  1. mlk is in nashville so i am assuming they are running the nashville city meet like they do every year. its one of the biggest meets of the year
  2. plenty of tenth graders running 1:59. the 400m time u see less of in tn but outside of tn there are plenty
  3. i'm gonna assume he is asking for guys because grade is really not a factor in girls track. i would go with riley young for the best sophomore in the state as far as distance goes. not too sure about sophomores in the sprints or field
  4. in pure foot speed james is the faster of the two. chris is a much better 400/200 runner but james would easily win in a 100m which would make him the faster of the two. if by faster you meant to say better runner then i would agree, chris is the better runner, he is better at his events than james was at his
  5. hahaha its funny cuz sprinters put in false times that are way too fast, distance runners but in times way slower than what they have run like that 2:04, nick ray turned in a 2:01, johnson turned in a 10:12 for the 32, keveren turned in a 4:31, thats gotta big the biggest lie on the whole list, and there are plenty of other examples
  6. i will be there as long as my practice is over soon enough
  7. well look at the title of the thread. we were not making predictions for state, you can go to the a/aa state prediction thread for that. and i guess some people do care about the great 8 hince the thread. there have been some really nasty things happening at great 8 over the last few years (gj's 1:52, hewitt's 47.99, lauren stewart's hj, tj, sp, etc., buky (sp) and lauren stewart in the 110s, krishna's 2:12, divinnie's 9:14, etc.) but i don't see this being a year where anything like those happens
  8. um they dont have relays at the great 8 and almost all your predictions are competitors outside of middle tn....
  9. i think nick ray will win as the top returner from last year in the state (not including the great one of course) and the reason we don't talk about any events outside of distance is because no one turns in real times for sprints or field events. it always becomes a really big joke to see who is the biggest liar. chances are half the guys in the sprints and field events shouldn't be there
  10. the case has never been taken to the supreme court before....
  11. as far as teams go it looks like the usual suspects: mitchell, trezevant, mlk, dl, brainerd, etown, etc. those are the teams i would list as the top 2 in each section but it is kind of an off year all over the state so like last year it will probably really be up for grabs at state in a/aa
  12. if hoover runs the mile i would put him 2nd. he and helton are both in the the 32 also so we dont really have any way to know what events people will actually run. the 32 is going to be johnson all by himself because mr mahaney wants to run the mile. maybe annekan will give him some competition but it looks like he's having a down year so far. he should be way faster than what he has been running. does this seem like a really down year to anyone? i remember two years ago romell got last in the mile with a 4:27.... and there were 2 or 3 guys under 9:30 in the 32 and everybody under 9:50 except for i think daniel jones went like 9:55 cuz he had just gone 4:21 in the 16. and all of that was without the ba runners because the guys never seem to run great 8 even though the girls usually do and jordan wilson (dl) had a stress fracture. i mean just imagine what that field would have been for the 16: bumbi, abtahi, baker, divinnie, rodewald, gletten, pair, jones, wilson, adams, ray, koko. that is just sick. man i miss the glory days. then in the 8 running over 2 at the great 8 was unspeakable and now there is only one guy with a time under 2 turned in. oh and does anyone know if ba is going to be able to compete at state this year with their recruiting case being taken to the supreme court and all that it isn't a team event where points are scored. it is just a showcase of the top distance runners in middle tn. the sprints and field events on the other hand are a toss up depending on how ridiculous the coaches decide to get with the times
  13. 1:58 still not phenomenal for high school. in a lot of states that doesn't even get you to region much less state
  14. haha phenomenal? phenomenal is a 1:50 not a 1:58 or whatever it was that those guys ran in high school. i get to see the one that runs for etsu all the time (well only for like the first mile cuz then i pass him, he always goes out too hard in cross, 8ks are definately not his strong suit) and i dont think he's ever done much better than 1:56/49, something along those lines, not too phenomenal for a junior in college
  15. i'm convinced that etownrunner21 is really an fra guy just pretending to be an etown runner and typing up the dumbest posts to ever grace the coacht forums just for our amusement
  16. clay adams did it, and ryan johnson and sean keveren did it last year, like you said there are like a million more because tn has been really deep with young talent recently, those were just a couple of the ones that came to me really quick and kathy kroeger will do it this year.... and coniglio is right if you haven't heard of bumbalough especially in tn then you really should have your coacht account terminated or something, nobody that runs track doesnt know who that is. he is one of the most famous high school distance runners of all time
  17. hahaha i'm pretty sure etown can put up at least 40-50 points so i doubt that and i would like to see what sophomores this guy saw go under 10 in the 100 since the high school record for all grades is a 10.08
  18. what about edelman who went 934 in the same meet berry went 924 and gilreath went 1:51.39, is he gonna get a chance with good competition to break the record? NON maybe or the distance carnival?
  19. vaughn went 10.64 in 05... i think thats faster than 10.77 but i could be wrong, bigger numbers might be faster
  20. it was a high 57-low 58. i would hope that someone in a/aa can do that but it does seem like a really weak year
  21. saw gj run at the bama relays, even if he hadn't graduated he wouldnt win state... 3200: Clabo - 9:37 (will be the only person to run a faster 3200 than my 5k pace) 1600: Johnson - 4:26 800: Patterson - 1:57 4x8: DL - 7:58 (if everyone runs it, but since top guys will be running the 16 it will probably just be like 8:10)
  22. hahaha you should see the mlk freshman 4x4. if they run just their freshman its still around 3:35
