  1. I don't know how much inside info you have on the subject but do you know what events he's planning on doing at state? Obviously 3 of the 5 you are talking about are decathlon and the 2 hurdles, then probably pole vault and what would be his last one?
  2. i feel like that is probably the best in the state at this point because bearden is probably the only school with lots of 800m runners without anyone good enough to make it to state in the 16. i'm not trying to be mean to bearden i'm just saying schools like fra, dl, ba, bhs, oak ridge, baylor, mccallie, etc. could all go much faster but have their top 800m runners going to state in the 16. ba has had clay adams go 156 and harper go 158 already. they could throw their JV kids in for the last 2 legs and still go under 8:10
  3. right but this thread is discussing the east sectional not the middle seeing as it hasn't happened yet. adrian bentley should win the 200m at state but byrum will make it interesting. and the west sectional is sure to have plenty of guys under 22, they always do
  4. agreed. gatlin clocked in a 3.8x in his workout with the texans. gatlin is amazing (lets forget about the steroids for a moment) but no one can go that fast in a 40y, unless it is handtimed by nfl scouts. i doubt it is humanly possible to go under 4.0 in a 40y with a computer time. either way, that shows you the huge disparity between what we think are the blazing fast nfl players and an olympic sprinter. the guys that we consider to be insanely fast in the nfl are still a half second off of a guy like gatlin and that's just in acceleration, comparing their top speed would be even worse
  5. i think jackie will end up getting way more than 10 and thats with the 4 event limit and not competing in the pent. so she can only win a maximum of 16. if there was no event limit she would probably be winning 6-8 in one year (100, 200, 400, 100HH, 300IM, LJ, and maybe a relay or two if she is extremely well conditioned)
  6. um im pretty sure the fastest in the nation are guy and nellum but im sure being 6'8 automatically makes an incredible sprinter i mean look at michael johnson and jeremy wariner and maurice green, they're all super tall arent they?
  7. same time jackie runs in the 100 except with hurdles in her way
  8. wow were they counting in their heads or something. no kid is going to just come out of nowhere to be one of the top 5 sprinters in US high school history i mean until 05 the national record was 10.15, this kid is probably an 11.2 fat runner at best but thats probably even a stretch. i'm going to hope this was a relay split because if someone is actually that slow with the stopwatch theres something wrong
  9. back it down, show a little humility. the 05 class was great. it had talent in just about every event, throws, jumps, vault, hurdles, sprints, distance, everything. i just don't see a romell gletten or an anderson skaggs in the 2010 class. and without that great 05 class winning state, half of the current freshman may not even be running track. and the 03 class was really solid as well, if ryan bailey had not been hurt he and richard barbour (sp?) would have scored 50+ pts alone not including everyone else and the relays. congrats to the freshman class, just don't get cocky. the greats rarely are, one of my favorite things about this sport
  10. if i remember correctly austin stopped after his sophomore year, i know he at least missed his senior year since he had already gotten his football scholarship
  11. i dont know about that. he would beat him only if they had javelin in tn. ayers would have beaten his own record this week by about 100pts if he had done what he usually does in the triple jump and the 400m. he will probably break his record at state, davies will then beat that in the summer when the javelin is implemented but i dont think that counts as the state record
  12. wasnt his older brother that beastly high jumper/sprinter that went to ut to play football?
  13. don't forget about dickenson (or dickerson i dont remember) from hamilton. he went 48.6 fat in the decathlon. you gotta think he can probably go under 48 fresh. if i remember correctly the 400m is the final day 1 event so he probably wasn't completely exhausted or anything but he wasn't fresh by any means. someone correct me if i am wrong because i am no dec. expert
  14. jackie coward has set a couple. gilreath got close in the 800m but not quite. i think thats it. kathy kroger isnt running this season so there wont be any records set in anything longer than the 8. i dont see michael ayers breaking his decathlon record from last year, i actually think davies might be better than him this year but thats another possibility. so basically the record possibilities are gilreath in the 8, ayers and davies in the dec, and any event coward feels like running
  15. handheld right? handheld times mean nothing in anything shorter than a 400m, its not even really worth looking at a handheld time if its shorter than a 400
  16. nice, just 2 seconds off rupp's 10k pace when he owned the college record just a few days ago
  17. you have to keep in mind that the course record is a little skewed because it only includes the people running the half marathon. the winner went 2:13 for the whole thing so at least one of his two half marathons had to be much faster than 1:09
  18. we know. the majority of the people on the coacht t&f boards know an insane amount about tn track so i'm pretty sure we all know about the best 400/800 runner in the state. would you like to inform us all about jackie coward now too? or maybe michael ayers or kroger or blair or davies, at the very least everyone in these boards knows about the tn runners that are ranked in the tops in the nation, and the majority of us know anybody of any significance at all in the state of tn
  19. because for some reason etownrunner thought i was being serious when i said i had never heard of gilreath a 46/1:50 runner ps gilreath is not a sprinter, he went 11.36 in the 100m this weekend with good competition. he is an amazing 400/800 runner and even a good 200 runner but he is not the fastest sprinter in tn, he doesnt run the 100m
  20. oh my god panthersroc please take this one for me because only your words can do this post justice
  21. thanks for the heads up. this is the first any of us have heard about him
  22. Lipscomb University grad and current assistant track and xc coach jonathan eckberg was the first american to finish and 10th overall in 2:28:51
  23. why has no one mentioned jacob rainey, i find his 10:01 an even more impressive freshman performance than carmichaels 4:34, well I would say they are about equal, it's tough to say
  24. nick ray went 2:01.15. only .19 seconds faster than his entered time. i'm sorry i mis-predicted that one and he only beat his turned in time by a little bit. johnson beat his turned in time by 20 seconds, helton beat his by 25 seconds, keveren beat his by 13 seconds. overall i think i was pretty much on with my predictions. 70-75% of the distance runners beat their entered times while only about 20% of the sprinters/field events managed to do that. i think my prediction was correct so i don't see your point
  25. TN record is 3:16.21 set in 02 by cordova. you don't see a lot of super fast 4x4s in tn because of the meet schedule. 200m and 4x4 are back to back instead of having the 32 in between them like in most states. we have the 32 at the beginning. because of that, a lot of the top sprinters are running the 2 instead of the 4x4
