end, mus is doing what riverdale has been doing, mba is mba, cbhs has straight balled against some "powerhouse" memphis schools, jpII and ryan are definately good football teams as is briarcrest, oh yeah and baylor has a future hall of fame offensive lineman as head of football operations..talk about a school with a bright future. when ensworth gets rolling, D2 games may start getting picked up on ESPN Gameplan
  4. one example comes to mind when people start wondering what mba is going to do when confronted with a "gamebreaker" player such as golden tate, that's when mba went to southaven my junior year and came back with a 45-13 win. the back everyone was worrying about was greg hinds who had offers from michigan, ut, ole miss and whoever else you can think of(he plays for memphis)....hinds finished with a td but koban had 4 rushing tds and over 150 yards rushing in the FIRST HALF. their offense was thrown off track and their ball carriers were bombarded with hits from all sides. mba always wins by defense and taking advantage of mistakes(besides the days of ingle).....sounds like that has happened the past two weeks. good stuff
  5. frhs keeps beating all these big public schools, good for D2 and good for them.
  6. hah i love how BA fans still won't accept the Halloween robbery of MBA's #9 national ranking. if that game had happened as it should have, MBA would have finished no lower than #5 in the polls, what D2 fan would not want that for any team in the league...oh yeah, BA fans, holier than thou, tsk tsk. i think ensworth only sent two kids to mba this year after 8th grade which is fine by me as an mba grad. that trend will definately continue and probably make its way down to zero. ba will have it varsity players in sweat suits at halftime.
  7. I honestly don't think you can say JPII is in the stratosphere as MBA, BA, or MUS right now. MBA will win big. I expect Golden Tate to give Howe trouble getting the ball to Phipps and Carney but from top to bottom MBA is far too strong. Andy Snyder has a shot at 200 yards here.
  8. mccallie is sound. they'll win by 12 and beat baylor next week by 20.
  9. the alcoa vs mccallie game is a fantastic idea. mccallie is solid and alcoa seems to play to their opponents level. dustin lindsey and warren are both stars and mccallie plays really solid football and has a good crop of players. coach kemp gets his backs just as ready as his lacrosse ones, mccallie will provide a huge test for alcoa.
  10. props to carver for playing and hanging in there with one of the premiere teams in the southeast the past three years. there's no drop off in speed when it comes to memphis and the mississippi border;
  11. do fred sparkman(columbia) and adarius bowman(notre dame) still have futures at North Carolina? i haven't heard anything on them in a long time
  12. -patrick turner caught a td pass from booty last night and had another catch to boot. the fact that he plays as a true freshman is simply amazing -bryant hahnfeldt has been a huge step up in the special teams field for vandy -moses oswemegie is one of the best playmakers in the country -tom santi had the first touchdown of the season for virginia this year -a southern conference game between samford and furman saw two rival qbs opposing each other as ingle martin and jefferson adcock produced close to 500 yards passing, 350 came from adcock -chris taylor out of cordova had 176 yards sharing carries with another senior for the hoosiers -carl stewart from maryville had a td run and 50 yards to go with it for auburn -is either ryan karl or david holbert playing much so far for the vols?

    MBA / CPA

wesvols writes "what controversy?" it really is disgusting that all you ba, holier than thou, folks still acknowledge that win as a true victory.....that alone serves as the basis as why i hate your school so much. i wish nothing but the worst of luck to everyone on the entire ba football team.
  14. after a long long long long long night i got a call from someone saying frhs beat fhs.....i honestly couldn't believe what i heard. what an amazing accomplishment for father ryan and lussier, truly one of the best upsets in middle tn in the past five years. good job father ryan. as i said, ryan blair will fit perfectly as a qb in ANY system. division II is just superior football, and there's really not that much recruiting going on besides baylor and mccallie.....it's all about the coaching.
  15. will ryan blair get any action at qb? franklin will make cory stewart quit on the first play, i've seen him do it before against a hard hitting team. it may not be just the assistant coaches, ryan has some assistants with experience in the sec and such. their jv and freshman teams have fielded successful seasons the past few years, i just don't think the depth has been tapped yet. as a huge fan of D2 football i appreciate franklin scheduling ryan. the dobbyns bennet games vs mba a couple years back rendered two of the best high school games i've ever seen....the clash between public and private always adds another element of excitement to the game, no matter what the talent level yields on either side.
  16. I went to school with JP at Saint Bernard Academy from first grade till 6th grade and I will never forget the smiles he passed along to everyone.

    MUS-MBA

i received a phone call last night from a vandy friend about this score and immediately went outside and threw a fit. another embarassing night to be an mba graduate and football follower, i'm going to stop following this team. cpa is a scary matchup and from the looks of it they seem to enjoy playing football. i've never heard of an mba team rushing for NINE yards....

has carney lined up at tight end for mba or is rutledge using him as a slot-hback like people had been saying earlier? also how did jd lawhorn do in summer workouts for ole miss?

could some mba guys fill me in on whose starting on the line this year?
  20. spike mcdaniel from riverdale's squad a few years back.... did ralph king play defense? he and gerald riggs were in the same class talent wise
  21. of the middle tn players i have seen- moses oswemegie, blake goodman, and barton simmons out of mba joe sanders, alvin fite, walter fisher jr. out of hillsboro ryan karl from bga west and east tn players- justin mosby the running back out of christian brothers the year mccallie won it in D23A linebacker from dobbyns-bennett in 2002 that went to Air Force i think

    MUS-MBA

mus has the best record against mba among all the super seven teams....i think they may have the lead in the overall series after last season
  23. 2priceless is 2obsessed with this sam guy. why did oakland only win two games last year? i don't know, ask sam, he had some amount of control over all that. you're silly to ask if golden tate accomplished all this with many underclassmen amongst his supporting cast as jpII was younger from top to bottom than oakland's jv team. tate played in four or five games his 8th grade year in the parochial league and still managed to have well over 20 touchdowns. i saw the ba vs oakland game last year and bruce little took his lunch and made him cry on the line. kottas played better in that game in my opinion. i've watched golden tate for four years now and there's no question as to which player's mailbox is going to be filling up more often than the other's....golden tate. i reall don't like jpII much at all, i think they raided the staffs of other D2 schools in a fashion that was quite unethical(but whatever), but golden is the heart and soul of that team and without him they would be what oakland was last year, a two hitter quitter.
  24. ryan usually sends more to the ivy's each year than mba
  25. the only problem mba has right now is the hard time players have had recently figuring out what they're playing for and why. after last years playoff game at mus when rutledge ran the ball behind rascoe dean with david howe on the goal line instead of putting beckner or pilkerton behind BIRDSONG i've had a real hard time deciding what kind of coach rutledge is. albeit he has the mind of an nfl offensive coordinator and could be at the University of Virginia or with the New York Jets right now but what kind of high school kid wants to go out and play his heart out for a coach who cries before every game?? everyone is a winner in jeff's book and that just isn't the approach to take when it comes to taking on the hardest schedule in the state year in AND year out. the days of coach bowers were a blessing in disguise and many a gentleman, scholar, and athlete have grown a strong disdain for the man at the helm of the big red right now. jeff is a man on a witchhunt......
