  1. Could you have been more wrong? All that hype for that "big, strong line" of BC..... The "manhandlers"...apparently pushing around a barbell is easier than pushing around a Wildcat. Great game by both sides, only one turnover, and it was at the end of the half, that says alot for week 0 and the fact that the field was wet. Limited penalties from both squads, (it would be nice to see BC eventually make it through a game without an unsportsmanlike penalty) Good luck to both teams
  2. Coach J, you just trying to throw off the scouting report? Or give them Cubbies hope? What's the latest on BC's senior QB? Are the Bears going to have to face them country boys with a freshman running the show?
  3. A "haters" opinion is just as insightful as a "lovers" opinion, both may be a little skewed. No hate, just not a fan, Charlie thinks there's a difference... This is the same hype from every fall since Floyd has been there.....Yes Bradley is big, they always are. Yes Bradley has a speedy back or two, they always do, and yes they will lose 6 - 8 games,, just like every other year.... But to show some "love", BC does look improved, but they have a tougher than average schedule,,Charlie just doesn't think the Bears can win just becuase they have big linemen. The problem will be inconsistent QB play, and inexperienced backfields...You lost 95% of your offensive production! That is huge!
  4. It's funny how in all previous seasons, the consensus from Bradley fans would be that "scrimmages don't really mean anything", now they schedule some weak competition, Hixson?, Silverdale?,, and all of the sudden it means everything. I agree that scrimmages only tell you a little, especially after 2 hours. And I promise you BC only scored 1 TD in the first two hours of the 5 way on the 31st. That was against M.Central (Did Loudon scrimmage M. Central? How did that turn out?). Maybe after 2 hours you "punched" it in, maybe in goal line situations? Or against 2's and 3's, because no coaches run their 1's for more than 2 hours in a fall scrimmage....This is the same song Bradley fans sing every August since "D-Flo" showed up, and the results are always the same,,,if you guys still had the Lindsey transfers, this might be a different year,,but you don't and it won't. Charlie wants to add a disclaimer before he's "labeled" - I'm not necessarily a Polk fan, more of a Bradley non-fan......A guardian of truth, protecter of the innocent, rejecter of the "Kool-aid".....
  5. Yes, I was aware of that. But East Ridge did participate and none of the teams that day manhandled any other team. And it wasn't like BC was moving the ball then ran out of plays based on the format. They didn't move the ball except one series against McMinn Central. My point was Bradley has not "manhandled" every team they have scrimmaged....Nor did any team, on the 31st, "handle" East Ridge like Polk did (according to the CDB)......
  6. That would be the five way scrimmage with South Pitt, Boyd Buch, McMinn Central, and East Ridge (the same East Ridge that Polk dominated the next week). The scrimmage where BC had five offensive series of 10 plays and scored 1 TD. Is that "manhandling"? They didn't handle anybody that day.....
  7. What time is the scrimmage Friday, Charlie may ease up that way? Says 6pm here, but I'm also hearing 5pm?
  8. Anybody go? Charlie heard it was pretty one-sided. I heard 6-1, Polk. Anybody?
  9. Interesting. Does Loudon scrimmage again before the JAmboree? If so, when and where?
  10. First of all, I never mentioned that BC was "bad", but I understand the BC fan mentality to jump to that conclusion. I watched the same scrimmage that you watched, the difference being I was looking through the eyes of an impartial spectator and you were looking through your black/gold tinted glasses. In the first hour and half, there was one TD scored on the big field, BC scored on MC. So BC had more TD's, than any of the schools, on the big field (I didn't really keep up with the practice field sessions). So I guess all the D's were solid, because none of the offenses dis much. Bears also led category of turnovers, 4 I think, and pretty sure penalties. It was a scrimmage and I would say none of the teams really seperated themselves or opened up the play book. South Pitt looked more athletic than any of the rest but looked out of sync, Bradley had the size advantage but slow, Central's D1 QB prospect was unimpressive, Boyd Buch really left no impression at all. The bears have no passing game, they have big slow linemen, inexperienced backfield, yeah JD "started" most games last year, but C. Lindsey took as many snaps as JD. Polk will be smaller of course, there's no way they can be slower than this Bradley team. Charlie says that Polk will probably be the team with gas in the tank in the second half. I know you BC fans are sensitive, but all this is just opinion, so don't take it personal. Hasn't Bradley JV played Polk JV the past 2 - 3 years? How did those games turn out? No matter what your opinion, the good thing is,,we'll find out in about 14.5 days.
  11. After seeing BC scrimmage Friday against South Pitt, Boyd Buc, McMinn Central, and East Ridge, Charlie would give the nod to Polk, if Polk has any mobility whatsoever. Bradley was big, but SLOW, extremely slow off the ball. They have no backs like they had last year, and still no passing game to speak of. They have one kid that can outrun some folks if he gets in the open, but I don't see it happening.
  12. McMinn Central had no size. Unless some of the players were absent. Did they lose alot of linemaen to graduation?
  13. Head coach is Danny Wilson, he has had some success against MAryville when he coached Heritage. (Was that before GQ?) Cleveland has several players to watch, but the QB is the best athlete on the field, both sides, no matter who the opponent is. And he will hit you, asked that kid from Rhea, he probably doesn't remember though. If you get a game like they played against Rhea it may be close, if they play like they did against Walker Valley, go ahead and plan for round 2.
  14. Good luck to all of 4-4A. And remember Rhea posters, no matter what happens, it's still 41 -7.
  15. Yeah, that caller also stated that "Cleveland didn't really play that well", so I wouldn't put to much stock in that person's ability to evaluate anything related to football.
  16. As long as it wasn't running the ball,,,35 yards rushing, total!
  17. This game should be as exciting as last years. Some stats from their five common opponents. Average pts scored, Central 41 - Polk 26 Average allowed, Central 9 - Polk 0 The Meigs game stands out for Central, 55- 0 compared to 18 - 0 for Polk. The East Ridge game stands out for Polk, 21 -0 compared to a last minute FG win for Central. Polk hasn't seen an offense like Central's and Central hasn't seen a defense like Polk's. I think the loss of Jackson hurts a little more than Central fan's would like to admit. Good Luck and it would be nice to keep this thread civil.....
  18. If Notre Dame, Sequoyah, and East Ridge end up 4-4 in the region, then East Ridge gets the fourth spot. 6-4 overall record is 2nd tiebreaker. If the 3 top teams in 3-3A all end up 7-1, Central would be 9-1, Polk would be 9-1, and Howard would be 8-2,,,does tiebreaker #2 put Howard at 3rd, then Polk/Central head to head determines 1st and 2nd? Or does #1 have to be determined first? In which case it would go to tiebreaker #3, and Central's win over Loudon would put them at #1? Which is it?
  19. Isn't Polk 6-1 against Meigs in the past 7 years?
  20. I keep reading about all the athletes that Central has, but I also read somewhere (coachT or paper) that with the dismissal, the QB would have to go both ways. If there are that many athletes seems like the coaches could find a safety other than the using the QB.
  21. T-Mac if you are referring to me about the 5 downs, please go back and read my post, I stated that it had no affect on the outcome of the game. BUt if you want to talk about it, why don't you give us your opinion of the "injury" stoppage of the clock with 10 seconds to go in the half, not that it was a bad call, or a referees mistake. Just very convenient. Let me state again, I wasn't taking anything away from Howard with my original post, just curious. I think this game could have gone either way with a different bounce here or there. Howard and Polk should be 1 and 2 in 3-3A.
  22. I was at the game also, and the stereotype of Polk having no speed needs to be put to rest. There were plays where Polk outran Howard and plays where Howard outran Polk. And plays where Polk ran down Howards palyers and Howard ran down Polk's players. It was just a great game. The rest of the region will have their hands full with both the Tigers and the Wildcats. This was a very well played, disciplined game on both sides. Just a question, not that it really affected the game, but did Howard get 5 downs when they were deep in their own territory on the South end, it was during the series with the option play that was blown dead for the QB's knee being down? Howard ended up punting, just gave them an extra play to get some breathing room for the punt,,,,if it was 5 downs....Did anybody else think it was 5?
  23. Charlie watched Polk scrimmage Cleveland, BAylor , and William Blount, and more than held their own against all three. Outplaying both Baylor and Cleveland. Cleveland is picked to win 4-4A, so what does that do to your theory TigerPride?
  24. T-Mac, I was just going by what was on ND's website, 2007 roster has #2 Michael Bowman, 9th grade. http://www.notredamechattanooga.com/athlet...ball/roster.htm But either way,,,is he playing in GA this season?
