  1. ^^^^ heh very interesting . . .
  2. This match was definitely fun to watch. Both defenses held tough through most of the game with just 2 costly errors for Catholic. Sutch had two zingers off the woodwork. Well played season for the Lady Irish.
  3. lady irish tore us apart. i have a lot of respect for their team, and i am pulling for them to go all the way!
  4. wondering the outcome on this one, let me know when it's over if you would be so kind
  5. Ya, just trying to compare her to those world class players as in the way she moves forward and participates in the attack like them. =0
  6. Wow! I really didn't expect that. I thought for sure that Kingston would come out on top of that game. I thought it would be a close one, but surprised CAK won (if they ended up winning which 3-0 with minutes left I would assume so). Congrats to CAK for a game well played.
  7. I have a fresh young talented outside back. She is a freshman and her name is Tiffany Miles. Good knowledge and implementation of that knowledge. Very agressive and plays good pressure defense. Also plays a lot like a Cafu or Roberto Carlos by coming up and scoring some goals. Always looking to get in to the attack and press her D up. Can't wait to see what happens with her over the next few years.
  8. All great points, mine differs slightly though. Passion - I've seen a lot of less talented teams upset some strong teams with nothing but pure passion displayed on the field. When every player on a team is up for a game, they will go in to every 50/50 ball 110%, they will make every run at 110%, and so on and so forth. I think passion is key to winning and having a strong team. The only problem with passion is that it is very hard to instill in to players who do not show it for themselves. This has been one of the hardest things for me to learn how to accomplish as a coach, but the rewards are endless. Teammanship - Much like your bonding and togetherness, I think teammanship lies near the top of the traits for success. With girls especially, it can be difficult to get them to bond and everyone be friends on the field. If accomplished though your team will work together and keep everyone's spirits high throughout the season. Game Plan - I think a great game plan can sometimes outweigh talent. If you know how to use all of your players wisely, then even with mediocre talent you can accomplish great things. I believe the game plan is all about getting the very best of each player on the field. I also think the game plan has to be very fluid, a coach needs to be able to implement different parts at different times and the players have to be able to recognize this and be able to act it out accordingly. Talent - Talent is key to success because without it you have no starting block, no base for your team. Obviously the more talent the easier the job will be to get your team winning games. Knowledge of the Game - By making your players more knowledgeable about the game, they stand a better chance in most situations on the field. This slightly goes along with talent, but everyone knows a player that has good knowledge and feel for the game, they just don't have the touch or speed really needed to be highly competitive. If knowledge can be imparted to all players then a lasting effect will be left for them for the rest of their soccer careers. I also believe a strong feeder program is paramount for success in High School soccer. Whether it be at the middle school level, or club teams in your area, a strong feeder program is what gives the high school coaches the talent to work with.

    Games are 80 min long
  10. Very true, I guess I didn't put much thought in to my post. I will say, however, the few of my girls that do go on and play college soccer do not play with a good club team. Soccer is still quite new with the small Seymour community and it's hard to get any type of feeder program going in a place where football is so important. The very few that do play in college are routinely asked for stats and a highlight tape. My girls don't go to big schools because they just aren't good enough, plainly. They've only been recruited by Division III schools. Maybe it isn't right or maybe it isn't just if that is a better word, but the coaches for the small Div. III colleges have always been more inclined to look at how many goals or assists or saves someone has, then decide whether or not they will come and watch them play a game. Since there is little recruiting going on in the first place for Div. III schools because they can't give out soccer scholarships, it is the player or coach's responsibility to contact the college and ask them to come watch the player play. Usually before they do that though they want to know the stats, and thus my reasoning for a player to put away some extra goals: it will help motivate a small college coach to come view the player, add incentive so to speak. Also a previous point was it will help the player get All-Region or so, I hope that receiving awards like that, which coaches vote on, aren't digressed down to how many goals a player scores. Coaches especially should be more sensitive to the more fine-tuned aspects of the game when voting on those awards.
  11. Do you think CAK is better than Kingston?
  12. So those are your predictions mjuhb? Not too shabby I must say. . .
  13. Great points. It is hard for some colleges to recognize which teams their prospected players play against are good and which are below average. I can see how scoring a lot of goals could be justified for those reasons also. Some college coaches rely too much on stats like that and don't look at the meat of it, like which teams where quality competition and such.
  14. I think one factor leading to this, and I don't know the specific situation there in Chattown, is if one team in a district does it and there is going to be a tight race for 1st place in the district, it could end up going down to goal differential. That happened to my team my Junior year. I would find it hard to justify running the score up on anyone for any other reasons.
  15. Confused as how you went about choosing the teams. . .
  16. Oh. . . Prepxtra had them listen to play Tuesday Sept. 20th. I guess Prepxtra must be wrong since they still don't have the score posted. Thanks hoya.
  17. Anyone happen to know the details or score on the Catholic vs South Doyle game?
  18. Results of the game: Seymour 8 Rockwood 0 Good game ladies.
  19. I would too, the other district in Region 2 is loaded with teams: Catholic, CAK, Kingston, Oneida, and Anderson County. Seymour isn't going to improve any playing all these weaker teams. Finding out how the district is arranged would be nice.
  20. And Seymour is 5-0-0 in the district? This district is a joke, Seymour has beaten every team in it by atleast 6 goals. Even the #2 team Alcoa lost 7-1 to Seymour. It is unlucky that Seymour is lumped in to a district with no competition because now they are forced to play 8 games against subpar teams, leaving them very little schedule to play strong teams to improve. Seymour in a landslide. . .
  21. It will be quite a challenge for Rockwood. Best of luck to both teams. Glad to see District games finally wrapping up in District 3 A/AA.
  22. Who all has Rockwood played in district? If they've beat Alcoa and Carter then I'd be most impressed and I would say they would have a good chance to move out of District 3 on to Regions. If they haven't played those two teams yet though, from what I know about Rockwood it would be a very very tough game for them. I mean if they had to come from behind on Gibbs I can't see them beating King's Academy handedly, or maybe not at all. I happened to see some of the King's vs Gibbs game and King's killed them possession wise, and in the end won nicely.
  23. The Sequoyah vs Seymour game did not impress me much either way. Sequoyah should have put that game away on many chances, especially against Seymour team. It ended in a 1-1 tie though.
