  1. Wow! It's Thursday already....just one more day till "football time"! Lets go Tigers!!!
  2. Dont know--should I be able to tell?
  3. Go gotta go with my Tigers! If you jinxed us Wholder I'm gonna hunt you down and skin you alive! lol
  4. Its just a boom--although in years past we have had fireworks too. Yeah--the visitors side could definitely use some upgrades. At least we raised the bleachers---I've been to worse!
  5. There is Don Pepe's on the corner of Main Street and 1st Avenue--good Mexican food, there is also the Dari Gem right behind Don Pepe's on 1st Avenue--good burgers and chicken (sort of order and eat in your car type place), and then there is The Grill downtown on the square. All are great. Of course the ballpark food is pretty durn good too!
  6. Anyone know if the cannon, fireworks, tiger roar, and "Welcome to tha Jungle" are ready? I'm getting excited just thinking about it!!!
  7. I didn't count them the other night but there are definitely more than 24 players. Mt. Pleasant got caught in the "Race to the Top" net. We were fine under "No Child Left Behind" but fell short in some areas with the new education incentive. The Maury Co BOE was offered several solutions to help fix the problem and chose the one that eliminated the principal and assistant principal. Everything seems to be rocking along just fine under the new admin.
  8. Last I heard they changed the scrimmage time to 7:00. Makes sense--it's gonna be hotter'n hades!
  9. Even with phonics training that would be a hard one! Willie did great! lol
  10. That was a really good try--but it's McComiskey. lol
  11. Ninety-five percent? So, if the roster has 50 public school kids, then at least 48 have to go to a private school. I'll book that bet on the 95% conversion prediction. How much? How about a plus membership to CoachT? You win, I buy you one; you lose, you buy your own. PYMWYMI 48 is 96% of 50. You actually need 47.5 students of 50 to be recruited in order to make the 95% mark.
  12. Congrats to all of them! That senior class is chocked full of great kids!
  13. If you are going to have D-II then there should be a limit on how many kids can be on financial aid on the team (basically a scholarship rule)...otherwise, you are having a competitive advantage to the schools with huge endowments or financial backing that can bring in their own players.... Unless you are the EHS headmaster or the student finance officer you would not have knowledge of who gets financial aid. Or maybe you went up to all 15 players and ask them. But to come up with your "11 varsity players on financial aid" statement, you are just trying to start up the public vs. private debate, which by the way is on another COACH T board. Not one person receives 100% aid. The parents of the student are liable for the difference. An out of state clearing house determines who gets aid and how much. The application does not have a certain box to select of the sport the student plays. The school has no say. The TSSAA has periodic inspections to insure compliance. The DIVISION I (public) and DIVISION II (private) in Tennessee is the way the TSSAA wants it, so there is no mixing when it comes time for state tournaments. But what is the harm to allow DI and DII to play each other in the regular season? Unless you think everyone is on financial aid and that makes it unfair. The kid will stay at EHS......it is called a rumor! Are financial aid and scholarships the same thing? I know that lots of privates offer the type of financial aid that you are talking about--with the out of state clearinghouse--but some also offer scholarships from private scholarship funds. I also wondered if it is possible to get both? It is not called scholarship unless you are a private school basher. The financial aid comes from the school as well as funds raised through private donations from parents, alumni, and friends of the school. There is a max limit to disperse and it can change year to year. I definately didn't mean to offend. I have seen merit scholarship awards to students and have seen applications online on some school's websites. I just wondered if a student could get both--the merit scholarship (which requires different paperwork according to websites) and financial aid.
  14. So--cullypride--you have managed to interpret our silence --on a public fourm--as an admission of guilt on the part of a young player. You should, instead, have seen it for what it is--a sign of respect for that player and the program.

  16. What exactly did you hear that he "got away" with? I'm assuming that you "heard" and were not personally involved. You need to read my post again. I never mentioned anyone in paticular, did I? You are the one assuming now arent you? You are right--I'm sorry--I was wrong
  17. Can't win? I guess winning runner-up in district is not winning. Last I checked they all live in zone, including the twins and Demario who live less then 4 minutes from the school when they aren't playing for MTSU or Vol State respectively. Don't talk to me about integrity when this kid is stealing and getting in fights. Honestly, he should have missed the district and region tournaments for his actions. I can promise if he played for "Brucey" he wouldn't have been anywhere close to the floor. I don't know about that---I seem to remember some of Culleoka's players ended up at Alt. School a while back--while some of the more prominent players who were involved in the same incident remained at school. Integrity? Now while I admit I know very little about that situation--I do know how things that "look" one way--can be interpreted another.

  19. Poor behavior is poor bahavior no matter what age, but....age along with maturity can certainly change a person's ideas about priorities and hopefully curb impulsive reactions to situations. Each stage in life changes a person's outlook--therefore we grow and change as we age. Anybody who deals with kids will tell you that there is a HUGE difference in freshman behavior and senior behavior. Pass judgement on others if you must--but know that time and experience can and will change people.
  20. The kid's a freshman cullypride. I sure as heck wouldn't want that spotlight glare shining on what I did as a feshman! Cut him some slack!
  21. You might be interested in TyFry's post on the District 11 thread. He does a good job of explaining the suspension issue.
