  1. Are you referring to the Mike Bowman that will be a senior at Ridgeland? I don't think Michael Bowman who will be a sophmore at ND is his brother,,,,,I could be wrong. Just seems odd that both would be named Mike, I guess they could be step. Mike Bowman from Ridgeland is the brother of Adarius who played at Notre Dame HS.
  2. "and Red Bank a 4A Region Champ that gave Maryville all they wanted last year". You were doing good until the last part of that statement. Maryville 52 - Red Bank 20. You may want to check your facts before you question others.
  3. Polk has a good team, that just seem to mesh well together. They don't have any monsters but they execute the fundamentals and most the time they are where they need to be to make a block or make a stop. They have average speed, a few kids can take it to the house if they get a couple steps on you, thier RB's are a good mix of shifty cutters and straight forward ground and pound. They are a fundamentally sound group, that is well coached, and have great sportsmanship. The kicker/punter is excellent, Polk has never really had the luxury of a good placekicker, punters have come and gone, but this kid is the real deal. Polk fans travel well and alot of times outnumber the home team, (I know that won't happen this week, but we will make a good showing) As for you yeehaw, I was born and raised in Polk, I wore the red and blue, I'm not a Central transplant that trys to prove my loyalty by bashing the Chargers on a message board, Charlie bashed them on the field! I know you will have to get the last word, so bring it, but Charlie is done with your BS.
  4. I don't know when it started, don't really care, but you "yeehaw" and a few others make sure it keeps going. Charlie Murphy's all about smack talk, and it's all well and good, for awhile, until ya'll start using the thread like your own personal instant messaging. Eight pages is enough, Let it go! All of us Polk fans aren't like yeehaw or that fool with his shirt off at the gate Friday night. (If you were at ND, you know what I mean) Charlie Murphy likes nothing more than to see McMinn Central lose, but right now, I am a 3-3A fan and I'm just hoping the 4-3A broom stays put away. So white house has some big boys, I noticed one going 6'7'' 330? Nice. I don't think Polk will try to run through them like was stated earlier, more like run around them. Should be a good game, that long ride may take a toll on the Cats. No matter who comes out on top, it won't be a blow out. Charlie's going with Polk.
  5. Does anyone know where the Polk vs White House thread went? This seems to be Whiny Polk Fans vs. Whiny Central Fans........ Anybody want to talk about the football game?
  6. I know kids improve from year to year so this is in no way trying to diminish Mason as an athlete, was he the QB in the round 1 , defensive struggle, with Polk last year? And Pearl had a big WR last season, is he still there? Check out this clip, watch the Pearl kid close in for the tackle. http://www.polkcountywildcats.com/Football...8rswafford.html
  7. Charlie Murphy is going with Howard in this one. This should be a great game, with some great players. Who played QB for Pearl last season in round 1 when Polk Co. held them to 6 points? As far as fans go, Howard will fill their side, they may roll in, during the first quarter, but they will be there.
  8. That would not be good for Polk! Just beat Greenbrier, and then maybe we will see 4 quarters from both.
  9. At this point in the season, we should all be 3-3A fans, IMO. Congratulations on your Region Championship* ! Plus, Charlie Murphy wants you to see what 42 - 14 feels like, in round 2, when Polk plays the 3rd and 4th like they played the 1st and 2nd. But lets take one thing at a time, and it does hurt, but "Go Chargers".
  10. If you think Central doesn't have a playmaker at QB then you will be very suprised Friday night. The QB is very mobile and can evade the rush and maintain his composure enough to find an open WR. Central is very versatile, they came out against Polk in the 2nd half and ran the wishbone for about 7 yards a pop. Don't be suprised if this one gets out of hand, advantage MC. And Central is very opportunistic, just ask Polk.
  11. The Polk team that WH played in 2005 was alot more one dimensional than this years team. This polk team is very well balanced. I agree with some others, it is difficult to predict when both teams come from large regions with not much of a chance for non region games. Closest I could find was Alcoa beat WH and Sweetwater by about the same score, Polk was beaten by Sweetwater in a close game. This Polk team has had some tough losses (3 losses, total of 6 points) Maybe Friday night was a sign that their luck is changing. As far as kickers, I doubt White House has a better kicker, maybe as good, same for punting, Hammons from Polk has punted 15 times and his average is right at 45 yards... This should be a great game,,,hopefully region 3 will give a better showing this year,,,, Nobody knows who will win this one, so why guess, I'm pulling for Polk and any prediction would be purely heart. On another note, On Yahoo Maps, I see a football field just off of hwy 76 (springfield rd) , about 1 mile east of I-65, on Stadium Dr. Is that the field? http://maps.yahoo.com/broadband#mvt=h&...72081&mag=3
  12. I think Polk, Howard, and Central are all on the same level, with the winner being a toss-up on any given Friday night. Does Howard have any type of kicking game? Stop a two point conversion and you have an advantage. If Central plays like they did against Polk in the 2nd half and Howard plays like they did against Polk (which are the only games Charlie has seen of theese teams) Then Central wins and claims their Region Title*. If Central plays like they did the first half against Polk, then Howard wins. Charlie Murphy says Central wins. The over/under should be about 70 on this one, and I'll take the over. 41 - 36
  13. I was watching and there was no stomping on the logo, unless you consider running across it to get to the celebration disrespectful. It didn't happen! There was a Central coach standing on the logo making sure that the players kept the celebration at the 40. This thread is about Polk versus Notre Dame!
  14. There was nothing innapropriate about the Central kids celebration, atleast from what I saw. Lets hope Polk can come out fired up against Notre Dame, sometimes a loss like the Central game can really deflate a team.
  15. Smokey, if you actually knew half of what you think you know, then you might be able to carry on an adult conversation without all the 3rd grade name calling. Congratulations on a well played game, Like you had anything to do with it, and good luck with Howard, who Charlie Murphy actually thinks you will beat and get that Region Championship*. Charlie is more of a region 3-3A fan. But I will be in "Englewah" in 3 weeks to watch Polk and Central hook up in round two. I believe 3-3A may have something for 4-3A this year.
  16. Charlie doesn't want to hijack your thread,,so a quick answer to this question,,, 3-3A 1st Howard vs McMinn Central winner 2nd Howard vs MCMInn Central loser If Polk beats Notre Dame 3rd Polk , 4th Meigs If Polk Loses and Meigs wins 3rd Meigs, 4th Notre Dame If Polk loses and Meigs Loses 3rd Notre dame, 4th Polk Good Luck the rest of the way in 4-3A,,,we'll see you guys in 2 weeks.
  17. If Polk wins they are 3rd, and Meigs is 4th, whether they win or lose. If Polk loses, and Meigs wins, then Meigs gets 3rd based on total victories, and then it reverts back to head to head between ND and Polk, ,,,so ND is 4th. If Polk loses and Meigs loses it is ND 3rd and PC 4th.
  18. I didn't think it would take long to hear "we did it on purpose"! I guess I would say that too, after the fact, but the fact that it was 3rd and 8, and Central had stuffed Polk on 1st and 2nd down, Charlie Murphy finds that a little hard to believe. If you had stopped them on that play, you have gotten the ball back. So, good effort in trying to claim "coaching genius", but I believe most fans will be like Charlie Murphy and call BS on that statement. Canadien, we all saw the play, you guys weren't letting him score. Either way, congratulations on the win, now see what you can do with Howard, let's hope Polk can recoup and take care of Notre Dame, then it may be that we can do it all over again with #3 Polk and Region Champs* McMinn Central in round 2.
  19. This was a good game, and by the way smokey, no more wrong with a sore loser than there is with a lousy winner. Of course we understand that you aren't used to winning and don't really know how to act. As far as domination and your "great" backs,,,here is the breakdown by YARDS PER CARRY Slack (MC) 13 for 77 , 5.9 Yards per carry Walker (MC) 17 for 89 , 5.2 Yards per carry RAby (PC) 11 for 105, 9.5 yards per carry Stevens (PC) 11 for 76, 6.9 yards per carry Who should be the 3-3A back of the week? Polk had 235 yards rushing on 35 carries, Central had 205 yards on 50 rushes....Central didn't dominate the line of scrimmage. You can't argue the stats. Your team made a great comeback, hit two or three big pass plays, and would have lost the game if they could have tackled Polks running back when he broke the TD run on 3rd and 8 with about 1 minute to go. WHo knew scoring a TD could be a bad thing? Polk beat you the first half, Central beat polk the 2nd half, and Central beat polk by 1 inch in OT. As far as the comment about if Central had played the 1st half like they did the second they would have blown Polk out,,probably,,,but the same thing can be said for polk and the first half. It was an awesome game, which would be nice to see again,,so Chargers beat Howard (which you can do), take your region title (*), Polk can take 3rd, and lets just agree to do it again in 3 weeks up in Etowah,,,that will be great for 3-3A. The top four teams in this region are very close, lets just hope its better than 4-3A.
  20. I'm not an idiot and definitely not your friend. I don't understand that "dominated the line of scrimmage" only means on the opponents end of the field? I don't understand that. You said Central dominated the line of scrimmage against Meigs, but the reason they scored 36 was because they were starting on the 50 all night. MAybe I don't understand, because I figured if you dominate the line it doesn't matter where the ball is spotted.
  21. This should be a good game,,but I say Polk wins going away,,,Central will be down in the fourth and start picking fights, letting their true blue show. Smokey, you gonna have to come up with a lot of excuses in about 11 hours. Your football logic is astounding, a few examples; Central has 7 guys that can score, (unfortunatley there is only one ball. ) Central dominated the line of scrimmage against Meigs, yet gave up 36 points, but it was because the game was actually 6 quarters long (doesn't that affect both teams?), and Meigs started with good field position, (So you only dominate on half of the field?) Once again, this should be a good game, a great atmosphere, but Smokey you may want to start working on your concession speech. And GATAsquad, you ain fooling nobody,,,keep up the good work.
  22. You have it correct. And even if Central's win over Grundy counts, it still is the same. Because the 3rd tiebreaker is wins over teams with non-losing records (5 or more wins). Since everyone plays the same region teams, it basically goes to each teams non region games, Howard has the only non region victory over a winning team, Brainerd. (However I believe Bledsoe could end up with a winning record, Oliver Springs cannot) Therefore Howard is #1, then it reverts back to head to head, Polk #2 , Central #3... Same thing if Bledsoe ends up with 5-5, Howard's win over a 7-3 Brainerd (most likely), would give them the advantage in the next tie breaker also. (Most wins by all opponents)
  23. Central dominated the line of scrimmage, in a 41 - 36 game? Do you mean Central's offensive line? I guess that means Meigs O-line dominated too! What is that 5 TDs that Central gave up to Meigs? I understand that Central has improved, but if you think there was any domination in a 41 - 36 football game then you need to get your head out of them baby blue clouds! Central has improved, but honestly, could they have went down any further? Polk's defense will be the toughest test your mighty offense has faced all season. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
  24. Technically, your not, there are no ties, first tie breaker is total victories, Howard has 7, Central has 6. Technically speaking. And technically speaking, if you get a forfeit victory over Grundy, you still lose the 2nd tie breaker. Anyway it will be determined on the field. What is the official status of the Central vs. Grundy game?
  25. 218 yards rushing and the game winning TD is a pretty solid night. As far as Central putting up big numbers against every other opponent, I think Loudon might question that statement, but I'm sure it was ref's, or suspensions, or something other than Loudon just shut the Chargers down. Facts are MC averages just under 32 pts per game, Polk averages just over 28 pts per game. Facts are MC gives up just over 15 pts per game, Polk gives up just over 11 pts per game. The schedules are pretty even, except that Polk has played the current #1 in 3-3A, Central hasn't. All this adds up to a really good game, between two pretty matched teams, with Polk having the home field advantage, defensive advantage, and kicking advantage.
