  1. Hey Pats! Great job at state. also, I saw where Wolf made Prep Extra first team. How does Catholic basketball stack up? I am getting slammed on here for questioning how a school with so many athletes is going to go winless in Nov AND Dec. Hopi, does no one question why 33 girls have quit. Does anybody stay four years?
  2. Rachel Templin is currently playing division 1 volleyball. Lori Purkey went to a D-1 school before transferring to work on pre-med. Amy Eckerly also had D-1 offers but chose to stay at home. Those girls graduated in 03. Mai Ferry had a D-1 offer but chose to play close to home, she graduated in 05, which was when my daughter graduated. And yes, there are D-1 prospects there now. The Sain girl is a definite D-1 player, and may be the best soph in the state. Likewise, Pittman and Hopi's daughter could play D-1. Bollinger and Dew will also play college. As far as how tough is it to get to state, that shows your ignorance. AC finished third at state, Catholic, who is in their district finished second. CAK (who had Catholic on the ropes for a first round district knock-out and Stone Memorial make it the toughest volleyball district in the state for A/AA. Also, unlike basketball, only 2 teams go from the district to the region, where AC had to beat a powerful Seymour team which had only lost 3 matches all year. They did all of this with a freshman MB who had never played replacing 6'4" All Region Faith Dupree and a soph MB that had never played replacing 6' Emily Dupree who was the best returning player. This loss hurt the volleyball team worse than basketball because they also lost to graduation two other front row players Brittany Carter who is playing in college, and 6' Megan Seiber who could have played in college. The volleyball was much younger than the basketball team, and they made their 9th straight trip to state, and made their 7th final four in 9 years. The difference is coaching. Anderson County IS loaded with athletes. There is no way AC should be winless at this point in the season. To be fair I don't live there anymore, but my daughter goes to college in TN, and I visit and have friends and family there. Don't attck the girls on the basketball team, because they ARE talented. They will win games. I am done with this thread. Good luck girls, I believe in you!
  3. Wow, with what they had returning I really expected them to win 20 games and compete for the region title. I am a little red faced.
  4. With the athletes AC has surely they will win alot more games than just Kingston?
  5. your kidding! So we are still winless?
  6. How did AC do against CAK last night?
  7. I disagree, AC has great athletes! I will admit that we are obviously not playing up to our potential, but it has nothing to do with the girls. Hopi has answered my question as to why.
  8. Wow, I missed the boat on this one! I feel AC has the best starting five in the region. Athletically their top 5 is outstanding. According to the paper Fulton beat us last night. I thought we would be at worst 5-1 right now. I am in Iowa, and am not seeing the games just getting updates. What is happening. Hopi, how are we not winning these games? We play CAK tonight and should beat them by 15. Don't give me the Duprees as an excuse, because programs lose players all of the time. There is no way this team, with the talent they have, should be winless. What is wrong?
  9. Truthfully, I am here in Iowa and know the girls and coach from being down in TN. I know the girls are very athletic, and the volleyball team did great. (Back to back final 4's.) How can there be such a difference in the two sports? I stand by AC. We beat SM twice in volleyball, we will win aagain in basketball.
  10. Look for Anderson County to post a big region win over Stone Memorial. The AC sharpshooters will have too much speed for SM.
  11. Anderson County is the most athletic and the fastest team in the region. Their record doesn't show how much talent this team has. Oaks, Elliot, Ellis, Lay, Parks are all capable of 20 a night. No upset, AC by 10!
  12. Well said QB. It is hard being a first time coach, particuarly if you never played or coached with a seasoned coach. X's and O's are the easy part. I would add that favoritism on a team will kill it. Coach, find an older coach (maybe even from a different school) and develope a mentor relationship. Don't be afraid to admit that you have alot to learn.
  13. I agree Barb. This is probably a fine young coach that has his heart in the right place, he just lacks experience in these type of situations. Coaching is hard. Young guys like this that probably never played in college, or were asst.'s to really good programs, jump in the deep end not knowing how to swim. This guy seems like a good guy. I hope his ad or a more experienced coach takes him to the side for a little talk.
  14. If I was your AD I would take away your coachT pass word. I agree with Gueen Bee on this one, you have crossed aline about discussing a parents confidential communication in public. Doesn't matter that you didn't use the name, how hard is it to figure out since you told everyone that she leads the team in shot attempts. I have no idea who you are, but I assume that you are a young coach in your first job. Man, this stuff will kill you. Parents are allowed to have input. They are also allowed to have an expectation of privacy when they talk to about their child. You have now lost this parents trust, and embareesed one of your players. That is wrong. If I were the AD you would issue a public apology and at the least serve a game suspension. These are young girls. You crossed aline coach, do the right thing.,
  15. No joke. AC won more than 20 games last year and should win more than 20 this year. First, they play a weak district schedule. Every team in AC's district is down from last year. That will give them alot of wins. They should walk to the district finals, which they should have won last year. Second, there non-district schedule is not that tough. Expect them to go on a long win streak early. Third, and most important, they are loaded with quick athletic players. No one in their region has the athletes that AC has. Granted, AC doesn't have alot of size, but they are quick and athletic. Agressive defense will create points. Expect this team to do very well.
  16. Great job Lady Dragons! Maybe there will be 4 Anderson County teams make state!
  17. Anderson County is loaded with talent this year, and should win the region. They play in a weak district, and no one will push them until the regional finals. Yes, losing the Dupree girls hurts, but look at volleyball. The volleyball team lost the Duprees and graduated three other starters losing 5 of their top 6 players. They finished 3rd in the STATE. AC will be fine. Expect another 20 plus win season, and a trip to the buro! AC is L-O-A-D-E-D, and come Christmas will be about 10-2! At AC we have a motto. "We don't rebuild, we reload!"
  18. Why? Anderson County seems to have a great womens athletic program. They dominate in volleyball and are very good in track, soccer and softball. I thought they won over 25 games in basketball last year? Do they have a new coach?
  19. They still have to be LOADED. We played Anderson County in volleyball and they wore us out. With all of those girls playing basketball I can't believe they won't be awesome?
  20. This would be a big win for a young AC team. Stone Memorial has six seniors that have played together for a while. Stone has to be the favorite.
  21. I called Knoxville Catholic and asked what tuition was, A very pleasant lady said that it depended on whether or not I was Catholic. She said if I wasn't Catholic it was $7800 a year (roughly) and if I was Catholic it was $5200 a year (roughly.) I asked why the difference. The answer I was given was that if I was Catholic my local parrish would make up the difference. She also said that it didn't matter if I was an athlete or not. If I was Catholic my local church made up the difference. Here is my question. Rule 16 says that to play in Div 1 the only people that can pay the tuition is the parent or legal guardian. If someone else pays, (like the local church) then you go to Div 2. How can Catholic get past this rule when at least 25% of the players tuition is being paid by the church. GLJ a rule interpretation would be good here. By the way. The majority of the Catholic athletes at Knoxville Catholic take advantage of this benefit. Some get a bigger % of their tuition paid by having brothers and sisters in the system. How is this legal.
  22. Great Line Judge. Please delete the posts that pull quotes from posts that you deleted.
  23. Ouch! My hand has been appropriatley slapped!
  24. If an apple were an orange, would we still call it an apple? Catuballer, the difference is the recruiting, the money, and year round play. They Louisville teams aren't better, they are different. You can't compare those type of year round programs that recruit to a normal program. The run Brentwood had is similiar. They were the first school to embrace year round play and to use "club" to have an extra season. I still think this is wrong, because I don't think it is good for the athlete. I remember when the TSSAA got up in arms about Brentwood Academy openly recruiting and playing year round. So much so that they changed the rules. Were they right? Depends on who you talk to. Brentwood was the gold standard in our state. Just because a few Ky private schools that play more than most college programs could beat them doesn't mean anything.
