  1. Not talking about a state championship- just talking about Rogan hanging about 200 yards on the AC Cows---in the first half.
  2. I apologize-- I guess everything in life, including the outcome of a high school football game, is a matter of perspective.
  3. Just a Central fan who joined last year to talk a little smack before the games. Buddied up with ZCAR last season in setting a few Powell fans straight. Have a lot of respect for the "Battle of Black Oak Ridge"- just wished the game would live up to the hype.
  4. I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say- must be close enough to Oak Ridge to where the radiation is affecting your speech capacity- but if coming off an impressive 1-9 season and getting smacked around by Oak Ridge is enough to get you excited, then more power to you. And you are correct, I have not seen them play- I prefer to spend my Friday evenings watching a team that wins football games. Don't worry though, I'll have a close enough look at your Dragons when they come to Fountain City on October 20------we'll see how you feel about your chances after that.
  5. Someone already started a thread on this, but I'll ask you the same question I asked them. Who is Clinton going to beat in the region other than South Doyle and LC to make the playoffs?
  6. If these "better teams" that you are talking about can't make the playoffs when teams that are 5-5 are, then re-districting isn't going to help. It doesn't matter anyways, whenever they advance far enough to play one of the Knoxville area teams it's over for them.
  7. Rogan would have a break out game against AC if you all put 15 guys on the field at once. Get ready for "The Show".
  8. Hey ZCAR, Good to see you back on the boards. I'm afraid that you're right about this game not being close. That's a shame- too good of a rivalry not to have a good game to back it up. Oh well, we can still have fun this year bashing all the Powell fans. Central- 35 Halls- 7
  9. Maryville may have class, but I assure you that they will not let you score. You might get one by their 3rd string (which will probably be in by halftime) but Clinton couldn't score 3 TD's against Maryville's band. As far as making the playoffs----other than South Doyle and LC, who do you think you're going to beat in this region to do that?
  10. Hey osunut2--- love the picture. O-H-I-O
  11. Rigger, it all comes down to coaching- especially at this level when so much depends on momentum and emotion. Farragut had a chance to score in the second half (after the kid fell on the 7 yard line going in for the TD). Farragut's only success Friday night was running the ball straight up the middle (that #31 was a TOUGH runner). 4 times up the middle from the 7 would have been a TD with the way that kid was running. Instead, Courtney tried some other stuff and resulted in 4 straight negative yardage plays. That killed any momentum that you guys had. On a side note-----As far as people complaining about where others are tailgaiting or which tunnel people are using or who is sitting where- quit crying. We've been watching Central football for years under the same set up as we have now without any problems. Get to the game, get your seat and watch the game.
  12. I hope Farragut's defense is as "strong as last year". That means we'll be celebrating another Central victory.
  13. Got on Coach T to hear the latest on the Maryville/Alcoa game but can't find an open thread. What's up? I need to know what my Cats are going to be up against in a few weeks (after we take care of the Ads tonight, of course).
  14. Nope, there has never been 2 back to back champs from the same county. Congrats to both teams for outstanding seasons.
  15. Congratulations to the Rebels for winning a very exciting game. Incredible display of running and as always, excellent coaching for you guys. I don't see next week's game even being a struggle for you, so good luck at the Boro and show the rest of the state what football in this area is all about. To FBE, RebNation, RebRaider, and the rest of the intelligent Maryville fans- it's been good jawing with you this year- we'll pick it up again next Fall.
  16. 16- you need to read all the posts associated with this one before responding. You got in on the middle of a discussion and don't understand what the point being made was. As far as your post goes, you say that when one person makes a mistake there are still 11 people there to make a hit. 12 men on the field- I knew that Maryville's defense was awfully good in the first game. (Just kidding) Good luck tonight and stay safe.
  17. FBE, I respect the posts that you put on here- usually well thought out and stated. But I think the excitement of the upcoming game has hindered your reading a little. My posts said that the teams were not evenly matched during the first game. The game you were giving stats for, Central's offense was not on par with Maryville's. They have improved since then and I think we'll see a better performance from Central's O. And I know that we could sit here all day and debate the Bad Offense vs. Good Defense issue, but it doesn't really matter. The fact is that 2 teams tonight will meet- both with very good defenses and both with athletes on offense capable of opening the game up at anytime. Good luck and I hope the winner takes it all.
  18. Hey FBE, Do you mean Catholic for 3A?
  19. They weren't evenly matched during the first game- offensively. I believe that with the improvement of Central on that side of the ball that it is now more evenly matched. As far as the mistakes I was talking about- Maryville scored first on Tank's 50 yard (or so) run. The mistake was that Central's end lost the contain. The 2nd score was on a long pass (I think) and the mistake was the DB. The point I was trying to make was that neither side drove the ball real well all night (except the Maryville drive that ended in the interception runback) due to the defenses of both schools. I think that we will see more of the same in a very close game.
  20. After reading some of the predicted scores, I wonder if most people have forgotten what kind of defense is going to be on both sides of the ball. The reg. season game had 4 TD's scored by 4 BIG plays that were results from mistakes by one person on the field. This late in the season those mistakes are a lot less likely to happen. In the regular season game, Maryville brought their A game on both sides of the ball. Central brought an A defense but their offense was B/B- at best. Central's defense is a little bit better now that Longworth is back and their offense has definitely improved since that game. I don't know how much Maryville has improved since then, but these two teams are as evenly matched as you could get. It will be a low scoring game that is probably decided by another FG. (I'm still having trouble getting over that last kick )
  21. Well if Helton is limited as you said on on the other thread, I guess I'm hoping for 5 field goals and a safety.
  22. Central blocked 3 of your kicks yet your "special teams took over all night"? Interesting interpretation.
  23. Reverse of the regular season- Central-17 MHS-14
