  1. Hmmm. Will you be so humble after the final season ending whistle of the game? Only time will tell.
  2. Or correctly spelled it would be DEFENSE. Look it up in your Funk and Wagnels.
  3. I am guessing that you missed the second half of the game to visit your parole officer.
  4. Oh, I am not complaining, just trying to be clever. Which was apparently lost on you. Regardless, in my opinion the officials made a mistake. It happens as they are not perfect. Remember the MLB official that cost a pitcher a perfect game. I just hate for a game to be decided on an officiating mistake.
  5. Wartburg: 14 Oliver Springs: 20 Officials: 8 (If they get the same crew that worked the Sunbright/OS game).
  6. I was on the sidelines. I heard an official say "white ball". At which point OS players stopped the play, the scramble, Sunbright grabs the ball and another official gives it to Sunbright. The refs, may try to be impartial like you say, but in this case they blew the call. One official did not know what another official was doing. I have several pictures of missed calls, such as facemask violations, fumbles where the player was already down (or not down), even one missed touchdown, that are not called or called incorrectly in a game, missed by officials. Missed calls have happened before, they will happen in the future. As long as the calls are not blatantly biased and continue to be just errors such calls will continue to be a part of the game, Sunbright got smacked hard the second half. Lucky breaks was all that won them the game. They were unable to stop OS and OS was running the ball at will, a couple of runs for significant distance. I don't fault the refs much. Stuff happens and they are not perfect. They make mistakes and in this case they did make a mistake. It happens. Witness the blown call in MLB that cost a pitcher a perfect game. Over the course of a few seasons it will even out. OS will get some calls their way they are mistakes. Officials cannot see it all. There are only 10 eyes watching 22 players. It is unfortunate that a game was decided on a mistake by an official. But it happends even in the pro league gamess, it happens in the HS games. If the officials were perfect they would not be doing HS football games. It was an exciting game. The fans got their monies worth. And for that both teams deserve recognition. Regardless of who won my stock portfolio does not gain or lose value.
  7. All this looking at past records from eight, nine or ten years ago says nothing. Most of the players have graduated after 4 yours. So if you look back eight years the records mean nothing as I suspect that most of the players have long moved on (with the exception of Coalfield).
  8. No. However, any team that makes it to state should be proud. On any given day any team at this level can win over any other team.
  9. Easy. The winner played a better game and scored more points. It is a simple concept. Complaining about referees when you lose is simply whining because you can think of no other reason and are unwilling to accept the obvious. I am pulling for OS in the state matchup. But I also wish Harriman along with the other teams success in their quest for a gold ball. All teams that make it to the state playoffs are to be congratulated for their efforts and encourage to produce their best at this time. Regardless of who wins or loses it will not change my stock portfolio, affect my performance review or reduce my mortgage payment. Enjoy good basketball, the best of the best.
  10. Ha, ha, ha. You said TSSAA and something sensible within the same sentence. You should know that common sense, logic and TSSAA do not go well together.
  11. The article says they play at Hampton.
  12. What is the infraction for which Oliver Springs has been convicted by TSSAA?
  13. Well, I missed it by quite a bit. OS won by 1 in overtime. But for a couple of breaks that could have gone either direction OS managed to pull it out. Great job Wartburg. You should be proud of your accomplishment. Do well in the state as you have proven you can stand with some of the best. For OS, which I support, they are going to have to step it up, a lot, to advance far in the state. I wish them good fortune as they move on into the state rounds. One thing for sure the people that paid the TSSAA tax surely got their moneys worth watching the game. Regarding the coach C and KC comments. I find that coach C treats KC no differently than many of the other players. KC is good and that is why she gets to play. There are a couple of other players that try things that are way beyond their capabilities and throw away the ball and fault someone other than themselves yet are allowed to play a lot. If a player is a good player, regardless of the relationship with the coach, the player should be playing. PLaying your best when needed is the smart thing to do.
  14. Consider that OS has beaten Wartburg three times this year, by 14 points, 18 points, and 7 points, I don't feel there is much in doubt. For Wartburg to win would require a significant upset as was done last year. I don't think that is going to happen. Along with OS having revenge on it's mind for the loss last year there will be motivation on OSes side to make it a clean sweep. Of course Wartburg will be looking to repeat and avenge the losses earlier in the year. But I just don't think Wartburg winning is going to happen. There is too much in the favor of OS. I do want both teams to play well and make it a good game. Regardless of the winner they will both move on to the next level. I think OS will win by 12 points. Good luck to both teams. Make it such that the fans that have paid the TSSAA tax will see a game they will enjoy.
  15. There were a couple of calls at the end that I thought were questionable and probably could have gone either way. They went in the favor of Grace. So be it. That is part of basketball when judgement calls are involved. A couple of calls does not make the entire game. OS was really lacking on the shooting. They had lots of shots but had difficulty in making the ball go through the hoop. It was not OS'es best night. Grace played well, OS played well. There can only be one victor and this time it was Grace. Good luck to Grace as they move on. I am pulling for Rockwood in the finals. Whichever team takes the region I hope they take the state and bring a gold ball back to East TN.
  16. It will if the other team scores 39 or less. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  17. The only two times I visited AE I got some ribs and they were darn good ribs. Can't fault AE for their food choices. I was simply using hamburgers as a metaphor representing all the goodies they sell at the games. I also feel that even if the events did not happen on school property the school should still respond. Teachers are accountable for what they do when not involved with the school and their free time. Teachers get put on administrative leave for infractions that are later proven false. Why should it be different for the students? What these students did (although at 19 for one of them you have to wonder) affects the image and reputation of the school. Letting these students play will mark AE as a school that lets criminals on the athletic field. Right or wrong that is just the way it is going to be perceived. AE, nor any school, certainly does not need such a black mark on their image. The school should not give any impression regardless of how small, that the school condones such activity. The correct direction for the school is to suspend the players pending the outcome of the charges. Football is not a right but a priviledge. Denying that priviledge does not infringe upon rights or personal liberties. Letting the players play simply sends the wrong message for extra curricular activities.
  18. If the AE coach does not consider the stealing enough to keep the players from playing I have a plan. How about a 100 or so people sneak into the next AE game free. Deny AE the gate receipts that these people would have paid. Don't throw the people out and let them continue to watch the game because they have not been convicted. Would AE be pleased with the loss of revenue? Or how about a couple hundred people steal a hamburger from the AE concession stand. Again, let them continue to watch the game because they have not been convicted. How would AE feel about the loss of revenue? High school football is not a right, it is a priviledge. Anything any HS sports player does to diminish that program should be punished. That punishment in this case would be for these players to be terminated from the team. For every action there is a consequence. To allow these players to play sends the message that as long as they are football players they can continue in their criminal activities. These players are not bright enough to see it any other way.
  19. Through, as in not stopping. That would indicate that whomever heads in that direction will continue through and will bypass Grace, briefly stopping to look. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I think it would be better to say that all roads STOP at Grace. Unless of course you truly did understand what you were saying. Or perhaps language skills are not as important at Grace as sports. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  20. Are you counting all the quarters or just the first quarter? /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> But hey, what do I know. USC got upset by a non-ranked team. Anything is possible.
  21. Yep. And not just to you. The game was decided in the first five minutes. My prediction was wrong. Kudos to Coalfield for wanting the victory more and putting forth an excellent effort.
  22. Well, I hope it is a good game for both sides. No blowouts. No injuries. A battle that will be decided in the final 4 minutes of the last quarter. While I am an OS supporter I have been known to clap for an opposing team member that makes an outstanding play. I will not jump and cheer but I will acknowledge their effort. These kids work hard on both sides of the ball and fan appreciation of an outstanding effort should be shown. I will never boo any player. Referees yes, players no. Whoever wins will not affect my life nor how much I pay at the gas pump. I hope OS wins by 6 or 7. I also hope that Coalfield comes away proud of their effort. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. There are no fans in Sunbright, only observers.
  24. 12 what? I am hoping that you mean points not something else sinister /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> .
