  1. Is this all you have to talk about. It seems like every year about this time people start talking about how bad of a coach Keith Elliott is. Again, I don't think you know his track record. All but one year of his head coaching career has he failed to make it to the region tournament. And no, McMinn County doesn't have some of the best talent in the district year in and year out. Bradley and Cleveland do. That is obvious. McMinn has had some good talent, but not nearly what these other two do. In response to the comment about parents: Parents are the entire problem of high school athletics today. If they would keep their mouths shut and let the kids play and coaches coach, then there would be fewer problems for all. And by the way, I don't recall Coach Elliott throwing the ball away in the last 30 seconds against Red Bank to lose the game in the region semi-finals last year. If it hadn't have been for that bone-head play, McMinn would have been playing in the sub-state for the first time since '91. Get back to me at the end of the year when McMinn is playing in the region semi-finals AGAIN!!!
  2. I think it will come down to Bradley and McMinn Co. again this year. They look to be the strongest this year. Both teams are big!!! Bradley has 6'7 and 6'10 along with Oglesby (need I say more). McMinn has three guys over 6'6. Nobody else in that district will be able to compete with their size. Not to mention the good guards each team has. Cleveland has a big guy and some other good players, but they lost 4 of their 5 starters last year. That is going to hurt. They will be competitive though. Walker Valley has plenty of good shooters, but they don't have much size. I'm not sure what Rhea Co. or Cumberland Co. has. 1. Bradley / McMinn (just depends on who shows up) 3. Cleveland 4. Walker Valley 5. Rhea Co. 6. Cumberland

    TSSAA rules

First of all, the TSSAA is getting ridiculous with all of their rules. Not only is this a bad rule (if it is still a rule), but a lot of their rules are questionable. What about keeping the chains 6 feet off of the playing field? I know we have to have rules, but I believe some of them need rethinking. Secondly, this is high school. Let the kids have fun. If they want to play their instruments, let them play. And last, I know we need good sportsmanship, but this entire country has become so freaking politically correct that it is now filtering into high school football games. This rule takes away from one of the best things about high school football, the band playing and getting the crowd into the game. This is not bad sportsmanship. It is simply kids doing what they love while trying to support their team at the same time.
  4. Walker Valley wins it in a close one. It should be a good game. Cleveland by 30? Have you been watching the same Cleveland team I have been watching?
  5. They should beat them, depending on how they play. Cumberland is not nearly as good as they were last year. McMinn has better talent all the way around, and they should come out on top.
  6. Polk won't score 100 on them this year. Sweetwater is much improved. I probably have to go with Polk, though. But it is a much closer game than last year's game.
  7. Polk won't score 100 on them this year. Sweetwater is much improved. I probably have to go with Polk, though. But it is a much closer game than last year's game.
  8. District is at Bradley. The region is in Chattanooga, just not sure which school. McMinn by 10.
  9. That a baby Hampton. Coach McClain is the man!!!!!!!
  10. 1. Central 2. Brainerd 3. Tyner 4. Boyd 5. Meigs 6. Sequoyah 7. Tellico 8. Polk 9. Sweetwater I haven't seen the Chattanooga teams play, but I have seen everybody else. Central is number 1 until proven different. Brainerd will be the only team that can compete with them. Watch out for Meigs, though. They could be the dark horse.
  11. You're right. Stopping those two will be the key to McMinn winning this game. And for anybody who doesn't think McMinn can run with Cleveland...you're crazy!!
  12. McMinn Central will probably break the 100 point mark if they want to. Polk has no chance. Central in a runaway.
  13. I believe you would pick an elementary school team to beat McMinn. Why are you always against the Tribe? By the way, did you see the score last night? McMinn 83 Ooltewah 48. Granted, the Owls aren't as good as they have been in the past, but that is a pretty impressive win. McMinn over Cleveland both games this year.
  14. Baylor wins it in a close one. Bradley is solid this year, but they are not like they have been in years past. They definitely have some weaknesses. They will definitely be in trouble if Oglesby is not hitting. He is their catalyst. If he is off, it could be a long night for the Bears.

    JV Games

You should always play to win, no matter whether you are playing JV, Varsity, or pick up sticks. If you don't play to win, then I believe you are cheating your players. True, JV does not really matter except to develop players, but the kids want to win. As far as players who are not very good, they should play only if the opportunity arises. If they want playing time, they should go to the YMCA.
