  1. There was a girl on TN TEAM PRIDE that I was pretty impressed with this weekend. I think last name was Hale. She was a pretty good shooter, and hurt us more than any player we played I believe. Good athlete, good shooter, and good team...had it all i guess.
  2. Thanks for hosting such a great tournament, and also thanks for the updates.
  3. Just wondering what the order of finish was for all the teams in 10u? Also, what were the semifinals and finals scores, who won 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th etc. Thanks for the information. Also I believe the TN TROTTERS AND TN LADIES are 5th and 6th and get bids to nationals can anyone confirm that as well. Thanks alot. Also, I just wanted to let the people at Memphis know that I personally thought they put on an excellent tournament. In our game the clock keepers were not great and there were some calls that we wish had gone another way, but that could be said for all the teams there I would say. From some of the Memphis games I seen, they did not get any more calls, etc then anyone else. I just wanted to let Memphis and Gordon know that we thought they did an awesome job hosting this state tournament. It was a long long drive for us but also I would not mind making the drive again. We had a good experience, although we did not play to our potential, and would not mind going to Memphis again for another state tourney.
  4. Also just wanted to say congratulations to LA on an awesome season. It has been a LONG, LONG time since I have seen a boys basketball program in our area bring that much excitement to the court, and that is something to definitely be proud of. I know there are already several anticipating next years season (and I am one of them!!!). Congrats to the seniors, who will definitely be missed. Also wanting to reply to RUP11, todd probably can play some small school ball, maybe he will give it a go, but one thing is certain, if he can, Coach melton I am sure will get him there. To next years team, now that you know how HARD it is to get to the Boro, all LA fans I think are expecting nothing less that that next year. TJ improved tremendously over the past year, as did Kendall Melton and OF course the stud Jr. class is returning, and hopefully all of you guys are going to work really hard this summer so we can FINALLY see that GOLD BALL at LA.
  5. By you saying that their game was brought when they played you, I am going to assume that you are someone from another team in the district that probably lost to LA EVERYTIME you played them. By saying that no one else could do anything (which is a ridiculous statement) I am also assuming that you are saying that your team is really, really bad. Otherwise, why would you say that one man beat your team....doesn't make much since because that is almost disgracing your own team. Also sounds like a large case of jealousy that LA played in Murfreesboro and you didn't, but look on the bright side......there is always next year...but OH WAIT LA RETURNS MOST OF THE PLAYERS THAT PUT THE HURTIN' ON YOU don't they? What a SHAME?????
  6. It may be easier to coach a real talented team and all that, but guess what most of these players have played under coach melton for many years...like since 4th grade so know what you are talking about before you speak. He has coached these boys with much success for years now and that is going to continue, and I think in the future you will be called out on saying dumb things like that. LA is going to be very good for years to come so maybe we will see FULTON in a year or so...maybe. Rup hits me as a real moron. Unintelligent statement after unintelligent statement...almost not even worth comment. Coach Melton has done an awesome job with these guys in the three short years he has been at LA. Also, Chase Dunn did not choke, you cannot expect a kid to have 49 every night can you?? Also about the looking pretty part and saying what we need to work on...another dumb statement. They did not play good, but there is no reason to insult the boys or the coaches as I guarantee you that LA fans would not have done that if we had one. I guess some people cannot be as classy as the LA fans are, but I am going to assume that ALL Fulton fans are not this CLASSLESS!! Fulton played a REALLY GOOD game and deserved to win. First time I have seen them play and I was DEFINITELY impressed with the play on the floor, but fans like you make me LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR THAT SCHOOL, and that is really a shame. Regardless, I believe LA should hold their heads high. The 2 seniors will definitely be missed and now the juniors and below know exactly how HARD it is to make it to the BORO and how hard it is going to be to get to the next level. Will be fun to watch next season. Just wondering if all fans are like Rup? Can any Fulton fans give me an answer to that because I think there is surely more class there than he is showing?
  7. Congratulations to the LA BOYS. Huge win. I hate to keep riding the Ramsey and TJ Smith train but with huge games out of them...along with Chase Dunn and another monster game, the cats will be in the BORO next week. Coach Melton has done tremendous things for this program in the three short years he has been there but let's be honest we all know he will be dissappointed without THE GOLD BALL this season. I believe I heard from several people that he told them at the beginning of the year the only thing that would make this season satisfying is a state championship, if that is so they are in a really good position to accomplish that goal. I have a GUT FEELING that LA will be there on saturday and there is a good chance the way they are playing that they could be coming home with the elusive gold ball. By the way, it has been 11 years since the LA boys went to state, until 2008....The last time they played for the state championship was all the way back in 1946. (count em 62 years, will 2008 bring an end to that also?????? Only time will tell, and it is all up to HOGEYE..good luck in the state CATS you guys deserve it.
  8. Congratulations to the JC Blue Devils and coach GARY FLYNN. HUGE win for this program..Glad to see you all peak at the right time, now we got you and LA to cheer for. Way to represent the Upper Cumberland. congrats and good luck in the BORO.
  9. I am certain that MC has a good team, but at LA in that atmosphere it is going to be tough to win. IT CAN HAPPEN...just like LA girls did it last year in MC, but it is tough. LA needs to make SURE they do not overlook McMinn and let them sneak a win out, they need to play like they have been playing and if they do....LA wins by 11. Good luck Cats.
  10. True with the cheerleaders flipping into the crowd and it happened more than once but that is besides the point...I hope there was no "cussing out" going on as that would be dissappointing and take away from the game. Anyways BACK TO BASKETBALL.....as someone said earlier TJ SMITH has stepped up and been huge all year long for the Cats. When there was someone on here a couple of days ago saying that LA had no other "real threats" I thought this would be a huge game for TJ to step up and sure enough he did. As for LA having a few wins left for this year, I personally am hoping they have about 4 wins left in the bag, and they can do it. Good job to the Cats and good luck Monday night to both White House AND LA.
  11. First of all congratulations to JC on sending, first of all, Pickett Co. to the house. Then, suprising me again, JC crushed Westmoreland, so I believe that anything can happen. If CSAS is as good as they were last year they will be tough to beat, but JC is an extremely HARD place to play and that place is going to be ROCKING!!!!!!!! Good luck to JC Monday night...my prediction is JC by 3.
  12. Another huge game for the Livingston Academy boys. Just want to say that as I figured would happen the big guy for Station camp did in fact spend most of his time running up and down, up and down, and LA took the lead early and never looked back. Got the running game going and made it look pretty easy for the most part after that. The gaurds at WH just were not on the same level as the LA gaurds in my opinion, and as I also thought Devon Ramsey was the GAME DECIDING FACTOR in this game. Defensively, with alot of help side, he done a great job against Gaines, and he also had a pretty good game offensively. Big game for Ramsey good job Devon. Also, TJ Smith (you know the one that was supposedly inconsistent and was not going to be a game deciding factor supposedly), well guess what he came to play tonight. Wh had to leave him open to cover the help on DUNN and he ate them alive...do not know how many he had but he had enough to be the dagger. Good job to COACH MELTON AND THE LA BOYS and good luck Monday night. Also good luck to White House though I personally would love to see 2 Region 4AA teams in the BORO...we will see though I guess. Good luck to all monday night.
  13. Judging by the people on this board saying that White House is going to win I am going to assume one of three things. 1) They have never seen LA play. 2) they have never seen White house play. 3) They are extremely biased towards White House. Shooting over Carrin Nash (WHO IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER FOR UPPERMAN) is one thing but shooting over the big men of LA (Ramsey and Mclearran) is another. The big guy at White House, based on his play against UHS play NO DEFENSE at all, and wants to shoot it about 80% of the time. He is not in any shape and on defense does not even come out of the paint. The gaurds at White House are no where near as talented or determined for that matter, as the gaurds at LA are. I am with the person that wrote earlier they have no idea how they beat Station camp at all this year, as I am a little shocked by that as well. LA is going to run and gun, press, and just wear out this White House team, especially the big seemingly out of shape kid........Dunn is going to get his 30-35 points probably, and Ramsey will probably be the other difference maker in this game. He had a big game against SC and not he is going to have another one Thursday night, but it is going to be on defense. Difference maker is going to be that Dunn is going to be able to out score the big guy from WH and they do not have as many OTHER SCORERS as LA does so LA wins it by 14 going away. Good luck to the Cats and bring that substate and region title HOME.
  14. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still in shock over the game I watched last night. UNBELIEVABLE performance by Chase Dunn, and congrats on breaking the single game mark...now theres one left. Another kid that had an outstanding performance last night that may not have been shown in the stat book was Devon Ramsey..may have only had 8 points (i think it was)..but they were 8 when it was absolutley necessary. He was a big presence and had the bext game he has played in a long time in my opinion, and I think he is going to feed off that and together with McLearran take this big guy from WHITE HOUSE out of the game Thursday night. After that being said, when Dunn has his 30-35 thursday night along with the big guy from White House being shut down I am gonna say LA BY 14 after the free throws. May be closer but from what I seen out of White House in the Upperman game the big guy is about all they got, and one ball handler but LA will take care of that and the Region Championship Thursday night. Congrats to Coach Melton and the CATS and bring that substate game back to LA (along with the Region Championship). Good luck to the Cats Thursday AND BEYOND.
  15. Just to clear up the analogy with Brewer and Jenkins was only to compare that both were said to be "unstoppable" and the fact is that both I am sure can be stopped. I was not saying that Station Camps team is not any good...at this juncture all the teams are good/great teams and it was not meant as their team not being good. I know they are a good team and LA is going to have to play some good basketball to beat them but all I am saying is it can be done and hopefully in a few hours will be. LA by 7 is my prediction...good luck Bees and Cats...Love to be a 7AA finals.
  16. First of all, congratulations to the UPPERMAN LADY BEES and Coach Dana McWilliams, as well. Well fought and earned game...UNBELIEVEABLE to listen to I wish I could have been there. The LA girls have nothing to hang their head about after this game, it is just a shame as someone previously said that one of these two teams has to go home. LA dug themselves quite a hole and just couldn't overcome it, but the effort that was shown was amazing. Also wanted to say good job to Mackenzie Sells on what seemed to be AN AWESOME game, and two HUGE free throws at the end there. Those are HUGE for anyone, but especially for a freshman and she ended with 18 I believe off the bench, so that is a pretty good game. Also, congrats to Davis from Upperman, simply said LA had no answer for her tonight...she scored at will it seemed like, and if Upperman wins this Region Tourney I believe she, ONCE AGAIN, gets that MVP trophy because without her tonight this one is not even close. Again, congrats to the LADY BEES AND YORK on their all 7AA region finals and go on and represent our district well in the state.
  17. Wow...those are some strong statements saying that three people cannot gaurd 1....I personally have not seen the guy play, but I can imagine that he probably will not get triple teamed by all that many people. Anyways, I am with smitty on this one though he can get his and you limit everyone else and win the game.I do not know if he is as good as Corey Brewer was a few years ago, but everyone probably remembers when he had something like 34 of his teams 40 BUT GUESS WHAT THEY LOST IN THE REGION TOURNAMENT. That very well can happen if LA can "contain" everyone else, but I think LA wins this one by 9 and advances to the REGION CHAMPIONSHIP for the first time in quite some time. Upperman may also be able to handle White House, but we will have to see...that would be something to see if 7aa could sweep 8aa and finally end this streak that 8AA has enjoyed for quite some time. IT has to end sometime...LA may as well make it this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good luck 7AA in the Region SEMI's!
  18. I have not seen Station Camp play this year, but I have not seen that many AA teams, or any other teams that are that much better than LA. They have had one of the best seasons in recent history at LA and it will not be complete without at least a substate appearance in my opinion, and theres only 2 things that stand in the way of that happening.......GOODPASTURE, and most likely Station Camp (assuming they win). I believe this is the year that LA finally makes it back to the substate and maybe beyond...but we will see. Also, I cannot wait to see this guy that is going to be able to stop Chase Dunn, because it really has not happened yet this year...but that is not to say that it won't. Good luck to LA in the Goodpasture game AND BEYOND.................................
  19. Would it not be much simpler to say that BOTH TEAMS HAVE HAD MOMENTS THAT THEY WERE VERY poor sports. I mean honestly, there have been multiple moments when I thought that Clay County fans have shown very poor class, but there have been times that Pickett County have done the same. Both sets of fans need to STOP BEING BABIES and accept the fact that sometimes, even though no one wants to it happens, your team loses....Everytime one of these teams loses it is the refs fault or the fans were terrible sports or the other team was arrogant....how about everyone STOPS WHINING and says you know what OUR TEAM LOST and accept that...had PC lost I am absolutely sure that this board would be exactly the opposite and the PC fans would be mad and the CCHA fans would be saying how great everything was and how bad the other sides fans were...... BOTTOM LINE IS STOP WHINING.
  20. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.....That is HILARIOUS. Are you kidding me??????????????????????????????????? Being older doesn't help you on the basketball court??? So, are you telling me that if you have someone that graduates as a 17 year old, you think they will be as mature on the basketball court as someone who graduates as a 19 year old. That is hilarious, and entirely UNTRUE!!!!!!! There is a reason people try to start their kids later or let them repeat a grade...it is because it is a HUGE advantage....My point can be easily proven. Has ANYONE ever seen a junior that is 18 and a senior that is 18 playing? Most people will say that when that junior is a 19 year old senior he will be MORE MATURE as a basketball player, student, etc....It is just the way it is, and someone who says that does not make a difference needs to take a look at 8th grade basketball players, and tell me if you can tell the difference in a 15 year old 8th grader and a 13 year old 8th grader. Same principle that you are stating here with the 17 year old and 19 year old seniors. BOTTOM LINE IS IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE, but PC has the better team this year, but Clay can play with them and maybe they will get another chance at it..Good luck to both in the Region and beyond.
  21. I am not sure that Edwards is the BEST coach in the district, but I am certainly not convinced that he is not. Bibbs and Edwards are both very good at what they do, although there is probably some things that people think could be done differently....there would be no matter who was doing it. Also, Coach Edwards and Bibbs records speak for themselves....State tournament appearances and multiple District and Region Championships between them and also MANY SUB STATE appearances. Fans are also hard to please....if you do not win all the games you play and play everyone an equal amount of time in those games....guess what someone somewhere is going to be mad about it. That is the way it is and these coaches understand that and honestly I am almost certain neither of them give a FLIP what everyone else thinks they should do. There is a reason theyre there and the fans that are complaining are not...let them do their job. Honestly, both teams have had pretty good seasons, and hopefully will continue to make these seasons even better and I think both of them could do that. Clay County is probably not the better team between these two, but they can keep it close and capitalize on PC mistakes and sometimes pull out the win....perhaps in the Region Tournament Championship...but I guess ONLY TIME WILL TELL.....................Good Luck to the Cats and Dogs in the upcoming tourneys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Wow...that was almost a bash on both coaches in the same post. lol. Don't get that very often. Anyways back to something that matters...like the game and the upcoming game. Congrats to LA on winning yet another District Championship in the COACH MELTON ERA....Back to back to back I believe...It has been quite some time since that has happened last I believe....can someone check me on that as to when it actually has happened before now. Also, congrats to Upperman on making it to the championship game and getting to HOST that region tournament game that will be BIG. I would LOVE to see Upperman and LA again @ DCA for the Region Championship. Good Luck to LA AND UPPERMAN in the upcoming region tournament. Also can anyone list the all tournaments for at least these 2 teams.
  23. Wow......this guy made himself sound really dumb. Tyler Edwards is a bit inconsistent at time, but what are you saying BENCH HIM???? Nolan Dale is an excellent gaurd that does sometime turn the ball over but is a very good gaurd and has even come along way in the past year or so. Ethan Birdwell, I was not too impressed with the first couple of times I seen him play, but as far as the past few times I have seen him play I thought he done very well and is one of the most consistent players on the team, or maybe that I have seen in a while in 7a. He seems like he just about always has his 15-18 points per game. Players may be playing for themselves, I did not see this particular game, but I doubt that is going on as much as you seem to think it is....it was not the last time I seen them play which was earlier in the week. As far as the shooting being controlled by just a few on the court, that may be true, but is it not true for ALMOST ALL TEAMS. Jacob Wright does not score as many points as he has scored at Pickett County without shooting the ball alot, and he is obviously their go to guy....Clay also has people that tend to shoot more than others, ALL TEAMS DO. Different players have different roles, but from what I have seen in the 5ish games of Clay Countys that I have been to this year Edwards has been in double figures a few times, as has Dale, Birdwell, Garrett, Knight, Brown, etc....It seems like on any given night any of these players can score in double figures. BALL HOGS I GUESS........Sounds like you should become a coach since you seem to have the keys to fix ALL of Clay Countys problems, but seriously lay off this team, Coach Edwards will have them ready to go for the Region Tournament, and HECK who knows maybe we will get a REMATCH for the Region Championship, and if that happens maybe you should let everyone know what you think Clay needs to do to win...since you obviously know...>NOT!!!!!!!! Good Luck to pickett County and Clay County in the upcoming Regional Tournament. It would be GREAT to see another historic Region Championship rivalry between these two teams..
  24. Also, I want to say congratulations to the Hilham Lady Tigers and to LMS on winning their respective TNT State Championships. Good job in bringing home the state tournament trophies to Overton County, and it will be nice to see these girls in LA Blue and White next year, and interesting to see the county games and how they play out next year as well. Good job to both of these teams.!
  25. WOW!!!!!!!!!! I hope that is true. Not only because I want LA to win but also because I love watching Chase play when he is on fire like that. But dang 38....I hope we do not need that many out of Chase to win but if that is what the situation calls for I guess we will take it lol. good luck to the CATS against Upperman and to both teams for the remainder of the season!
