  2. If this is the case, it's actually a huge advantage to be the 1 seed because you would be guaranteed a region berth without even having to play a game. Semi finals would still likely be the 1vs4 so really the bye is the only change. No disadvantage at all!
  3. Sorry. I should've been more clear. I meant the schools that put these tournaments on do it to raise money. The teams playing obviously do it to improve.
  4. If that were the case there would've been no Jackson or clarkrange in this one. And they do these tournaments to raise money. Without those big gate teams, guess what? No money. Meaning no tournament. So, take it or leave it I guess.
  5. I don't know the situation here but I believe it would have been agreed upon on he front end of coming to the tourney that Jackson wouldn't play those two with both of them being on the regular season schedule. That's not an unusual request and usually the host school agrees upon that to get teams that will bring good crowds in the tournament. It's very normal.
  6. Clarkrange over Oneida by 15-20 points. Especially at home.
  7. I agree. New systems are difficult to learn sometime. But, you have to remember that you had a very good team last year, but a large part of that was one very, very good player. I mean she did lead the Upper Cumberland in assists by a pretty decent margin and also was the leading scorer on White County by a pretty decent margin as well. That is not easily replaced. Add to that the fact that several other starters and key contributors also graduated and you could expect a learning curve for this year. Coach Dodgen will have this team turned around and playing extremely well by the tournament time. Always does. Good coaches know when their team needs to peak and he will make it happen.
  8. Lost some players?? If by some you mean your top 4 or 5....including by far the best player on the floor last year then yep...you're right. Also that same team beat Pickett by 12 later in the year last year. Be realistic. This team at white county isn't what it was last year because of the personally. Coach Dodgen does an excellent job and it won't be long before the people of white county are singing his praises. Cannon county wasn't by accident all those years. Good luck to WC the rest of the way
  9. 85-75 final with smith county over Pickett county.

  17. Quite possibly the best basketball game that you will ever see. Anyone that was there last night can probably attest to that. Tension was high all night for both teams and fan bases. Both teams played really well, and never gave up. It was what you hope to see in a great high school atmosphere! Three overtimes, three game extending buzzer beaters....it was the best girls game that most people will see I would think. I was privileged enough to watch Livingston Academy boys beat Station Camp when Jenkins was a junior in the region semis, Upperman beat Station Camp when John Jenkins was a senior in the region semis, Pickett girls beat Jackson in the region semis, etc....and this game topped all of those. A great night of basketball in the Upper Cumberland, which I believe is the BEST place to watch girls basketball in the country!
  18. What's every ones projections on the four first round games? I'm going with: LA over York by 20 Cannon county over smith county by 8 Macon county over central magnet by 4 (Macon finally puts it together) Upperman over dekalb county by 4 (won't be surprised for this one to go the other way) Just my guesses on this one. What does everyone else think?
  19. I may be wrong about this but I think the 7A District Tournament schedule will be: Tuesday 3/10- Play in games for the 4/5 seed girls followed by boys Thursday 3/12- Girls Semifinal Games Friday 3/13- Boys Semifinal Games Monday 3/16- Girls consolation and finals Tuesday 3/17- Boys consolation and Finals Region Tournament first round should be Friday 3/20 (girls) and Saturday 3/21 (boys) Could be wrong but I think that is how it should be.
  20. Tennessee Rush Tryouts for Grades 3-8 will be Saturday Feb. 28, 2015 at Livingston Baptist Church in Livingston, TN!!! The times for those tryouts are as follows: 3rd Grade girls: 12-1 PM 4th Grade girls: 10-11 AM 5th Grade girls: 10-11 AM 6th Grade girls: 11-12 PM 7th Grade girls: 11-12 PM 8th Grade girls: 12-1 PM Feel free to contact Coach Matt Ferrell at 931-510-8835 or tennesseerush@gmail.com for more information or questions regarding tryouts. Also follow the website for additional updates and information on the Tennessee Rush program. The website is www.tennesseerush.webs.com!
  21. What are the district matchups going to most likely be? There should be some interesting go or go home matchups to start the district tournament if I am correct. #1/#2 Upperman/LA depending on who wins that game next week #3 Central Magnet #4 Smith County #5 Cannon County #6 Macon County #7 Dekalb County #8 York Is this the correct order or how is it?
  22. You are correct. She was the UC Freshman of the Year as published in the Herald-Citizen. To someone else's point earlier, Jayna Ferrell was the District 7-A Freshman of the year that same year.
  23. From the upper Cumberland top players would be: Single A: Lakelyn Bouldin- van Buren county Double A: Callie Hackett- smith county Triple A: Bella Taylor- white county Not sure on all their stats but each of these are great players that really Make their teams go.
  24. Hands down MVP. If anyone else geta a vote (other than smith county's who can't vote for their own) then they need to do away with entire award. If she's not a miss basketball finalist I would be floored. One of the best players that's been through the UC in a long, long time. Fun to watch. Prayers for a Speedy recovery and a great college career.
