  1. That's a shame, we always enjoyed beating up on those Jackson boys. But according to the article on the front page, it appears this game with Nease is a pretty big one.
  2. theres a thread in the general football forum.
  3. Being from Memphis I know a little about Melrose. I can tell you that their fans are very passionate about their football- anything less than a state championship is simply unacceptable. Right or wrong, that's the standard that Melrose football is held to. So it's not exactly easy to coach in Orange Mound. As for this past season, Melrose spent much of the of the year trying to establish a passing game, they finally found a decent QB in Wilson. However, I think that in doing that they took the ball out of Cooper's hands and struggled at the beginning of the year with mediocre opponents. Most of the games this year were won because of their superior athletic ability, and, for the most part, a well disciplined and well coached team could have beaten them. Personally, I think they need to find a coach that can teach them discipline- they've got more athletes than several teams could put together. A little discipline and they could be scary good.
  4. Not to mention, he made alot of plays by himself- his oline was less than stellar that game.. he also has great hands out of the backfield
  5. To tell you the truth I had my doubts about Cooper in the beginning. However I saw him play in a scrimmage against MUS at the beginning of this past season and was just wowed, and MUS had one of the better defenses in the state this past year. He would run over the first tackler and then juke another and out run the secondary, great instincts and a good runner.
  6. One of the greatest guys I ever played football against, both on and off the field. So suprised to hear of his untimely death, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Mosby family and the CBHS community.
  7. Last I checked, defense is pretty key to the game.. I dont know if Melrose would beat Alcoa, but defensively i think they certainly could slow down the Alcoa offense.. in all fairness to the Melrose defense they were beaten on trick plays.. now i think that maryville was the better team and getting beat on trick plays is just a part of discipline, which melrose lacked.. hats off to maryville, they scouted very well and did what it took to win By the way Cooper is a heck of a back, and did quite of bit of damage on his own, by that i mean his offensive line did not generate a whole lot of blocking up front, most big plays came from him either running people over or just flat out running by them.. I would put him up against any back in tennessee
  8. I wouldn't be so sure that McCallie is the only DII school that could compete, but that is not what this is about.. The fact that a spending war determines who coaches where in high school football is just sad, from alums giving money or whatever else you can think of.. what is high school football coming to? This is the side of DII football I do not like personally, I know that it happens in DI as well- but unfortunately in DII money is controlling and alums are the real employers. Just my two cents.
  9. Umm.. evidently there is some sort of animosity here.. I'm guessing?
  10. Haha, does your son possess the same grammer skills that you do?
  11. Correct me if I am wrong, but BA hasn't even won a DII title.. all their titles came before the split.
  12. I was just going by what the stats said, if it's wrong, then I am wrong. I do know that he played against us (MUS) last year in the final game. That's the only hard fact that I know, so I looked it up on tnsuper7.com because I was curious myself, and it states that he played in 9 games, if it's wrong ok, my bad. And by the way, Chris Mosby would be crazy if he didn't want to play with Chris Walker, again, let me state more clearly, Chris Mosby makes MORE big plays than Chris Walker, not saying he doesn't make the big play or that he can't, he just doesn't make as many. Walker allows for alot of attention to be taken off of Mosby, it's a dynamic 1-2 punch, I don't disagree with you at all.
  13. I never stated that CBHS didn't have a great defense, because they do, the stats don't lie. I was just replying to another post.
