  1. Any other scores from the Bearden tournament?
  2. In the Knoxville area it's not really 2000>400. It's who gets the 40-50 competitive players each year. What this score says to me is that they are both very talented teams but that both will have to work hard and have things go their way to win their regions and to make it to the state championship game....as it should be!
  3. Aintnostoppin......., when Bear Cat Brown say's "lady Irish" I believe he is talking about ND. In your opinion is CAK better than last year or about the same?
  4. Catholic only lost 3 seniors but they were the core of the team the last few years. They had a good Freshman class last year and I hear they have a good incoming Freshman class this year. They have an excellent Senior keeper but overall only have a few Seniors and Juniors on the team so they will likely be starting a very young team.
  5. I think CAK will easily take the district with Catholic coming in second again; however, Catholic will be very young starting a lot of Freshmen and Sophomores. This would be a good year for one of the other schools to step up and take it away from them.
  6. Knox Catholic is losing just 3 Seniors but they have been the heart of the team the last few years. The Freshman class this year was pretty good and I hear there is another good class of freshman coming in next year.
  7. ( I understand that Catholic had some bad injury problems early in the season, is everyone back?) Catholic has everyone back playing and they finally have positions settled and have gotten used to playing together. Seymour had a good team last year so if they have improved this should be a very close game.
  8. Farragut 2 - Knox Catholic 0
  9. (Mary Gray Johnson, Sr midfielder for Sequoyah went down Thurs against McMinn Central. Her MRI will tell the tale, but her MCL is most probably torn, according to the excellent men at TOC. ) Chindit, sorry to hear that about Mary Gray. Sorry to hear about the BA girl as well. Especially tough since it's their Senior years.
  10. Knox Catholic 6 - Anderson County 2
  11. Yea Chindik! Excellent post...but be careful with the A/AA privates!! Didn't a small town team near you make it to State last year?? I know, that's for the public/private board and I don't want to be accused of baiting. What's the story behind Chindik anyway??!! And, I agree...your daughter could easily be on the list!!
  12. Catholic had all their players on the pitch for the first time this week. They are still very young but are making steady improvement. A few of their injured players are at less than 100% and will likely stay that way through the rest of the season. The Districts and Regionals could be interesting this year outside of CAK.
  13. Catholic has two key players out with injuries and one that just returned. Outside of that they are a pretty young team that will get better as the season moves on.
  14. Science Hill looked pretty good. Catholic is very young and they have a couple of key players out with injuries right now.
  15. Can anyone post the schedule for the KIL Jamboree this weekend? Thanks.

    AA/A 2007

Very little discussion on the A/AA thread. Are any A/AA teams participating in camps? Are any teams feeling particularly strong for 2007?

    2008 A/AA

I know this belongs on the public/private thread but I have to comment. What do Farragut, Bearden, Catholic and CAK all have in common? Add West HS and Webb to the list and you have 95% of the kids that play competitive soccer for the Impact, Smoky Mountain and KFC competitive teams. Three very good soccer clubs that call West Knoxville home. That is why those schools are successful in soccer. That has nothing to do with public vs private or even the size of the schools.
  18. Mark Lieter was the assistant boys coach at Catholic. I believe he and coach Rosenbald switched positions. I also believe Mark was the state Coach of the Year in one of the polls for the girls in 2005 so I don't think coaching will be an issue.
  19. Where do the sportswriters get their information and how many actually vote? The only time I have seen a sportswriter around a high school soccer game is at the State tournament.
  20. You can't really use ODP Region as the standard either because many solid players in the state choose not to participate in ODP. If they did it would make selection into the regional pool more difficult. Not to take anything away from the three you mentioned because I am sure they are very good.
  21. Anna Hickey and two of the four defenders. They will need some defensive help from their incoming Freshman class.
  22. Does anyone know the final?
  23. Congratulations to CAK! You have an excellent team and deserve the championship! Congratulations to USJ in making it to the championship game and sticking with CAK! Quite an accomplishment for both.

Of the 5 games against ranked opponents they beat #11 Jackson Christian 3 times by 1 goal in each game. I think Catholic should have been ranked around 7 or 8. It was hard to rank them because most of their losses were to quality opponents (CAK X 3). Others were to Bearden, West, Houston, Webb and a few other AAA opponents. And they did have a few injuries early to key players. I think tonights game should be similar to last nights game with Sweetwater! If Catholic has anything left it should be fun! Saturday...maybe not so fun for the winner!
