This should be a good game. Kingston can pull the upset but they'll need to do a better job hitting their free throws. They wont be able to turn the ball over like they did against Monteray either. Also, they wont be able to wait until the 2nd quarter to start crashing the boards. When they played Monteray, there was a lot of players just standing around watching and not even trying to get a rebound.

Kingston is suppose to play the winner of the Meigs County / Oakdale game tomorrow at 6:00. The winner of that game will play at 1:00 Saturday and the loser will play at 10:30 Saturday. The reason for the brackets changing is that the last 4 games that were suppose to be played Wednesday night were moved to Thursday (today) because the electricty at the gym went out last night around 4:30 and didnt come back on until sometime after 7.

Kingston beat Monteray in overtime, 50-44

Man, some people are being kinda rough on Brooke Gentry! Just a couple things you might want to consider, first, she's only a Sophmore and second, how does anyone know that Coach P. didnt tell her to do what she did? Brooke is a good ball player and is still learning. Believe me, her driving down the lane didnt cost them the ballgame. I would suggest that everyone just continue to watch them and be patient (I know thats hard right now). Brooke, Alisha, Katie, Tayler, Jacklyn, Jennifer, Brianna and a few others will be playing together for the remainer of this season plus 2 more years. No matter how frustrating it may seem right now, if the coaches work with them on the basics, the rest will fall into place. This group of girls has above average talent and a lot of potential. Only time will tell if they reach that potential. The fans just need to be patient and let the coaches do their job.

Boy were you wrong. The Lady Highlanders lost to the Lady Jackets last night 61-43. Both teams are young but Kingston handled them pretty easily. All the lady Jackets played well. Kingston plays Lenoir City Thursday which should give them better test. Anyone know how the boys game ended. It was tied after the first quarter.

I agree with bballnuts, Kingston must become a better outside shooting team for them to compete. They just dont have the size inside. Gentry and Martin are Sophmores and Smith is a Freshman. These 3 are doing a fair job but not having an outside threat, lets opposing teams sink their defense into the paint making it difficult to get the ball inside. From what I've seen, Thearp, Parks and Fielden can shoot the 3 but are struggling with consistency. Once they get on track, the offense will be able to spread the opposing defense some allowing them to get the ball inside to the post players who can score. Scott County should be a decent test for the Lady Jackets.

Yeah, Elizabethton beat Kingston (2 seniors and the rest sophomores and freshman).

Does anyone know if Elizabethon has played any teams in the Knoxville area, if so, how did they do? What part of the state is Elizabethon located and who do they play during the regular season?

I was told the game was originally scheduled for 7:30 but its been changed to 4:30. It doesnt sound like Elizabethon is that young. Having 2 Seniors and "5" Juniors is pretty nice. Kingston has 2 Seniors, only one that will probably get significant time, the other one suffered a bad knee injury towards the end of last year and is questionable, one Junior who will also see limited time, 3 Sophomores that will play a lot and the rest are freshman. I think that classifies as a young team.

I thought Kingston played at 4:30 on Thursday. From what I've read about Elizabethon, Kingston will have a hard time Thursday. They are extremely young. Usually their staring lineup consists of 2 Seniors and 3 Sophmores. They have one Freshman that has been getting significant playing time and has the potential to earn a starting position. They have a couple point guards that are Freshman also who get a lot of time. From what I've seen and heard about the lady jackets, they are still 2 -3 years away from being pretty good. Thats if the young girls work hard and live up to their potential.

Kingston plays Elizabethton Thursday, does anyone know anything about them? From the comments I've read here on CoachT., they are suppose to be pretty good. Are they A, AA, or AAA?

I thought Kingston looked good against Coalfield. Gentry played well and Smith looked good also. I think Smith lead the lady Jackets with 16. I believe her and Gentry also did well on the boards. If Smith continues to contribute this way, I think her and Gentry can make a positive impact for the Lady Jackets this year. I believe they play again Thursday at McMinn Central around 5:00.

Powell (AAA I think) and Cleveland (AAA or AAAA) both beat them extremely bad. They also played Meigs County (AA) but I dont think Meigs played their Varsity, and we beat them bad. We didnt look very good. Threw the ball away over and over and over again. Had a couple Freshman play well. They play Coalfield Tuesday at Kingston at 5 p.m.

Yes, I realized after I mentioned Austin East that you said best AA in the County. Also, the only AA in Roane County. I'm looking forward to hearing how they do in Saturdays games. They also play next week in Kingston. Not sure when or who they play yet. I'm looking forward to hearing how the incoming Freshman perform and if they will be able to contribute this year. Someone definitely needs to step up because the girls from last year are small and they are going to need some help on the boards.
